  1. Nice clean looking build. I like the ram air hood also.
  2. I really like this Galaxy. The paint finish is nice and smooth and the black color gives it a great sinister look. The interior colors compliment the overall look.
  3. Beautiful looking, finally. I have had this and a couple of the companion kits that were offered at that time. I just never got around to building any of them and didn't realize until now just how detailed they are.
  4. Great looking conversion. I'm glad you pointed out what all you did since not being real knowledgeable of the difference I wouldn't of noticed the fine detail differences. The paint and trim look very good. I wonder about the rear spoiler, it looks like it might even be upside-down but not sure.
  5. That's a very good looking conversion. The tail gate looks like they added the PONTIAC lettering. As for a 1/25th scale, look at my avatar, this is a picture of a model I built to represent a '67 El Camino I had. I used the Revell '66 El Camino and the front end and seats and door panels and the tail lights and rear bumper from a '67 Revell SS396 to complete. These two kits are not as compatible as they should be but it is doable. A model of the GTO - El Camino wouldn't be that hard really. The tail lights and tail gate might offer the biggest challenge depending on how much you want the rear to look like a Pontiac.
  6. I have a light with an arm that allows it to be moved around as needed. The light it's self is a florescent tube that incircles a magnifying glass for fine detail work. The light can be moved around over the work area as needed for normal assembly work. MOst any office supply store would have it and it and others are easily found on line. Just a thought for the future.
  7. I have often looked at a model I built years ago and wondered what I was thinking, it could be color or some other detail. Corvette offered some interesting colors at that time and Red was one of the more popular ones. I'm looking at the picture and I notice the front bumpers look rather thick, meaning they stick out from the body further than I would think. Could be the angle of the photo but something to look at anyway.
  8. Well now you know why they were $10. Big challenge with this one. The overall appearance and shape of the body looks good. You can see the Mercury roots in this body just like the 1:1. This will be interesting to watch.
  9. I agree the Sovereigns are your best bet for the lowrider look. Don't recall seeing many Corvettes done in this manor, but I have seen a few 1:1's done that way years ago.
  10. All ways nice to have your own space. Your work desk looks nice and well organized. I don't know what type of overhead lighting you might have, but it looks like you're going to need additional lighting.
  11. Some of the "tuner" style kits have small tires and the AMT Corvair kits had them also. the problem is that most of the small diameter tires usually only fit small diameter wheels.
  12. We got a new '98 GMC Jimmy for my wife. This model had the memory seat option, so when ever she drove the car it would recognize her key and the seat would adjust to her setting. The problem was that she would be driving down the freeway and hit a bump or a big expansion crack in the roadway and the seat would start to pin her to the steering wheel. She's 5'10" so this becomes a real problem at 70 + MPR. After several trips to the dealer we got a Tech. who seemed to know what he was doing. When they car was built and they installed the seat wiring it was improperly routed under the seat frame and this would cause the seat to go to the full forward position under certain road conditions. He rerouted the wiring correctly and no more problems.
  13. I like the shortened pick-up bed. Very nice paint finish. Did you use a Jag engine ?
  14. This looks just like the 1:1 TV car. You got every little part hanging off this in a very realistic way. The finish is perfect.
  15. Very clean looking build. I like the paint finish and the color goes well with the interior.
  16. I enjoy looking at all of the little details everywhere you look in this.
  17. I like the diorama setting. I question if the Intake Manifold would still be on the Engine with the Heads off. Great detailing of the engine parts and the front suspension. I'm interested in the tire tread design on the front tires. Were they from this kit ?
  18. Looks great to me. You're right about the interior and the engine bay, they both look good. I also like the paint color and finish. These were under appreciated cars when new. The OHC 6 could be had with everything from a fuel sipping single carb. running on regular gas too a premium fuel big cam'd Quadra Jet carb. and a 3-speed or a 4-speed and the TH350 auto.
  19. You are correct on the price of the Chris Craft. When I lived in Sacramento we would often go to Lake Tahoe and we attended the annual Boat Show there several times. The owners of a few of this model of boat were always there at the show. As I recall they were only offered starting around 1949 and only built thru the early '50's. This to me is still one of the best looking wooden boats ever. They still have this show every year during the summer, anyone living within driving distance with any interest in restored wooden boats should make it a point to attend this event. Many of the owners even dress in the period of their boats and there is also some period boat tow vehicles also on display.
  20. Beautiful looking build. Exceptional chassis detailing. The paint finish is great also.
  21. Great idea for your build. Both sides are well done and very realistic looking.
  22. Sure looks like the real thing. To bad you didn't get a chance to verify if it was real or not. The paint and interior look almost to good to be that old so it may of been redon at some point.
  23. I bought a late '30's Chrysler a very long time ago. I paid $50.00 for it and it was intact and ran well. I bought it for some planed activities with some friend for Halloween. Being in our late teens you figure out what we were up to, and yes Coors was involved also as I recall. The problem with the old Chrysler was that with age the threads in the brake drums where the lug bolts attached the wheels were worn and the right front had to be retightened periodically. I even tried using lock washers. No this is a very bad idea, but I got bolts that I welded to the inside of the right front brake drum and then regular wheel lug nuts to attach the wheel. This lasted well enough during the festivities and was still in use when I sold the car for much more than I paid for it only a couple of months later. Ever since then I have been very carful to be sure any vehicle I have driven was in good working order. You might call it Self Preservation on my part.
  24. Great looking paint work and the decals turned out well also.
  25. Wow ! Is this based on a kit I don't know about or is from some other kit that heavily modified ? The body and paint look great.
