Great looking build, so many little details. The rack for the Surf Boards looks great. Are the exhaust tubes plastic also ??

    40 ford custom

I really like the painting technique, and the added suspension, brackets, and exhaust.

    1928 Lincoln

Beautiful build. All of the colors flow together perfectly. That has to be half again as big as a normal kit.
  5. Beautiful build. Nice clean trim details.
  6. I like the NASCAR engine idea instead of the Hemi. The grill mesh looks just right.
  7. Super nice looking build. Is it ready for Under Glass Section or can we see some of the building stages?
  8. This is going to be interesting. I built the reissue of this kit last year. I like the head lights and the aluminum paper clip bumper bolts what an idea. I don't know about your intentions for the windshield but I have an idea of where that may of came from. I may be wrong but it looks to me to be the rear window from the optional chopped top on the old '50 Ford Victoria.
  9. The March issue of Hemmings Classic Car magazine has a short history of how Revell got into the model business after WW II. They have some pictures of several of the very early kits and a poster for the Highway Pioneers showing all of the different kits in that series. Does anyone else remember the Metalflake show car series ?? Nice box art for the '51 Henry J Drag Coupe and Ed Roth's Outlaw roadster. Very informative read.
  10. You could see what looked like stress cracks starting to appear in the clear cover. I expected the "cylinder head" to come apart. Liked the slow motion the best.
  11. Have you checked in the After Market Directory? There are several casters that specialize in MoPar parts.
  12. Looks like a nice clean build so far. I have been looking at that color for a future build of some sort.
  13. Dave Darby mentioned the Victoria roof and some additional custom parts from the first issues. Earlier today I stopped at Hobby Haven and looked at the kit box and the options within. A shame about the Victoria hardtop. I built one years ago with the copped top. As I recall they at one time even had a stock height top also. I can't remember where but I think someone is casting, or was, both of these tops and also the Carson Top. But we're forgetting that this is about the '49 coupe. This is a great kit with endless possibilities. The last one I built was as a Gasser adding Fuel Injection Stacks to the kits engine and radius the rear wheel wells. I'm interested in what John is going to do with this build.
  14. Really like how this turned out. I may have to just try a weathered build next.
  15. So very realistic looking. I'm impressed by the Boiler power plant. The four door conversion and the weathering looks perfect. Just when you think life is hard you can look at this and be thankful for not being there at that time.
  16. Great looking build. I like how you removed the chrome moldings and then made mounting holes in the body. This and the decals really adds to the appearance.
  17. Beautiful looking build. I'm very impressed with the body work you had to do. Black shows any imperfections but it also adds so much to the overall appearance of the build.
  18. Great looking chassis and the "wood" looks perfect. Was this a decal or hand painted ?
  19. Outstanding fabrication on this build. Question , you show pictures of your build sitting on carpet. My experience is that with the static electricity that my builds seem to get I have to be careful of even wearing some types of clothing. How are you able to get a lint free paint job??
  20. This is a great learning experience to understand how these words translate. Some one mentioned Apron for a fender or wing. My wife often wears an Apron when she prepares dinner to protect her clothing. Someone else mentioned Suspenders or Braces. When was growing up I had to have Braces on my teeth to straighten then. The whole accident thing is just another way of not taking responsibility for ones actions. If your behind the wheel its on you if it goes bad. The talking heads on the News say "the car went out of control and crashed". No it didn't, the driver was not paying attention or did something stupid and it's not an accident but "Pilot Error". I like the terms used by others as sometimes they are a better description of the object than US English.
  21. Another note on the '50 Ford convertible. I believe that every reissue has the option of two front windshields. The stock and a chopped also. The advantage of the chopped pieces is that it opens so many other options beyond the '50. They used to have a full Carson top plus the half top. Does anyone out there have the latest reissue to know if both tops are still included ? As an aside I'm sure most of you have dealt with the pad print tires. I'm a bit Ham Fisted and can screw things up , so you might want to give the tires a light spry of clear just to protect the printing. I took half the lettering of a Good Year lettered tire with out even trying. The inner diameter of these tires are different from some of the current models on the market and that will need to be addressed.
  22. You do like a challenge. The door openings and inner jams look great.
  23. You might try something that can easily be cut or molded in such a way as to form a templet. With a templet you can then use a piece of spruce to practice the shape for the mounting to the bumper. I wouldn't worry about the front or face of the part at this time, you're just trying to see if you can replicate the mounting surface to the bumper. Once you have that done you will then have a templet to use to mark and cut the bumper guards. You're correct that the bumpers face is shaped differently on the '55 compared to the '57. What I think is the good news is that the only material you'll have to remove from the guards is for the upper half where the '57's top portion of the bumper sticks out and the '55's bumper goes toward the body. Removing part of the guard is easier than adding material. Try making a templet even if it's just using a small piece of paper or what I use is the inner tube from a roll of TP. I know it sounds funny but the card board centers are just strong enough to hold a shape and very easy to cut will a good #11 blade. Good luck on your project.
  24. I just checked all of the '57's I have and couldn't come up with anything, although I found an AMT '55 Street Machine issue that may work. I'm sure the bumpers are shaped differently at the mounting point on the bumper but I think with a little work they could be altered to fit. The kit is listed as #31931 and it has a red '55 Chevy on the box with a checkered area on the upper rear quarters. They may not be 100% what your looking for but I don't know of any other bumper guards out there.
  25. Beautiful build, great job on the moldings. I like how you did the wheels.
