Almost disappointed that the roof feature will be removed. I think it would give it more of a factory look. But that's just my opinion, I'm still going to get one. Thank you for the heads up on the Flintstone connection. Any idea yet when they might be offering this body ?

The swip you are thinking of was a thin aluminum sheet that had a gold anodized finish on the 1:1 car. The kits decal sheet provides a decal but it isn't very accurate. Bruce did a great job in replicating the OEM look and it might be nice if he could share with use how he did that. I have tried Gold Bare-Metal foil, but it is on the thick side. I have also foiled the area and then painted it with Tamiya clear orange paint and got close.

Beautiful looking builds. I remember when you were working on the Hudson. Would love to have a cruiser like that.
-
Both very nice builds. I wouldn't worry to much about the paint it looks fine.

You are almost as good a story teller as you are a model builder. Sound like something from Lake Wobegone. Great builds.

Could that be one of the Hurtz Rent A Racer from back in the day? Notice the H in the nomenclature in the white stripe. Really nice clean build.

Bad to the bone. These cars were only afraid of each other at the strip. You really captured the appearance on this one.

Beautiful build. The color is outstanding and the scallop painting really sets it off.

Unbelievable detailing on these builds. I hope your health continues to improve for 2017.

Beautiful builds. The GTO is a personal favorite, and having owned two of the square Chevrolet trucks I can say you nailed that "short step".

Really like the roof paint treatment and the interior.

Beautiful looking build. I would never have thought of using that color on that year model build, but really makes it standout.

My last '16 build. AMT '40 Ford vintage box art

I think you nailed that sedan. The color is perfect and it looks like the box art was based on your build. That kit was about the second or third model I ever built and have always liked it. -
Great looking builds. Got to love the Hudson and the unusual tutone '57 Ford wagon.

Great idea on the chassis switch. The '64s were a beautiful car. I had two coworkers who ordered identical Galaxy 500 hard tops with the 390 and 4-speed. Both were the medium blue metallic with white bucket seat interiors. When ever one did something wrong the other would get blamed for it. From the picture it looks like your father may of had extended shackles or air shocks on the rear suspension.

That is a great looking kit. Like so many others I covet a BMW but unless I win the Lottery it's just not going to happen. Have you considered getting some touch up paint at the dealer so you could get the color your looking for ? Most BMW 5's seem to be either black or gray or silver. It would be nice to see something with a little personality.

I have cannibalized a few of these kits for their good parts but never built one. The side view looks almost as if the wheel base its self is to short. The front tires are to far back in their opening and the rears of course are to far forward. Can the suspension be relocated in such a way that everything would line up?

You really need to cast this body for those of us less able builders. Look forward to following this build.

The detailing on this build is just outstanding. Especially with the issues with your hands. Hope in 2017 everything gets better for you.

I like the theme with the basic wagon. Who's wagon body is that anyway ? I'm going to steal your trailer idea, really makes it look more substantial.

The engine looks perfect. Very impressive fabrication on the fire wall and inner door.

I was a heavy smoker into my early twenties. 2-3 packs a day of the old red Pall Malls before they invented filter tips. Yes I would light one off of the old one. I got a sinus infection and was deathly ill. The doctor told me if I wanted to live to see my grand children that I would have to stop now. I only got one grand son out of the deal and my son doesn't even know now where he or his ex are. So that didn't turn out well. Like so many other I gained weight since then I could really taste food for the first time in years. Being an ex smoker I really can't stand to be around smokers at all. I just never realized the smell that was in my hair and on my clothing when I smoked.

How to safely strip paint from a promo
espo replied to chriscarroll.ogre's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This roof may work for your Chevrolet build IF it is a pilard four door sedan. The hardtop body style used a flat top type roof with the top hanging over the rear window. -
#1 The larger rear wheel wells may be there because of the drag option with slicks and all. #2 The distributer shielding would be on any Corvette with an OEM radio. Remember these bodies were fiberglass and the distributer would make the radio sound like a musical tachometer. Other than a few fitment issues here and there this is a good base kit.
