    Very clean build and definitely a Day 2 car. I noticed the Metal Flake Steering Wheel and the long Shackles. I remember the Mufflers dangling from the Collectors on the Headers. A MoPar at that time wasn't a MoPar without Cragers .
  2. I enjoy seeing what some modelers are doing with the Slant Six. I like the Turbo idea.
  3. I would save the Trans Am as you never know when that body may come in handy. Just buy a box of plastic spoons at the market. This will give you something to test paint on for a long time and cost next to nothing.
  4. I seriously looked at the Pump and tried to figure out just how I would do it and not remove the front of the body to get to it. I couldn't get my hand in there with it flat let alone turn a ratchet or any other tool.
  5. Beautiful looking build. Very clean sharply detailed all the way thru. The colors you used give it a very rich appearance.
  6. In all fairness to the dealer when the Water Pump went out on the Charger I had them replace it. This is a job I have done countless number of times on just about every make of car, at least US cars since that is all that is in my driveway, My hats off to anyone who can change this Water Pump .
  7. You sure that's not the real car ? I, like so many others, watched your build and the effort you put into this. Until the picture with your hand in it, it is imposable to tell it from the 1:1.
  8. Your interior looks fine. The contrasting color on the seat inserts was common on these cars depending on how much Sun they were exposed too. I like the Carpeting you did.
  9. Have our '10 Charger serviced at the selling dealer on a regular bases. Cheaper than if I bought my own Oil and Filter and then got ride of the old stuff plus I don't get dirty. The Service Writer told be the Battery checked out weak in there Inspection Report. This was a couple of years ago. The great flat cold state of Kansas is having another record 0 Degree type Winter and no problems yet. I know it's the OEM Battery and it will die someday but for now I'm waiting to see just how long it will last. Same dealer serviced our '09 Wrangler and wanted to replace the Radiator cap $26.00 and the rear Window Wiper for an additional $45.00. Drove up the street to an Auto Parts Store and got a new Cap and Wiper installed didn't even get my hands dirty for $25.00. I know the Dealer has to make a profit but lets be serious.
  10. I can see advantages both for this NEW gate or the conventional style depending on what it is you are using the truck for. I may be mistaken but I think it was Lincoln a few years ago that had something like this on their Black Wood Pretty Truck model. My personal choice would be the conventional tail gate, but I could see someone who only used their truck as if it was a big car with an open trunk could get excited over this.
  11. The interior looks great. I agree that AMT didn't really pay attention to the way GM would have had the A/C compressor positioned, but you made it all look good anyway.
  12. You might want to check at an Auto Parts Store for what we used to call a "fish eye" for your side view mirrors. They are usually a peal and stick type of an attachment for the side view mirrors and give you a much wider field of vision.

  14. Very clean looking build. Makes me wish we could see the interior also. Extensive engine room detailing. Did the Air Conditioning Compressor and all of the hoses come in the kit or did you create all of that ??

    You build turned out far better looking than all the horror stories I have heard about this kit. Looks like a nice baseline body style and not the Super De Lux we 're used to seeing.
  16. So this is what you call "Rough around the edges". Looks to me to be something far beyond that. This is about as realistic looking as you can get. Not many 1:1 show cars turn out this nice, and the photography is also. The fit and finish on this model is exceptional.

  18. That is very impressive surgery. This is going to be a great looking Phantom.
  19. You could always sand the grill smooth so that the V-8 emblem isn't showing and find a 6 cylinder engine that looks like a Ford I-6. Another thought is to find one of the engines that show the Rocker Arm detail and have it displayed with the valve covers off. As Ace pointed out it could have anything under the hood, that was pretty common years ago. Do you have an old Cadillac or Oldsmobile engine in your Junk Pile ?
  20. As a builder I have never understood why someone would pay more for a built model that an unbuilt in the box like new kit that you could build yourself the way you want it to be. As an example, I have taken part in the "Swap Meet" portion of a local Model Show, to sell duplicate kits or something I find I'm just never going to build. I price these kits at a fair price and less than they can be purchased new even with the 40% off coupon. People will still try all kinds of ploys to barter on this price, and then go to the guy at the next table selling the same exact kit that has been built and partially disassembled and thrown in a Zip Lock Bag and pay more for it. I just don't understand what they are thinking. Even if they are only wanting to "mine" the parts at least in my kits they are all still there and in perfect condition. Should they be thinking of building the kit it would be better to start if a perfect kit. The effort to disassemble, clean and rebuild the "Baggy" kit would be far greater than starting with a good new kit.

I think what Snake was trying to point out was the very nice model you are building has the 396 cu in engine and there are several aspects of the very nice build that the Z-28 package would never have been compatible with from Chevrolet back in the day. The Z-28 package was only available on the Hard Top and was designed to qualify the Camaro to race in a specific class with the SCCA. The only engine would have been a 302 Cu In with a single 4 barrel carb. There was an option of 2-4's on a unique intake manifold that was shipped in the trunk for the dealer to install if ordered. The 4 speed manual was the only Transmission and front Disc Brakes were also standard and Four Wheel Disc were a very expensive option. The Z28 had many unique Suspension parts that were used on the Z28 only for improved handling. As for the exterior beside standard exterior you could order the Rally Sport equipment and the interior could be had in standard or custom interior. Even the Stripes over the hood and trunk along with the Spoiler were options, but try and find one with out them. The Z28 package was far more than stripes but that sometimes gets lost in the mist of time. You are modeling a very special car in its own right based on the Super Sport and Rally Sport Trim Packages you are replicating on this Convertible and with a 396 engine it would have been a real "Animal" in 1969.
