Revell Baja Bronco
espo replied to dragstk's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beautiful looking rig. Lot of attention to detail both on the chassis, paint and interior. Looks just like the Bronchos you see in the Mecum Auctions that bring north of $100k. -

Like the way you build such abused looking vehicles. The air conditioning has to make you laugh. Great job with the dirty paint finish and windshield. Like the big rubber and the exhaust stack. -

Beautiful looking finishes on both builds. The black car looks just like the picture and the red Interior looks almost too nice to be in a race car. These were offered here as well, but most dealers had the basic car in stock. I do remember one Ford dealer that had the Lotus kit on it. The only ones I ever remember seeing were all white with a Lotus shade of green in the side moldings and around the taillight area. -
Great looking flat paint finish and the stripe and flame decals look good. The bed full of extras are a good add on.

Beautiful looking Impala. The Bubble Top Chevys along with the other GM products that used this roof design were very popular. The interior and engine look well detailed as well.

Great looking build, and the seat belt idea makes a nice save. Like the deep channeled body look and the engine detailing. You had mentioned the windshield frame issue. Should it bother you, maybe a couple of thin U Channel plastic or brass that would slide on either side of the windshield. Some sort of chrome treatment would be a consideration. Either way it looks great as is.

I guess the Salt Air got it. That does happen and the weathering is very realistic looking.

John, You were questioning the Del Rey option. Chevrolet offered the Del Rey option as an interior upgrade on the 210 series. Starting in 1954 Chevrolet offered the interior upgrade that would give the buyer a nice-looking interior trim without having to pay the price of going into a Bel Air. This was offered thru the 1957 production run. My father bought a new 1956 Chevrolet 210 four door but with the standard interior. No one ever accused my father of spending money needlessly. He also managed to save even more with the 6 cyl and tree speed, no overdrive. No radio and only black wall tires and the dog dish hub caps. How they ever got him to buy the bumper guards is a mystery.

Beautiful looking showroom style build. The trim is all cleanly done and the stance looks right for stock. We had a 210 four door with the 6 cyl. and three on the tree back when. Nothing fancy, but dead reliable even in the sub - zero winters in Illinois.

This chassis is model all by itself. Like seeing how you replicate all of the fine suspension details.

A look at a few real vehicles and something along the lines of what you're trying to represent. The Rotor surface isn't chrome, but it is sort of shinny if it is currently in use. Any holes drilled in the rotor would be a good place to put a little detail of brake dust. The mounting hardware would vary with the extent of detail from one car to the next. Calipers themselves can have any number of colors and finishes, again depending on the type of vehicle and its use. As suggested the area on the edge of the Rotor and /or the cooling fins may show a touch of rust and brake dust. Depending on how visible you're making the brake setup would depend on how much effort you put into detailing.

Thank you, David. Hi Chris. Old school low dollar was what I wanted. Alan, I agree about the paint, but I wanted the unfinished premiered look. The upholstery was a first-time experiment based on another builder using the tape. Gave me the look I wanted and better than I could ever do painting alone. Thank you Mario

Nice clean looking finish and trim.

Great to see a subject from this era built as a stock build. The color does suite it well.

Great looking paint finish and body trim. Like how you did the Pony Interior trim.
-
Great looking build and the color combination.

You mention the GM situation involving GM and Toyota. The Pontiac Vibe was built in a joint factory in the LA area called NUMI. This wasn't their first venture in building a jointly developed car as they did with the Toyota Corolla and some of the Chevrolet cars marketed under the GEO brand. The plant was owned by GM and used to build Camaros. GM couldn't develop and build as well as market a brand-new product as cheaply as they could by pertaining with Toyota. Ford had done this with Mazda in the past, mainly for compact trucks. Chrysler has had a working relationship with Mitsubishi as well. You even have Toyota and Subaru building a sports car, much like Toyota and BMW. To many of the everyday cars in the marketplace today seem like homogenized milk. Any more you just pick the color and two or three equipment levels since they are no longer built as an ala kart like long ago, and who's name you want on the back.

Nice to see this back on the work bench again. The paint on the roof looks great, the light makes it look like there is a little orange peel on the paint on the trunk.

Like the crusty looking start. -
Thank you for the memories of when I was small of waist and long of hair, unlike now. Besides Wipe Out, Green Onions, Torquay, Surfer Joe, Walk Don't Run were some of the top tunes when we all put Hydrogen Peroxide in our hair so we would look like surfers.

Like the well-used appearance. Looks like the "Tin Worm" has had its way with the body. Realistic looking finishes. -
The paint finish still looks fresh and the Black color goes well with the Red interior and inner fenders.

Great looking paint finish and chrome trim. Like how you detailed the engine, even with just paint detailing it looks great.
