"Wine & Cheese Race cars". I enjoy Wine and Cheese, and I like where you're going with this. The model looks very much as I remember from the old days. The thing about this type of racing was that the cars were much closer to stock than any other form of racing before or since. Look forward to watching your project.

You might want to look in the Aftermarket/Resin section on this Forum. There is a link that lists many suppliers who specialize in parts to modify almost anything ever offered by the major model suppliers

I wonder where the crane operator and the site manager are working now.

Thank you for sharing these photos. I always enjoy seeing what others are building and get a lot of inspiration from their builds.

I know how you fought this one tooth and nail but the effort sure paid off. Turned out beautiful. -

Great looking build. I like your color choice. What was your source for the seats and what color did you use ? My compliments on the correct routing of the plug wires, so many get it wrong. I'm at about this same stage on the Suburban version of this kit, I would suggest pressing the plug wires against the back of the engine before matting the chassis and the body. You may have already planed on that but the wires are sure to snag on the firewall otherwise. -
Another great looking build. I like the Mad Max style and all of the modifications that go along with that.

Very nice looking builds considering the experience of the builder and the products that you had to work with at the time. Cotton thread spark plug wires was cutting edge technology at the time. The fact that you still have them and they are in good condition is pretty amazing.

I'd like to see more of the engine you created since that is the big change on this. The body and finish look perfect for a car left in the elements to long.
-
Belt is to wide ? From the picture it looks as if you added a detailed Alternator and mounting bracket. Could this be changed in some way to fit ? If you just want to do something different on the engine I might be able to trade you for something you can use.

Glad to see that this is still around. Your body work really looks smooth.

The different shades of Tan/Beige interior colors can very widely. I suggest looking at some of the Tamiya colors when you go shopping again. Colors that I have used in the past from light to dark are TS-68 Wooden Deck Tan, AS-15 Tan (USAF), Ts-46 Light Sand, TS-3 Dark Yellow, and AS-22 Dark Earth (RAF). Their Military colors dry with a perfect look of a Leather interior. They offer many others but these I have been pleased with.

I saw that movie. My wife and I still use that line "Is that your friend in the Wood Chipper?" always good for a laugh. I based my statement on life's experiences and some heavy payments in the past. There were some dark days , but in the end I have found the most wonderful person to spend the rest of my life with. This is why I would encourage anyone in this position to not give up and don't do anything stupid that you will regret later, they just aren't worth your time and energy.

My land line and cell both ring several times a day. I may glance at the Caller ID on the phone and answer only if it's someone I want to talk to. otherwise I let it go. If it's really important they can leave a message and I'll call back , but most Crank Calls only ring three times and don't leave a message.

In some states that could be covered under the "Justifiable Homicide Law". In reality when a relationship has reached this point it's better to cut your losses, pay your alimony if need be, and just move on. The other party has lost all respect for you and any resemblance of the relationship you may of once had. Say good bye and then get on with your life.

I was in the car business for most of my adult life. When the Spectrum came out they were almost impossible to sell. The sales staff called them by another name referring to a part of the male anatomy that rimes with Spectrum.

I like your Grill choice. Are you going to try and match it up with the stock parking Lamp moldings ?? I see you flipped the front Bumper also, it gives it another interesting styling element.

As I mentioned before I think this a great color. I have used it on a couple of builds in the past and it has always turned out looking much like your finish. I don't doubt but what the Orange plastic has a curtain "bleed thru" since colors in this range tend to do that. But looking at the picture it very closely resembles the color on my two builds. As others have mentioned, the plastic spray can top is only close at best. In my case I used gray primer. If anything it looks like the Orange plastic may make the color a little richer and add some depth to the color. Your foil trim looks perfect.

That rack looks very well planed out, just like some real ones I have seen. -
I'll remember that for when I replace the Mouse that keeps getting it's cord wrapped around my knee and foot.

A couple of thoughts. #1 The "barking dog" from Takuda, is this the same company making the Air Bags in your car ?? If so would you really want one of those. #2 This whole APP thing on your phone. I see the possibility of advantages, but can't these things be broken into while you order your Latte at Starbucks ? I don't know if anyone else saw the bit on the Today show a few weeks back when they were showing the faults of the new UPS delivery system that allowed you to unlock your door and see who was delivering the package. It showed just how easy it was to hack the system to where you don't see them removing the TV and furniture from your house. So now you're going to arm your home security system, open and close your garage doors, and even start your car from your phone. What could possibly go wrong ????

You might check the After Market / Resin section on this Forum. There is a section that lists many suppliers of aftermarket parts that may offer something that will help.

So far you have a very real looking old truck going here, You have received many good tips, and I have learned a great deal also. The only thing I might add would to be to look at the wheels. In the picture they don't look like the body. Maybe looking at pictures of old trucks and cars could give you some ideas for a look that better matches the weathering you have already done. -
Don't ever let your wife talk you into selling it. This has happened to often to myself as home and other expenses have been to easily solved by selling old unreplaceable treasures. Lost my retirement '05 GTO after nine years because it had only 35000 miles and the cost of insurance and licensing and was sold so my wife could get a new somewhat forgettable new car.
