I looked around their web site today but couldn't find the wheels I purchased. The packaging has very little in English so that part was difficult. The only identifying information I could see was that the wheels "SA-style" and had a part #OW-4 and the chrome wheels were part #OW-7. The wheels that I could find looked as if they were packaged with the parts for two wheels and a steering wheel. They showed three different style of wheels but they were different than the ones I bought. The wheels I got look just like the five spoke Americans. Besides the high quality detail on the wheels they also have three different sized outer wheel half's so that you some options depending on the tire width you may be using.

1974 Dodge Tradesman Van
espo replied to tuffone20's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The finish on your build looks just like a 1:1 Dodge Van. The delivery to Worman and the crew at GYC must have been a special experience. Is Mark as crazy in person as on TV ? -
So many subtle details, the longer I look at the pictures the more details I notice.

I'm enjoying your walk down memory lane as you unpack. Great looking builds all.
-
Great color combination and I like the "Yanko" look under the hood.
-
Glad to see your X respected your builds, it usually doesn't work that way I can assure you. Your Firebird looks great, just letter the other tires to match.

Looks like it's been sitting in the corner of a body shop for years. I'd have sprayed it with flat clear and put it on the shelf.

Beautiful paint job, and as cruz pointed out the textures for the interior and top look perfect.

The body proportions look perfect to me. You have all of the door openings and trim done perfectly.

I picked up a couple of sets of wheels at the Hartland Model Swap & Show in June. They're from a company called Orange Wheels by Asuka Models. The packaging shows a web site asukamodel.com. These are rims only and are extremely detailed. The ones I got are a five spoke design with the option of three different outer wheel depths. The centers have holes for lug nuts and a separate wheel hub is provided with the lug nuts to go thru the wheel center. There is separate dust caps to cover the center of the wheel hub if desired. They are 1/24th scale and look amazing.

Revell is back in Northlake IL

I have seen pictures of Opel's of more resent vintage that looked interesting. They may even sell more BMW's and Mercedes than they realize. I'd like to see some of their "Shutting Brake" models and a nice Audi would work. -
It would seem that my suggestion of a Mexican Blanket may not be the best idea in this case. Reading the suggestions of others has shown far better ideas, and opened my eyes to some excellent interior alternatives. I have used decals from Scale Motor Sport, their part #SKU: 1981.

I agree 100 %. In this part of the country everyone seems to try and buy a bigger SUV than anyone else and in most cases they're hard pressed to operate a Golf Cart. Some of these vehicles are getting big enough as to put the operator in a different licensing category. I think they should have to have a license along the lines of a Bus Operators Permit since they are getting very close to that size. The big problem comes about when they park them. As you are experiencing in your video. They are of such a size and the driver is so lacking in ability to operate these things that when they "park" it looks more like someone abandoned the thing. I see almost daily these things parked in such a way that they have their tires in three adjoining parking spots.

Aha, what we used to call the "Farmer Blow", finger upside the nose. I agree that it can seem like something we take for granted as normal may seem very unusual to others. I have problems with allergies and I use a handkerchief often. My wife is a Kleenex person, and the inside of her car is covered in a fine coating of white Kleenex dust. I wonder what your friend from Pakistan went home and told of his experience.

Looks perfect to me. I like the ride height and the tires are much more fitting for such a truck. Great paint job and the white painted wheels look right. -
I will enjoy watching this project. The interior could be covered with a Mexican Blanket and might look perfect depending on how nice you're building the rest of the model. I love the TROG cars.

As I recall the manufactures started trying out three tone cars around '55 models. The ones I remember most were the Dodges and De Soto's, Buicks were the only GM product that I can remember. The Edsel's were actually about the last models to use this style of paint treatment. Some of the color combinations including the combination you used look very nice at that time. What I meant by saying that you wouldn't go unnoticed was that they would catch your eye in a good way. I tried to convince my father we should have an Edsel when they came out, he was a very conservative type and didn't want to draw attention in that way. We carried on with a '56 Chevrolet 210 4 door 6 Cyl. 3 speed manual transmission with black wall tires, he splurged on a blue and white color combination since that was the only one the Chevrolet dealer had at the time. Like I said he wanted to be inconspicuous.

You know what, he's right.

Great photos, thank you for sharing. So many good looking builds.

The example of the interior in the 1:1 white convertible looks like a very nice semi-custom interior. You might look at www.oldbrochures.com and see what the original sales brochures show for interiors. I think that a majority of the images you will find on line and else where are of cars that have been modified in many ways, and the interiors are often done in this fashion.

‘50 Ford “Miss Chiquita”
espo replied to Gerald Haney's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That's a tuff looking little truck. Great Patina, not over done and the perfect flat finish. The wheel tubs look natural in the bed. I'd love to see the power plant on this, and the interior. -
Moebius 1970 Ford Custom Cab 4x4
espo replied to cobraman's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great looking 4 X 4. The Green color looks very much like the Thunder Bird Cascade Green from that era. The "Barber Pole" paint job on the drive shafts made me smile. -

I like the color combination. So used to seeing the "Little Red Wagon" it's nice to see one built in this manor.
