  1. You paint job looks great. The Citrus Yellow name that turns out Green is always confusing. This is a great kit and you well enjoy it. Bought a '72 Nova SS new, 4-speed in Fire Orange with black buckets. Had it for 5 years and sold it for what I paid for it. Still wish I had that car.
  2. #1 I think your builds look great. #2 Taking a mid day lunch break is always a good idea. #3 If you have a seller's table you are stuck if you don't have someone with you. My be if you promise your wife you will do something for her that she really wants, and you can't stand, She'll cover the table for you so you can step out for a while.
  3. I understand. What made me really laugh was that I knew that you just couldn't remember the correct term, and you sounded just like the way my wife describes things. I also have lived on or around water most of my life. I'm not 100% sure if Rudder is the technical name, but it is what I have always known it to be. The dictionary describes a Rudder as a steering device attached vertically to the rear of a boat. Most are attached horizontally, unless you have an outboard engine or a Jet boat setup.

  15. Very elaborate exterior finish. Was this paint or decals ?? I like the carbon fiber finishes also.
  16. Can't say for sure as to AMT's engine choice at the time but in the early '50's many Cadillac, Oldsmobile and even some Hemis found there way under the hood of Fords and others that didn't have a very big engine. They did make some great sleepers. At the time this kit was issued this engine was about as good of a Cadillac engine as could be found at that time. The original kit offered a 3x2 manifold or a super charger. The chrome tree had chrome Cadillac named valve covers and the blower and cover for the belt drive were also chromed. To my knowledge this has always been the engine option and the parts should be easy to find. Another thought if you stay with the flathead engine. AMT also had a '49 Mercury tudor sedan with a stock height roof. This also has been reissued a number of times. The kit had a stock engine, a flathead with chromed aluminum heads and a 3x2 manifold. The optional engine was a Chrysler big block (413-426) with a cross ram intake. All of these parts are easy to find. Of course as they say in the 1:1 world, "you can make anything fit into anything with a big enough hammer"

  18. Great looking build. I'm trying to understand the exhaust system. I'm sure there is a valid reason for the multiple outlets. One to bypass the mufflers, but the one facing toward the front of the chassis ??
  19. My be they can diagnose the problem with my muffler bearings. I've had them repacked twice and they still are making noise.
  20. You might consider using the "Cadillac" engine that would have been in that kit. Or list what you need to finish the engine here on the forum. I'm sure there are many here that would have the parts you need. If you should consider the resin kits Todd Buckles mentioned, I bought the sedan kit from Steve at the Kansas City Swap meet a couple of years ago. The one I got actually looks better than the photo. The body is very smooth and well cast. The same for the other parts also. The proportions look correct to my eyes . I'll be building a copy of the '51 Ford I had years ago.
  21. Many builders here have had periods of time where building was at the bottom of the list of things to do. Take some time off and enjoy the other things in life that matter to you. When you're ready to do this again you might even think about building something different than your beloved Cobras. Maybe a car you used to own or always thought you would like to own. Maybe a copy of a friends car that you always admired. Now in retirement I always have something I'm working on and it is a very enjoyable pastime.

  24. I would love to have another one of these. I'm finishing the Revell Hemi-Hydro right now and I would enjoy building one of these behind an old Woody Wagon of some sort.
  25. Many years ago I bought a '57 Ford Fairlane 500 convert. from the original owners. It was about 6 years old at the time. It needed a little body work as the wife used to use the braille method to get in and out of the garage. I redid the body and repainted it the original white with a new white top. Chrome rims and 30 in. glass packs. I sold it a couple of years later to a guy I knew. Within two weeks he rolled it. Unfortunately he was not injured. I also had a '74 Chevrolet short step side pick up that was in Truck'n Magazine in '75. When I sold it the couple started to use it to haul their horse trailer, so you know how that ended. Some people just don't appreciate really nice cars.
