What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Look at the price of gas in California. As a former 30 + year resident of California I'm sorry to see what they're charging for gas there. Saving more than $2 per gallon at the local Costco now. -
The latest issue of Hot Rod Deluxe has several pictures and information on Kookie Kar as well as its appearance at Pebble Beach.

Kits Missing in Action - GM Muscle Era Intermediates Edition
espo replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Great looking conversion. Please notice the reproduction of my personal '67 El Camino in the picture above my name above. I used the Revell '66 El Camino and their '67 Chevelle SS kit to create it. -
I'm not familiar with the Supernatural franchise but I see a lot of possibilities for this body style. I think we'll be seeing a lot of Vinyl Roofs. Wheel covers have been mentioned by many. The '67 Chevrolet was the first year that power Disc Brakes were offered on the full size car. This required wheels off 15 inches in diameter instead of the standard 14 inch wheel. The Rally Wheel option also appeared at this time. I personally wouldn't normally get excited over a four door anything, Chargers excepted, but I have always liked the look of the Chevrolet line of that era so I'm sure I'll buy a couple just because. I have to agree with those that fear the loss of the '67 Impala SS body. In many ways this opens a host of build possibilities.

Great save. Nice to have those kind of friends also.

Enjoying watching this build. The rear mounted engine is interesting, I'd like to have a 1:1 on the back of my car, no more tailgaters.

I knew of the duel batteries for trucks with the Diesel engine option and the Blazer Camper Special. The dealership I worked at finally sold the one unit that we had at a big loss after paying Flooring on it for over a year. The standard position for a pickup or Blazer with a single battery would be at the passenger side. This was probably because of its proximity too the Alternator and the Starter.

Since this looks like fairly flat parts without a lot of character lines in it. Try either Evergreen sheet styrene, I have used their part #9020 plain .020 thick sheet. Plastruct also offers similar sheet plastic that you could use. Just cut parts to fill the gap and glue to the body. There will be some sanding and shaping but it shouldn't be to difficult.

The hood/body fitment might be from the grill being just a little to upright. See if you can move the grill back just a little and tape it in place. Then check your hood alignment again. If you have ever worked with the old AMT '36 Ford you will see how they both seem to have the same problem. The mounting point on the front fenders may have to be thinned a little to correct.

Try storing them upright, cap tightly secured. This will help keep the painting tip from drying out. Something else to try when the tip goes dry, I use a paper towel to dab the tip against lightly. The towel is very absorbent and seems to draw the fluid from the tip.

I didn't realize that, good to know. Where are you getting their pens ?

Your story reminds me of something I saw in the news a while back. The story was that several wealthy individuals were working with some medical or hospital groups with the goal to pay medical expenses for people with little or no health insurance. Maybe this group is your mystery benefactor.

I know their is an old discussion on the Molotow Pen but I couldn't find it. When I got on my computer this morning one of the many popup ads I noticed was from Amazon Prime. They are offering the 1mm Molotow Pen for $10.43. I'm good with what I have but thought if anyone here is in the market this sounds like a good deal to me. Happy Thanksgiving to all and yours.

That's got to be almost as good as winning the lottery. That would have made me go buy a ticket after finding this out.

Isn't shopping on the internet grand ? Before I'd spend that kind of money for any kit I would want to touch it, count all the parts to make sure it's complete. Sorry to hear about your bad luck, I wonder who the other bidder was ?

1953 Ford F100 Hot Rod

Beautiful paint work. I like the changes to the Hood and the rest of the front end. The interior changes really look good. -
Let me know the next time your friend needs anything in 1/8th, I'd be glad to work out an exchange of some sort.

Issue #206, Contest Issue, MAILED!!!
espo replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got mine yesterday at Hobby Haven in Overland Park Ks. So many great looking builds. The dark pictures mentioned by others may have been the photographer trying to compliment the finished model with a dark background. The problem I think may be from not enough lite on the subject. -
I haven't tried "make it suede" yet but I'll keep that in mind. Another great paint to use is Model Master Fabric colors. I have used their #28136 Tan and #28135 Gray. Both are a Lacquer base, just a word of caution they are somewhat "Hot".

Beautiful looking Camaro. I wouldn't normally care for the Gold Wheel treatment, but it is perfect with the models color scheme. I like the deep set wheels and rubber band tires. The body trim looks great also. The head light doors especially.

This paint product also works well when creating a Vinyl Roof for a model. I'll use a light coat of flat clear dusted over it as a final coat and this will knock down most of any gloss in the finish.

That Dodge pickup parked in front of the posters for "Tell me a story" seems fitting. I wager that old truck could tell a few. -

That's a case of "just because you can doesn't mean you should" . -
AMT Ford Willys Show n Go Engine options?
espo replied to Alexvoc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
oldnslow is correct about the engine. Buicks had a very distinct cover for the spark plugs and wires. The "three stacks" look like an old 3-2's setup. The manifold looks like an art's creation of a "high rise" type manifold. -
Wheel/tire combo question
espo replied to LL3 Model Worx's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Welcome to the Forum. I also like the Minilite wheels that used to be so popular during the late '60's in SCCA Trans Am racing. While I can't find them now, I have picked up the AMT '70 or '71 Mustang kits. These had some very nice wheels and are supposed to be 15" wheels but look more like 14". 64SS350 mentioned the newer Camaro kit and that might be easier to find at this time. As for Fireball Motorworks parts, these are going to be about the best you can find.
