  1. Inquiring minds need to know. What are you up to here? I notice the rough finish on part of the cab and body. The interior looks good and I like the bed area that you are putting together. I figure it's going to be a Surf theme, great looking board tether on the body side. The rear bed cover has a very survivalist look to it. Looks like another fun build.
  2. That is so much better. The original model was almost a candidate for a weathered special.
  3. I just picked up this same kit yesterday. Like you pointed out about the front suspension, it sits very high out of the box. Others have mentioned a forth coming Drag version and that may account for the front end set to high. I also am going the K code engine type build. The kit has some very nice finned aluminum valve covers included on the chrome tree. These would be a FoMoCo parts counter special and not stock, but I'm inclined to use them. The air cleaner is for the more standard 289 so an air cleaner would have to be procured some where. I like your Yellow idea, they had a very nice soft Yellow that looked good with the black interior or the light saddle interior. Look forward to following your build.

    AMT1963 Corvette

Very nice clean build. As the Snake said you just don't see the roadster any more. Just saw the latest reissue of the split window today at HL.
  5. That's a good idea, kind of like a roadster.
  6. Looks great, I like the color combo.
  7. Great idea for a build. I remember seeing one at the Good Guys with a similar build and suspension idea. He was tearing up the Autocross track. The engine looks like it is sitting very nose high, don't know if you have finalized the engine mount issues yet.
  8. Great looking build so far. The painted stripes look much better than the decals, they just never look quite wright.
  9. I really like the switch to a sedan with the B pillar. Great back ground story on this build. Since I just picked up this model to build I'll watch your build also. I also noticed the lower A arms looked a little off as you mentioned.
  10. Beautiful builds. Love the '60's muscle cars.

    '58 Impala

Beautiful looking cruiser. The foil on the side moldings look much better than the kit chrome. The molding on the front edge of the hood, is it maybe up side down ?
  12. Beautiful build. Had a family friend who owned one of these back in the day. They were a sight to behold. Love the black paint job. You are correct it is a real job to get it wright, but worth the extra effort.
  13. What a great build. I like the way you have upgraded everything.
  14. What to with the "daisy panel" area may depend what kind of look your going for. Some ideas would be a convertible boot. See if you can get any parts from the AMT '50 Ford convertible. They should be close and the kit had the options of a down top boot, an up convertible top, and a Carson type top for a chopped version. Depending on what you are planning for the windshield area, that same kit has both a stock height and a chopped top windshields in it. You could also create your own "fabric" cover for the rear area. Depending on the era you may be trying to build too, in the late '50's and early '60's it was common to see a fabric cover that would cover that area and even come up to the back of the front seat. Hope that gives you something to consider.
  15. The suspension is very delicate and you are correct removing the wheels may very well destroy the suspension. I don't know for sure if it would work, but maybe try some of the glue de-bonders on the market. That way if you can remove the wheels and tires you can move on to what ever else you have planed
  16. I have bought a couple of these kits thru the years, just never built one. The box art and the body proportions just put me off enough that I didn't want to bother. I look forward to what you make of this kit. You mentioned using the big block Chevy engine, I noticed the carburetor looks wrong on the instruction sheet. If it is a Carter AFB carb then while not stock and older technology than the big block that's OK. If this is a Holly carb, which would of been OEM and or a typical upgrade at that time it should be turned length wise north/south instead of east/west. I notice that the interior seats are an interesting design. They look almost like some of the Camaro seats from the early '80's.
  17. That's because everything is still cool. When it becomes the other way around, well good luck with that.
  18. That must have been a fun build. I like the body color effect you got.
  19. Looks like it has sat out behind the building for a very long time. Perfect.

    class of 2016

Thank you Tom. IT was harder than you would think to get the bed and cab body lines to match. I was only able to get the windshield and rear window to work with advice from others on the Forum. The interior has the dash and seat from the AMT '57 Chevy. The Impala's hood made use of the cowl induction portion of the Revell Nova SS hood.

    40 Fords

That sedan looks like it could haul Shine. With a gloss coat the green would look very much like a Ford OEM color.
  22. Beautiful builds. The Corvette are really special.
  23. Great clean looking builds. I like the quad headlight conversion on the Del Rio, that was a common thing back in the day on the 1:1 cars.

    Aoshima Explosion

Clean looking build. Interior is sure original. You always seem to through in a little gotcha on your builds.
