Great concept and your body mockup looks good. My question is the grill to hood meeting. How do you intend to blend them together?

Beautiful looking paint finish and I like the light color. Great looking engine detailing. -
Great looking Camaro and that color looks nice on this. Like you I have used this kit as a doner on several builds and like the Chambered Exhaust system.
-
Great looking paint, Silver always played well with the body lines on these Chargers. The stance looks really aggressive and goes along with the wheels.
-
Beautiful looking paint finish. I like the cleaner body lines with the trim removed and the mesh grill.
-
I like the smooth way the Chevelle style roof integrates with the Corvair body. The color shows off the body lines and it almost looks like the color I had on my '67 El Camino way back when.

GHreat looking paint finish and the decals and chrome trim all look cleanly done.

What did you see on the road today?

Don't you just love the over-the-top styling and colors from that era? You can see a few different styling elements from different year model Mercurys including the color. -

Great looking paint work. Nice decals. -
Looks great. I like how you got all of the parts from different sources. There is an old saying about "Making a silk purse out of a sow's ear".

Great detailing on the trim and paint. I remember a lot of VW's with no hub caps at all.
-
The FI setup better suits this style anyway. Great looking paint job. I like how you represented the inner body "tin" in your build.

Nice looking paint and color. Never considered this kit for a build before, but I may have to rethink that looking at this. -
Great idea. I don't often build drag Cars so I'm staying with the kit's decals. Too bad about your paint issues. This is why I try and stay with the same brand of products throughout a paint job. Less chance that I can screw it up. Post some pictures as I would like to see your build as well.

Thank Zippi. Getting decals and clear this weekend.

The black Chevy may be older than a '48 based on the grill. On the Crosley, a guy I went to school with had one setting under some trees along side of the family garage. The story was that his folks bought it new and parked it when they bought a new car as the dealer wouldn't give them anything for the Corsley. After a couple of other new cars, the Crosley was just set aside and never driven or licensed. My buddy was getting his drivers permit so I helped him get it going as a first car. The little wagon, they also offered a coupe body style, was the same color as the one in the picture above. We lived in the 'B urbs of Chicago, could this be the same car?

Decal tips. What am I doing wrong?
espo replied to Mike C.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ya, they work great, and it keeps my fat fingers off of the decal, -
The local Hobby Shop I go to has a few on the wall for sale. They usually carry some, but at $14 + you have to consider a kit with the wheels and tires you're after and you get all the other bonus parts. Maybe that the Hobby Shop doesn't have enough markup on these to make it worth their while to stock them.

Love El Caminos, but a red '59 with Americans has to be about as good as it gets. -

Does anyone else remember the "Spy vs Spy" series in the old Mad Magazine? -

This sure looks like a '39 that one of the Forum members got a few years ago. I remember the Hub Caps and the Wide Whites. What a great family cruiser. -
I have bought several of these sets and can only offer high phrase for them. The downside is the cost.

Decal tips. What am I doing wrong?
espo replied to Mike C.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I can add little beyond what others have already stated. I also have used, sparingly, Salvo Sol as well as Solvaset. In fact, just now looking at my bottle of Solvaset that I used last night is over 25 years old and still seems to work just fine. What I would add is to find a small sponge that women use to apply makeup. I use this to squidgy excessive fluid that can gather between a large decal and the model body. You can gently squidgy the moisture from under the decal to the edge and use a small paper towel to absorb the moisture of the body. Last night I was doing a large decal on both sides of the model, and it crossed both sides of the door panels. When they had dried for a time, I cut the decal with a #11 along the door opening lines and applied a very small amount of the set solution so that the decal would lay down a little into the door lines. I cleared the body this morning, so I'll see how that worked. -
Great looking build, a lot of fine trim detailing. Nice smooth looking paint work.
