I have to agree with the others, this build deserves more exposure. The paint, in addition to the color, is super smooth and you did a great job of tucking the rear bumper into the body. The rear wheels and tire fit in the wheel well like it should. You even got the AAR style exhaust going on. So don't be so bashful let us see some more.

SMP '58 Impala ala Larry Watson! Interior Done, Final Assembly!

I really like the color choice. In addition to the side pitch fork removal the way you changed the molding along the top of the fenders ending and not extending to the long body side moldings cleans up the look very well. -

Let me guess, that was his Buy It Now Price. You can ask what ever you want for something, but is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. With the condition of the box aside and the missing tires ? what is something like this really worth ? If your going to build it why not spend $20 to $30 and get a brand new reissue ? If your a collector because of the condition of the box and missing parts it couldn't be worth much more than that either. -

Just because he could doesn't mean he should. That was not one of Dodges best designs, but there is no question that it looked better before than after. -
Oh !! That explains the body question. I haven't followed Die Cast very much so I just didn't know about that body. It looks like something to consider in the future though.

Great painting. As others have pointed out the chrome looks perfect. More importantly you got the body and grill all done in the proper proportion to each other and that's hard to do. That is when two fools meet.

I haven't had any luck using it as such but many others swear by it , so get the old spoons out and give it a try. That reminds me of when Saturnight Live was really funny. Help Help Mister Bill. -

This looks like a modern day version of the old FC Jeep truck. I know that Jeep has been playing around with different ideas to bring out a Wrangler based pick up. It now looks like they are going with a more conventional Wrangler front end with a pick up box, but at one time they were considering another FC type body. -
Great close up of the trailer and bike. I just saw your pick up. They look great together.

Nice rusty build.. I like the trailer and bike idea.

I like how this turned out. My question is this an AMT body with the Revell Bad Man decals, or a Revell '55 Chevy tudoor that I was unaware of ?

This build is just as cool as it can be.

Really like this build. You're correct on the engine color, it was a red color with the black valve covers and a flat silver air cleaner. I had the pleasure of owning two different '57 Ford. You brother is going to love this.

Beautiful setup. I saw a for sale sign in the picture, how much did they want ??

Great looking squad. I see you cut the side windows for a down window look. I used this kit several years ago to duplicate our personal Charger RT. Cutting those windows helped to extended my vocabulary.

Great find on the differential. I was wondering if your going to tub the rear end or have the slicks extending past the body sides? The diff. looks to have two mounting pads from the picture. The diff. also looks to be upside down. In the donor pick-up the diff. would have been mounted under the leaf springs and you're mounting it on top, which is fine but the pinion angle looks wrong. Just a thought, not trying to tell you how to do this. What if you moved the leaf spring hanger/mount inboard of the chassis. This would get the springs out of the way and the mount pads on the diff. will be very close to lining up with the pads. The diff. could be narrowed as needed to keep the slicks mostly inside the body line. The small area on the inside of the wheel tub could be moved inboard as needed. The Ansen wheels look perfect and are very deep, another reason to think about the rear end changes.

Great looking build. Now that you have found a reasonable cost shipping supplier you might consider trying canned spray paint as an option for painting the bodies. I like the engine and the grill details. -

What a great looking car. The best part is the back story with it. -

Take a look at the Shows section near the bottom of the web sites main page. The various shows around the country are very good about letting everyone know when their show is coming. -

I agree that it's nice that he acknowledges model building from time to time, but I think builders are the only ones that understand what he's talking about. While Steve doesn't seem guilty of it so many of the other Talking Heads seem to often show how little they really know about the car on the block. I really hate when they start droning on about something that has nothing to do with the car your looking at and usually pertain to only themselves and their own self glorification. The B-J crew do not seem as bad as some of the Talking Heads on the Mecum Auction on TV. -
I have to agree the Fords of this time period lend themselves to a fastback roof. I'm partial to the Fairlane fastbacks. If you should go with the spoiler sometimes less is more. A very small lip type spoiler I think would complement the design the best. Sometimes its the least obvious styling feature that has the greatest overall impact on the whole appearance.

So far I haven't had any problems with installing the wheels after I've painted the tires. I should of mentioned that I test fit everything in advance, I kind of thought you already did that anyway. Another thought on the tires. Depending on how the tire surface feels and looks, sometimes I'll let them sit in the Purple Power overnight. I have found that sometimes the tires have like a film on them, not sure why and it isn't on every set. I'm now starting to go to the Round 2's AMT tire packs. They offer both wide white and narrow whites.

Great build. A very tired looking old work truck. Your extra effort with the grill and bed chains make it look very realistic. Your outdoors pictures ad to the effect. -
Great looking build. Usually you will see the blue car, almost forgot about the black one.
