Like the look of the wheels you did. The body color looks as if it may be a Pearl Yellow? The way the "wood" is done on this kit looks like it would be easier to paint and detail.

Spilled your mustard? This may explain the scream I heard.

Great looking finishes. The changes to the drive components look like it would be fun in the snow, cold but fun.
-
Great looking build, especially considering what you had to start with. Cleanly built and the paint detailing like the engine looks great. Wish they still offered the old Moon Discs.

Great looking paint color and finish along with the stripes. Like the rear wheel treatment and the stance.

A friend of mine drove one of these when we were in high school. Thats the radiator filler under the rear window and the gas filler is under the hood with the engine. You really don't want to get the two switched when you're getting gas.

Like the jigs and mini frame table you have built. The suspension components are all very realistic looking.

Great looking finishes.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures. So many well built Hot Rods and Kustoms and the reproduction '53 Ford Panamerican race car is special to me. We all have favorites, and I have an unhealthy attraction to '56 Chevrolets. The Bel Air hardtop made my heart go "Pity Pat" and my wallet said, "Oh no you don't".

Great looking build, but the most important part is the why and who that it is built for. Having friends both older and young than yourself is a good thing. As you have already found out he has shared his wisdom and experience with you as you have shared with him. Always thought that was one of the better parts of being a friend.

Like the color. Cleanly done trim and the SS stripes look great. The Wheels and RWL tires look like they belong.

Nice clean looking adapter for the engine and transmission conversion. Like the Corvette F.I. idea.

I would suggest exploring the Tire Rack site. Besides offering several different brands they also really do test their products and also get feedback from real customers and post it as well. The part that I like and have used for a few tire purchases is their spec sheet on each tire as to the diameter, width, revelations per mile, and suggested wheel width. They do also offer several brands of wheels. You can even get a wheel and tire combination shipped to you already mounted, balanced, and tire pressure censors if needed. As for your OEM tire size, to use as a base line, I wonder if the 215/50x16 tire size you mention is correct. Verify the size with the door sticker and owner's manual if you have one. The tire Rack site can give you the correct OEM size based on some simple vehicle information. I have bought several sets of tires as well as tire & wheel combinations through the years and will be doing that again when I'm ready for my next set.

Don't know what you have in your stash, but I think the '37 Ford kit had a front end much like a Mustang II as does some others. -
Atlantis Models has bought another lot of tooling/molds.....

Would love to have a '57 Nomad wagon as long as they can get the shape of the roof corrected as well as the hood and grill. Revell never seemed to be able to fix the shape of the roof. -
Great looking paint work. Since you mention the stripes. While personally not being a big fan of most of the OEM striping schemas of the era, in this case I would keep the side stripes and drop the hood stripes. The model looks great either way, but the plan black sides just look like something is missing, and again this is only my idea, so just do it the way you like it. Like the engine detailing.

Great looking showroom style build. Like the colors and the paint finish. The interior finish looks good. Nice engine detail.
-
Great clean looking build. Like the OEM look and the colors look very much like 1957.

My biggest concern when I get down on my hands and knees looking for a dropped part isn't whether or not I'll find the part, it's whether or not I'll be able to get back up.

There is a local Buick car club here in the KC area and they show their cars at the annual big show here as well as others in the area. Most of their cars are based on this body style and are GS models. Most try to stay very original looking. There is one that is painted black and that is presented as the OEM color. Another is white and has what is said to be a protype front spoiler. That car has been in a few enthusiast magazines in the past. I agree, paint it whatever color you like.

Help Creating a front Valance

Try making a few prototype shapes using card stock, like a business card or paper. When you find a shape that you want transfer that to some flat or even round stock to the shape you want.
