  1. As the article points out this type of conversion wasn't as common as before WW11. The emblem on the passenger rear fender could suggest this was a service vehicle from either a Buick dealership or someone who specialized in Buick repair. The body itself looks like it was a four-door sedan at one time.
  2. The four-door hard top Fairlane is an unusual sight since I don't believe many were built.
  3. Great looking paint job. I like all the chrome trim you added and the wench really "Mans it up" on front.

Great looking Trans Am. Hard to see the wheels in the pictures but I'm sure they look good as well.
  5. Great looking cruiser. With the LS upgrade this would catch everyone off guard.
  6. Great looking paint and color. I like how you used the Pontiac's iconic Hood Tach.
  7. Both builds look great. I'm a little partial to the Flathead with painted wheels.
  8. Great looking build. I like the two-tone color combination you used, really shows of the body lines. This car was from a time when you saw a car on the road you didn't have to guess what manufacture it was from.
  9. I like the styling changes to the body trim and the rear seat cover.
  10. The rear fenders look like they have been widened somewhat. Something that catches my eye is the area in the middle of the windshield. There appears to be a bump in the middle of the dash that can be seen. The only car from that era at GM that I can remember such a dashboard style would be a Pontiac. As for trying to reproduce the car in the picture you might consider starting with the Revell '50 Olds coupe. This would give you the general shape of the front half of the car with modifications to the grill area and the front bumper. The rear half looks like it would be pretty much scratch built. The Olds kit would give you a nice frame and driveline to work with.
  11. I don't know for sure, but the Revell '66 El Camino and Wagon kits along with the '67 Chevelle kit might be something to look at. The 1:1 shard much of the undercarriage with the Pontiac Tempest/GTO of that time period. The Revell kits offered a very nice separate frame and well detailed suspension.
  12. This will be interesting to watch. I have also wanted to build this kit, but more on the lines of a pickup I owned sometime in the latter part of the last century.
  13. I'm afraid your experience with their spray cans is more common than not. I have been able to use the spray cans as long as there is still propellent in the can. After that I think trying to remove the remaining paint may be possible but I'm not going to bother with the ones I have seeping away on the shelf. I would just try and use them all up while you can and then move on to a different product line when they're gone.
  14. Congratulations. Are you going to the Big Island or else ware?
  15. I have a long list of POS cars that I have had the misfortune of owning. One I recall was a car I took in trade for one I was selling. I used to pick up old cars on the side and fix them up a little and sell them. No lot just sold them out of the gas station I was working at. Anyway, this guy traded me a '53 Ford Ranch Wagon. The Flathead engine had so much blowby from the crankcase you would get a headache in just a few miles. The car would use at least 1 to 2 quarts of oil to one tank of gas. Going down a grade and then getting back on the gas and you would no longer be able to see the cars behind you. The CHP was not amused at all. Changed the oil to 40 w and added a couple of cans of STP and I told the buyer that it was on it's last legs but he really wanted that wagon. I was in it about $50 and sold it for $200 and the buyer loved it.
  16. I guess I have been fortunate to have owned several cars that I thoroughly enjoyed as well as a few I have really regrated owning. I think the one that I wished I had kept was the car I got when I retired. We bought a '05 Pontiac GTO, the Americanized Manero. LS2 engine with a 6-speed manual and the only option at the time was the "big brakes" that would become standard on the '06's. Black Matelic paint and Black Leather interior. I added a set of 1" wider TSW wheels and one size larger Michlin tires from the Tire Rack. I also got all of the pretty red Peter bushings for the suspension and the rear differential carrier. With a set of Peter Shocks, it was a kick to drive. Problem with advanced age is that you don't bend like you used to getting in and out of a car. My wife convinced me we should get her a new car and I would drive her Charger RT with AWD. The GTO reminded me of when I was thin of waist and thick of hair, as opposed to now.
  17. The Starbucks reference reminds me of an experience a few years ago. I was waiting in line to place my order for a simple Latta with an extra shot. Ah I'm one of those. Anyway, the gentleman in front of me turned to me to make a remark after hearing a group of ladies ordering their concoctions that they wanted. He said to me that the barista needed to be a chemist. I thought it was fitting.
  18. Beautiful looking finishes and color. The right stance and the wire wheels have the right delicate look.
  19. Beautiful looking paint and finishes. Looks just like the real car.
  20. Thankyou all for your input and ideas. I have pulled the needle and tried to clear it with a drill bit, but never thought of using fire. I'll give that a try.
  21. The GMC street machine kit, the one with a picture of a white truck on the box, has a dually rear wheel setup and the wide fender extensions. That would be a 3500 series body. In 1/25th scale it can be whatever you want it to be.
  22. I recently have tried the new Revell glue products. My problem is that the needle on the glue dispenser seems to be plugged up. I have been using it for about a month and everything seemed fine until today. The needle will not allow the fllow of any glue. Thinking that it may have had glue harden in the needle I ran a #80 drill in both ends of the needle. This didn't seem to have any effect. I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue with the new Revell glue?
  23. Thank you. This is the one I was thinking of. My thought was after the way you described how you built yours it would be a great blueprint for anyone wanting to build one of their own.
  24. I agree. Gareth always seems to sweat the small stuff in the detail department.
