  1. I'll enjoy watching this rebuild. Considering the model standards of the day this does make a great looking Baby Bird.
  2. That's what used to be called "laying frame". The color issue is a little funny. You mention that it's purple and your camera thinks it's brown. My screen sees maroon as the color. What ever color it is or looks like I'm sure it will be nice to see.
  3. I have not built my convertible kit yet but the coupe version built perfectly. My only suggestion would be when you start the assembly of all the parts stay very close to the way the instructions suggest. Because of the fine fit and finish on the Moebuis kits they go together best if you follow their instructions.
  4. That is most likely the max humidity level rather than suggested.
  5. I got another of their constant E Mails about some magazines they're sure I need or want. I tried to unsubscribe from their E Mail list and I guess somehow they're now cancelling the rest of my subscription if I don't call their 800 number today. I called and all I get is a busy signal. The recording they left on my phone said that if I didn't contact them by the end of the day they would cancel my subscription and refund the used portion. This might be one way to get them to refund some or all of your subscription money.
  6. Great looking color combination. Nice paint finish and the interior looks very clean.
  7. So you have a pile of lumber. Did it include directions or is this sort of a free range build ?
  8. This came together quickly. Great looking build and I'm also sure your father will like it also.
  9. Very clean looking detail painting.
  10. That's good. Much better than taking a chance on messing up the body panels.
  11. Don't you just love summer heat. We're been having 90 degree days for sometime but at least it's humid. 7 am this morning condensation on the outside of all the windows in the house. I check the thermometer, 78 degrees and 85 % humidity just know its going to be another great day in the neighborhood. This afternoon its 98 and the humidity has dropped way down to 70 % and the wind is almost 25 mph. I'm spending the day in the basement thankyou.
  12. Great looking Miata. I like how you detailed the engine area. This is something I enjoy and appreciate when I see it done to this level. Your friends 1:1 Miata looks like the factory had the body some how contaminated before they painted it.
  13. Very clean looking Camaro. Nice to see your color choice.
  14. I give it two thumbs up also.
  15. Your attention to details that I have seen on this and your other builds is exceptional. Glad to see you have joined the forum.
  16. Great job with the weathering on this build.
  17. Great looking old classic.
  18. Very cleanly detailed. I like the color combination.
  19. Very clean well built. I like the engine detailing as well as the chassis. The paint color and the finish are very smooth.
  20. Great looking weathering techniques . Very realistic looking.
  21. Great idea, I also prefer the duel scoop hood look. Any body stripes or just the bright Orange ??
  22. This is going to be another great build to watch. The 2 + 2 was based on the shorter wheel base Catalina body. Think of a GTO and a Catalina as kissing cousins. The 8 lug wheels in this kit represent a unique brake upgrade that Pontiac offered until they went to disk brakes. The center section is the brake drums that was an aluminum alloy that had an iron brake drum inside. Beyond looking very nice this also added in brake cooling. The raised fins were usually a machined surface and the area in between was a little rougher as cast finish. The outer wheel was painted a silver color and the trim rigs made it look like a chromed wheel. Converting to a convertible would be little more than chopping off the top and the boot, that's what we call the material that covers the folded top, can be found in the AMT '65 Impala convertible kit. Just have to find one. Knowing that you like to stay close to an OEM look the white interior would look good on a convertible. They would have had the dash board and carpet as well as the very low portion of the door carpet all the same color. The seats and most of the side panels would be white. These could be black or many other colors were offered.
  23. When we got her new '14 Dodge Avenger RT I took the car to one of the best tint shops in the area and they have dine several of our cars over the years. Besides the usual window tint, 35% max. in Kansas, i have them do the heavy 3M film on the nose of the car. I'm still not sure if street sweepers are legal here. I should have had them cover the top of the rear bumper as that looks like it would be a great idea and the film they use is all but impassible to see the edge.
  24. Very clean, this would be an ideal 1:1 Street Rod. Besides the great looking paint work I like how you did the interior colors just a shade or two off from each other. I'll have to remember your "Wood Dash" treatment. I agree, the license plate is a cool idea.
