  1. That looks like a very nice kit. I have always thought Jaguars were handsome looking cars.
  2. I happen to like Mr. Lutz and respect his wisdom I think people should pay more attention to his insight as to the operation of big automobile companies. More than a few people have questioned why he didn't do more to improve the different companies when he was there. If you listen to what he is saying you start to realize the politics that goes on in the automotive business and I believe most large companies. Listening to how he describes how and why things and product came about you realize all to often the "leaders" of a company are only worried about their bonus and not the over all health of the company. Mr. Lutz is a very wise person on business in general and the car business in particular. The fact that someone has worked for several different companies in the same industry does not always mean there is something wrong with the individual but more that they did what the were allowed to do and often leave out of sheer frustration because they in fact often know a better way but they get passed over because they will not "play the game" that the people at the top are doing to only enrich themselves and not the company, this is very short sighted on the companies part but that does seem to be how the American auto manufactures have done business for decades and they still are trying to figure out why so many other off shore manufactures are doing so well in the market place. As for an electric car I'm no fan and just how are the states going to tax us to pay for the road repairs. Sometimes people forget that the burning of fuels to create electricity also create more pollution than the automobile it's self. The only way it could really improve is if we use Solar or Wind.
  3. That looks like a copy of the old AMT kit.
  4. Outstanding build. The colors and shading really look great.
  5. Great looking Torino and the Maverick also. This is how a majority of them looked.
  6. That is a beautiful showroom stock type build. The vinyl roof and interior look perfect. After seeing so many of these as Police Cars or Taxis it's nice to see a top of the line model.
  7. I'm extremely sorry to hear about the loss of your child. I can't even fathom what that would be like for anybody. My wife and I have no children together but I have two sons by my first marriage. We got involved in bicycling shortly after we got married. We were living in Sacramento Ca. and my job at a local Chevrolet dealer demanded long hours and a constantly changing schedule. After we married my wife went back to school at U.C. Sacramento to get her degree. This gave us a few mornings a week together to ride the bike trail that runs along the Sacramento river. The trail goes from Folsom Lake all the way to Old Sac. We would usually get to ride about 20 to 30 miles and then get some breakfast together before I went to work and she went to classes. We both staid pretty slim then. I'm retired now and I don't golf so maybe this is the time to get the bike out., of course we may be getting a little snow in the next month or so. No more excuses I'm doing this.
  8. I'm 6'2'' and have been around 225 to 235 lbs. most of my adult life. As I got older and less physical I was getting over 250 lbs. I'm now at 285 lbs. and look pregnant as I carry all my weight around the middle. Your mention of bicycling reminds me of something I used to enjoy. I still have a Schwinn Moab hanging in the garage. Maybe I should get my fat @‌$$ out there and ride. Thanks for the idea.
  9. Come on everyone, can't we just all get along. I would prefer to celebrate what Moebius is bringing to our hobby. I personally think the little Chevy II will be a welcome addition and I'll build them the way I like. The 1:1 Ford F series has been the number one selling truck for years so it's safe to say that should do well. While I'm not a Big Rig builder I think it's a great idea that they are serving this segment of our hobby. Just think of all the great things they could bring to use if they do well in the market place with all of their offerings. This will mean more great models for all of us.
  10. Great looking paint and decals. I remember reading many profiles on this car and it's owner. I remember a couple of different wheel combinations from the pictures in the articles so as Ace pointed out you could use several different wheel combs.
  11. Great looking Nova. I share your concerns with Thyroid Cancer. A few years ago I had a growth around my Larynx and Thyroid. They had to remove half of the Thyroid but other than fighting a weight problem I'm 100%. I hope you get well soon.

    Citroen DS19

Great looking build of a somewhat unusual subject. I had an opportunity to ride in one around 1960 or so. I got in and we had to wait for the Air Ride Suspension to compensate for me being in the car before we could drive off. The ride was smoother than anything I had ever been in at that time. I always thought they were ahead of their time.
  13. The garage looks as big as the house and your headed to the track to play with your Altered. Seems perfectly normal to me.
  14. I think this has happened to everybody at one or a hundred times in life. I have a carpeted model room with a couple of office type plastic carpet covers under the desk. Sometimes listening to the part ricochet off the desk and on the floor gives me an idea of where to start looking. Seriously what I have found that works for me is to get a flash light and I lay down on the floor. By shining the light across the floor, even the carpet I can usually find the part quickly before I think it's knap time while I'm down there. Give it a try.
  15. I see what you mean, I didn't think to look for any additional pictures. I agree on the time line and from this photo the driver looks as though he just has long hair. The first photo looked like a Flat Top that I remember having at the earlier time period. Who ever put this together was very creative did a good job since it was most likely built in their home garage.
  16. Great looking BMW 3. You got the right stance and the color is perfect.

    1962 IMPALA SS

Beautiful build of a beautiful car. That has to be one you regret ever getting selling.
  18. Great looking model, I really like the Engine Turned Gold Lettering on the side.
  19. Ford had the best looking hood design in the "Tear Drop" hood. You are correct in the gray engine compartment and even the whole underside of the car. The race cars I was involved in we used an even lighter shade since you were usually working with minimal light and you would often be under the car with nothing but some card board between you and the gravel. On models I have used Tamiya AS-26 Light Ghost Grey aircraft color and it is very close to what we used on the 1:1 cars.
  20. I think the time frame would be the early to mid '50's based upon the size of the White Walls, the engine used would still be available in wrecking yards. And the hair styles, how many guys remember having a Flat Top with Fenders. The roadsters body has some interesting modifications. I noticed the body molding along the bottom of the body suddenly takes a strange turn at the cowl area. Is there even a door on the passenger side ? There looks to be home made motorcycle type fenders on the rear tires. The wheels look like 15" Ford pick up wheels.
  21. Like so many others I have also had leakers. I think it may have todo with the can making process. I knew a guy years ago that had worked for Cambell Soup Company and he was in the quality control department at the cannery and he explained to me how they make the cans and just how close the tolerance had to be in the assembly so that the cans wouldn't leak. This was for soup that is under little or no pressure, so containing paint under pressure I would think this would be even more important. It might be a good idea to notify Testors of your problem and see how they respond to the information. Even if they choose not to do anything at least they will see just how wide spread the problem is and do something about it in the future.
  22. I wonder if your paint issue on the hood is from using paints from different manufactures? I know that sometimes the formula is just enough different that they don't play nice together. The hood looks as if the first layer of paint might not of dried enough yet to paint over.
  23. I have know idea about the differences in the kits other than the front grills seem to be a different shape.
  24. Beautiful looking build. The color combination looks perfect on this.
  25. Great chassis work, I like the wood insert support. Did the wheels come in this kit ? The wheel centers look different.
