'57 Ranchero - Del Rio Conversion
espo replied to Phildaupho's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beautiful looking Ranchero. The attention to the little details on the bed really make this look factory. The colors also add that OEM look along with the trim details. The engine upgrade and the wheels and tires give it great day 2 appearance. -
Beautiful looking build. When built in this fashion you can see just how good looking these cars were if done correctly. I like the NASCAR chassis as this also gives a nice stance and suspension. The paint finish and color along with the trim details look great.

The '34 Ford pickup was actually than AMT kit and Lindburg wound up with the tooling after their Bankruptcy. That aside your point about older tooling is well taken. Round 2 is now reissuing the '34 pickup and the only thing missing maybe the Flat Bed option or the Wrecker option for the bed. Beyond that it still is a must build in my opinion.

Revell recently issued a '76 Chevrolet K-10 step side short wheelbase kit. My plan is to convert it to a two-wheel drive and make a model of a '74 I owned long ago. I think if someone wanted to make a fleet side out of this, they could shorten the long bed.

Beautiful looking paint finish and clean looking trim. I like the contrasting interior color. These were very underappreciated cars when new and most people were wanting the higher horsepower cars of the day.

Beautiful looking paint and interior. The engine detailing looks very OEM.

Kind of wish they still kited the big boats. The paint and colors all look great. The attention to all to fine details of the exterior trim and especially the interior is what makes this look so good.

Great job combining the styling of the two different cars into one. Nice looking interior finishes and the light wash on the engine gives it a more realistic look.

Great looking paint and trim. Like the rear window louvers.

I always liked the looks of the "Carson" style tops from the '50's. -
Great looking kustom. Nice smooth body mods all flow together. The Bubble Tops were all the rage. I like the rear seat Tannu cover and the bucket seats. Nice fine flake paint.

I have only done a few vinyl roofs in scale, but I have done a few chrome trim addons. My thought would be to make sections of the trim much the way GM did on the 1:1. The one long part at the edge of the trunk opening. The curved part connecting that part to the side trim that runs along the bottom of the sail panel would have to be hand bent but you're doing this with a very small thin piece of trim that can be bent and glued down as you go. I have done just this same type of bend on the top of the tail fins on the '57 Ford wagon to make a factory style tow tone. Also added some curved side molding trim added to the Suburban kit to add body side moldings. Look at using Plastruct 1.5 mm half round for the moldings. After you have the curved part glued down you can cut the end at an angle to match the lower side trim. The same thing to connect the roof drip molding down along the back side of the side window.

While this probably was a real Shelby at one time it hardly is now. Why someone would do all this to a real Shelby when mainstream Mustangs were a common enough starting point and would have had to cost far less in the first place. Doesn't really matter anymore if it was a real Shelby since it never will be in the future. Just a shame to see this happen to such a car.

Great looking workmanship and beautiful paint work. I like the convertible top. So much fine detailing and finishes.

Great redo. Just like finding an old worn out 1:1 car and then bring it back to life. Great looking paint work and a nice bright color. I like how you added the Trans Am style exhaust system for the Hemi.

Very sleek looking body work. Beautiful looking paint fade and sparkles.

Great looking paint finish and I like the contrasting red interior, Lots of extra detailing on the engine and the interior both.

Good eye catching the body shape. For the proper shape of the moldings for the vinyl roof I would look online for pictures of 1:1 cars that have the vinyl roof option from the factory.

Matches the box art perfectly. Interesting looking kit. -
Beautiful looking body mods. You have to wonder why Mercury didn't do this way back when. Like the Eliminator color and trim theme.

We had one small space heater and a neighbor brought over a larger one that they had. Combined with the gas fireplace we were actually pretty comfortable overnight. Monday the HVAC people got to use early and spent all morning going over the system. One thing I had never heard of before, but they said is somewhat common. The gas pressure regulator comes set at the max pressure, around 4 lbs., and they have had the systems overheat and the sensors shut down the fire fire box as it thinks it's overheating. They lowered the pressure to the minimum, 3 lbs., and it has worked great so far.
