  1. If the frame has glue damage, depending on how bad it is, try sanding the surface as smooth as possible then use a small amount of filler to the areas that are below the surrounding level frame. This will all take some time and effort but give you satisfaction if you are able to save it. The alternative is to of course replace the frame if you have one. Seems like a waste to buy another kit just to get a frame unless there are other parts that you can use on this build.
  2. You say this build fought you, but it looks as though you won. Very nice paint and clean looking trim. I like the white interior also.
  3. The Go Mango paint would look perfect on this Charger. The color is a little lighter shade than the old General was. I have used it on a couple of other builds and found that a White primer will make it a little brighter. Try some spoons or scrap spruce and see which way you prefer.
  4. Drill the remainder of the shocks out from behind or top side of the floor. Just how bad a shape is the original chassis ?
  5. Yesterday we got little more than a dusting too .25 inches. I had to go to the Dentists office in the morning. While not much snow it was blowing and hard to see, people driving like their hair was on fire, wrecks on both side of the freeway. I got off on to the side roads for the last few miles and felt much safer. Should there be an impact it would lessen the damage. Just enough snow that the tires could get a little traction unlike the highways where the traffic was actually packing the light snow and turning it to ice. The thermometer showed 8 degrees this morning. That's pretty cold for around here, but at least the sun is out and the pavement will warm enough to melt off any ice today.
  6. I would lay a couple of pieces of masking tap over the script. Maybe even one layer of tape and then some thin cardboard like a business card and then another layer of tape.
  7. If you should want to correct that minor issue a couple of kits that could supply you with the 396 emblems include the Revell '66 El Camino and Station wagon.
  8. Nice clean looking Charger with nice detailing on the engine and interior.
  9. This looks great and I kind of like the color. I have this kit but the closest I've come to building it was to use the chrome rims on another project. Looking at your build is making me reconsider building one also.
  10. A beautiful piece of music.
  11. Thank you for the link. Great looking pictures. I never thought of such a conversion, but I just happen to have an extra '60 Impala body from a previous build now all I have to do is gather the bumpers, grill and side trim.
  12. I like what you're building here. The problem is now I have to find one of these engines just because.
  13. There is a lot to work with here. A lot of custom body parts, three hoods and more. I think I'd buy one.
  14. I have never undertaken this kit, but I have seen some very impressive ones built using the body and some trim as a bases.
  15. I really like the appearance of this El Camino. Amazing the paint finish still looks this nice after all the man handling of being disassembled. The "little" 283 with the old Duntov 30/30 cam were great performers. I still have a partially done '60 El Camino kit somewhere. Did you have to add the Bel Air trim to the body on this ? While I also have a couple of the AMT '59 El Camino kits I wish they could reissue the '60 also.
  16. Great looking '57. Nice engine detailing and chrome trim on the body. What Hub Caps did you use ?
  17. This is really clean looking. I like the "Cal Custom" looking rocker covers, I had those on my '66 back when. The paint finish is great looking. An aside on the Decals. I notice the decal "409" emblems on the front fenders. The Engine here is representing the introduction of the new "396" Engine to the Chevrolet line.
  18. No need to apologize about anything on this build. As for the white color, that gives any car a very clean understated look. The hood pattern is a little bold, but still looks great to me. If it ever bothers you that much it would be easy to change without effecting the rest of your build. I like how you detailed the engine compartment.
  19. These both have really clean looking finishes. Excellent paint work and the interiors look perfect.
  20. That's a great looking Resin body. I like the tutone combination but the chassis and drive train is really a good idea.
  21. Glad to see you're back in the Studebaker. You mentioned Hot Rodding the Studebaker engine. Consider the Paxton blower set up from the Avanti kit. that kit has two complete setups for either single or duel Paxton blowers.
  22. I'm enjoying watching your build. I like your "Gasket idea". I'll have to remember that for myself.
  23. If you enjoy building pick-ups this is a kit worth try to find. Amazingly items like the hood will interchange with the Revell Suburban kit. The entire kit is a great credit to AMT of old.
  24. Thanks for the link. I have always been a big Pontiac fan and worked in a Pontiac dealership for many years. The body lines and everything else about those cars from the late '50's on where just the finest to me anyway.
  25. I have wondered about the "Coke Red" at times and looking at the product on the market shelves I've come to the conclusion that there is more than one shade of red. This may be rivet counting but I'm pretty good at that sometimes. To my eye the most predominant shade seems to be some where near Tamiya TS-86 Pure Red. or their TS_74 Clear Red over a silver base coat. Again this is based on packaging observed at the market.
