This reminds me of some of the first "models" I built as a child. Mine was supposed to be a '32 Ford roadster, but was of the same basic construction as this streamliner. At the time this was a very big deal.

As you may have come to realize your build has been moved. For some reason they put it under Big Rigs. You should contact who ever moved it and have them put your build in the Pick-up section otherwise it will get lost.

Beautiful looking build. This looks just like the real thing sitting on the showroom floor. All of the details from the body trim and paint to the interior and also under the hood are very sharp and cleanly done.

Looks almost to pretty to inter in such a Rally. I like all the extra details you crafted with the bungy hold downs on the roof rack and the spare and chain in the trunk. Well thought out Rally car.

I like the body design on this. I have seen others who have built this body and used the Shelby Wht / Blue stripes paint design. Almost any shade of Red would look good. What colors do you like on most of your builds ? Maybe something you have never tried before since this is a little unusual anyway.

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding about my reply. I knoew that you had seen this on line video of some guy building this kit and you didn't have any confidence in his abilities based on what he was doing. What I was trying to suggest was to follow the information that Bill Geary was offering.

I built the Ventura shortly after it was released. Bill Geary - MrObssesive was doing the same model at that time. He was kind enough to share many of his little touches that made all the difference in the world on the outcome of that build. I think if you look at the information he is offering on the wheels and follow how he fit the front and rear glass you will find that there really is only some fine tuning that needs to be done, and isn't that part of building models anyway ?

I agree, with the lowered suspension the front tires look almost bigger than the rears.

There is enough contact between the firewall and the grill to cause the grill to standout to much. Minor surgery on both can be done to correct the fit issues. There is also a couple of minor adjustments to the wheels to make the offset more realistic. This and the Catalina are beautiful kits and the detail on them both is outstanding.

The TS-92 from Tamiya is maybe the easiest to work with, but a couple of other paints to consider are from Testors in their One Coat Lacquer series. They have two different shades of Orange Mt. and as you have already found the color can be changed by what color primer you use. Their #1831 Mica Fiery Orange is the lighter of the two. The other is #1840 Flaming Orange is a little brighter.

Some resemblance to the Honda trucklit.

The color look great. I like the stance and they wheels are perfect.

I like the Tri-Power setup, was that in the kit ? The dash is going to look great when you're finished. Are you going to have a Consul or just the shifter on the floor ?

I like the way you added to the hood to make everything line up. This is an area that often looks like it had been modified while yours flows like that is the way it had always been. You mentioned the top chop above the drip rails. This is an area that I have felt was never right in the first place, just seemed to tall. I also didn't realize the amount of taper in the cab sides until I saw your pictures and how you fixed that. So far this looks like a well thought out '50's style custom. Are you going to keep the Corvette tail lights in the Chevrolet fenders or do something else there ?

I agree with you on the Glass Packs. Everyone now seems to like the Magnaflow or Flowmaster mufflers. Of the two I like the sound from the Flowmasters and have had them on several different cars but not on a Y Block. Up until the early '90's I would always use 26" to 30" Glass Packs on any car or truck when I changed the exhaust system. You mentioned this older Y Block with the very low oil pressure. It would almost be a shame to ruin the block and crank by running to long on low oil pressure. But then there is always that challenge to see just how long it will hang on. The 3x2 setup on the truck gave me very little problems after I went through the carbs. I used a mechanical linkage setup and It would run fine in normal driving on the center carb. After about half throttle the two end carbs would open and you could really feel the difference at wide open throttle.

Glad to see you're getting a chance to work on this again. I like the colors for the interior. As I recall the seat inserts were a few shades darker and that really added to the appearance.
