Great looking build. I remember when these first came out, and the first one on the street that I saw looked exactly like your build in every way. Clean looking trim and paint. Are those tail lights from the kit ?

Great looking Yanko. The paint finish is especially nice. Very cleanly detailed build.

I would like to see how this turns out.

Great looking paint, I'm glad you didn't paint the roof to match like a stocker. This looks much better and the colors work well together.

What ever you do don't get ride of it, you'll hate your self for the rest of your life if you do. I had a new '05 GTO LS2 with a 6 speed, Black on Black. After market wheels and Michelin tires and lots of other goodies just like yours. Sold in '14 so the wife could get a new car. Didn't have to but the garage was a little crowded and the Insurance was killing us. She says she has heard me sobbing in my sleep some times and wants to know why.

Goleta would have been a bit of a drive from SLO. The model shop you mentioned, was that next to Bubble Gum Ally across from the Creamery restaurant ? They were pricy as I recall and only bought one model from them. I wasn't building much at that time with long hours at work and other social activities going on in my personal life at the time. Always nice to hear from someone who experienced that area, lot of great times.

I like the Hood Scoop. So you're adding the regular parking lamps under the Bumper ? The RS style lamps above the Bumper could become high intensity Driving Lights.

Thank you both. I'm glad you liked this.

Turned out looking great. I like the way you used parts from a few other kits to build this.

Great looking build. I'm in the decal before gloss camp. There are many that do the decals last, I think it depends what ever works for you. My experience has been the decals will be there as long as the gloss paint and they don't yellow with age.

Beautiful looking Impala. Great looking paint, very smooth looking. The seat cover inserts and colors look just like the 1:1 car.

Is There a Name for This?
espo replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't recall any special name for this style of chassis and roll bar, usually they were all just called "Rail Jobs" in sort of a generic way. -
I always had the cover on when the top was down on my convertible. There was also a proper way to fold the top as it's being lowered that will help preserve the top material as well as the top going deeper into the well where it was stored making the boot installation much easier. Another tip from the past on convertibles. With the top up on extremely hot days you will be much cooler and leave the rear plastic window down in the well. With the boot snapped into place like a package shelf the holder for the folded top in the truck is or was water proof and that could be filled with ice to keep your beverages cool, what ever they may have been. I learned this from a fellow convertible owner.

Opinions on upgrading rare vintage cars
espo replied to Mike Young's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You are starting off on this Fairlane with a lot more than what many on here have done. I would suggest finding either the AMT '66 Fairlane or the Mercury Comet for a lot of bits and pieces and start having some fun, and of course please post your build. -
I have seen other builders here suggest that they had good luck starting with a Silver base as a sealer. I think you would have better luck with the automotive type primer on the colors you're working with, but that's just my opinion.

Looks great, you really captured the look of the 1:1 car.

Beautiful looking paint, This is the car R & R singers were writing songs about in '62. Perfect stance and IMO the best ever style wheels for this. Ya I like it.

I always thought that was a great color on Pontiacs. I like the color in general, but Pontiac just looks right in that color.

How do I harden a rubberized resin body?
espo replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I had a similar thing happen only with a Resin '56 Chevrolet Bel Air two doorpost resin casting. The body just turned to mush and I tossed it. Lesson learned the expensive way and move on. -
Opinions on upgrading rare vintage cars

I think if you look around the Forum you'll find what you are describing is pretty common. Check out the Car Resin section and use the list if suppliers their. Sounds like you'll find a lot of suggestions here also since there is a large Ford contingent here also. Welcome aboard, look forward to seeing your build. -
I used Calnaga's complete conversion with the Jet Drive. One of the finest set of castings I've ever used. The colors are based on a ski boat I had years ago and I did a matching '66 Chevelle Wagon to tow the boat. The deck is as found in the kit. The deck has a slight rise going toward the cockpit and has a slight crease on both sides as if it could be used as an anchor for one a black smoked wind deflectors. I was going to try and build one but went on to something else and left it as is. The kits trailer wench is out of scale and doesn't go together well. I did add some diamond plate steps on the trailer since the steps in the kit didn't look good to me.

Well when you get to it please post your build. I personally like the bright Orange color, but not the whole kit in Orange plastic. I would think to change color or do something with the interior your going to need a lot of primer there.

Nothing wrong with rattle cans in my mind, I use them on more than 50 % of my builds. Usually with good prep work and heating the cans a little I have been happy with the outcome.
