  1. Great looking show. I really like the Red/White Nomad. any more pictures to share on the show and the models ??
  2. If you're unable to find the decals you are after you might check out JoAnns Fabrics. They sell a lot of lace that is used for the edge of dresses and such. I got some 2mm wide rolls that worked well. Since they are for an edge on clothing they have very tight patterns.
  3. The Water Markings are used to prevent others from representing the photo as something of their own. Since you're not inclined to do such a thing it is hard to understand that there are others that would.

Very nice build. Chrysler products are the only ones that just look right in Purple. A question on the tires. Were they from this kit?? They look like the treaded Good Year Racing tires from the early 70's. I would like to use some for a future build.
  5. Beautiful engine. Mickey Thompson would be the person to do this in 1:1. I remember when he cut one of the 4 Cylinder engines in half for a 2 cylinder and latter even tried a single cylinder. You never wanted to tell Mickey he couldn't do something. The guy would just go out and prove you wrong. You really should build something appropriate for this engine.
  6. You are correct about this models many short falls and proportions of the body. All that said I don't remember seeing one of these that looked this well done. Put on the shelf with pride.
  7. Great looking color. I love the roof conversion you did.
  8. Always nice to build a model of your own car. A thought on your paint choice since it sounds like you're not 100% on what you have now. I have used some Testors Lacquer paint in just such a project in the past. Their #1836M DeJa Blue is a dark metallic blue used for Danube Blue on a '66 Impala SS, #1843M Star Spangled Blue is lighter but not as light as Marina Blue. They are easy one coat paints if these color are more to what your looking for.
  9. Beautiful paint finish. Black always looks best in the first few seconds after you polish it weather it's 1:24th or 1:1. I have done both, but I still love Black the best.
  10. Just an idea on the exhaust. 1. Step up one size on the drill bit to enlarge the inside diameter. 2. Sometimes it gets difficult to keep the drill bit centered or if it is already off center, try using a fresh #11 blade. Insert the tip in the opening and slowly turn to remove material within the opening. This way you can open up the opening on the thicker side without changing it on the thinner side. The interior panels look great.
  11. Thank you for the link. So many cars that we don't get to see here. I really liked the Boat, was that a Reva ?? I remember looking at the Reva Boats at Lake Tahoe Cal. dealership.
  12. It may be hard for a modeling company to make the business decision to model a four door post or even a hardtop if it would not make profit. Thru history these companies have offered the two door hardtops and convertibles since they were the "glamor" models that everyone wanted but by in large couldn't afford in real life. Revell really stuck it's neck out to offer the '57 Bel Air and 150 two door sedans. These sold well and thankfully they saw enough positive cash flow to justify the '57 Ford two door sedan and then the wagon. I personally was very pleased with the '57 two door since I had owned one as a young man. This is the point on the four doors, we either rode in one with our parents or we had one in our youth. It is hard to say if Revell or any other company could see a profit if they went to the great expense of creating one. I know that many Commercial or Law Enforcement builders would rejoice if they did, but could they turn a profit?? We remember the Dodge Charger, which was a great kit and had many possibilities and yet try and find one on the shelf. I had to order one just to make a model of our 1:1 2010 R/T. Our best hope would be that Moebius would step forward with such a model if only because they seem to like to do something off beat and unusual and do a great job of it. Revell has seen success with the Ford and Chevrolet models so maybe they will give it a shot. Just for myself I think that a wagons would stand a better chance at this time. Maybe if we politely offered suggestions to some of the model companies with the possibilities of what could be made from your suggestion then they would be better able to see if it made business sense for them. Remember they need to make a profit or it just wouldn't make sense to do it.
  13. Thank you for the info. This is what I also thought. But like you said this is model building and we have a little more leeway as to how we present something. The main reason for the question was a Hemi Hydro build with the kits single axle trailer. I think I'll pass on a two axle conversion because I'm basically lazy.
  14. I hope you're wrong. I just ordered their conversion kit for the Hemi Hydro boat kit. I got a notice that it was shipped Thursday. He has already been paid so I'll be keeping a close eye on this.
  15. Did anyone else recognize the driver of the black Pontiac in the 7 Ups?? That Pontiac had to be a let down after trying to outrun Bullit with a black Charger. I don't know if anyone else has run over rail road tracks intentionally or not, but it's very hard on the suspension. Makes you wonder how much they spent replacing everything under the cars in that chase.
  16. Very creative paint job. I like the European style fog lights.
  17. That is a beautiful build. The detailing under the hood really makes the engine stand out. What material did you use for the fuel line ? The hood flapper, was that molded open or was that something you did ? The stance is what I like the best.
  18. All of the older, and all great, chases have been mentioned. But what about recent ones. There are very few but the Bourne movies and James Bond/Daniel Crag come to mind. A Russian taxi and a Mercedes SUV.
  19. I have built several of these kits and have not had a fitment problem. The front splash pan should fit cleanly between the front fenders. This part will support the bottom edge of the grill and will cover a portion of the radiator just like the 1:1. If mounted correctly the frame then mounts under the splash pan. While basic in many areas this is really a great kit.
  20. I did a model of my '86 Monte Carlo SS that was white. The Revell kit was issued in black plastic. I masked the grill, head light area and the back bumper area that is black. Primed the rest in gray and then final coat of white and clear. I used all Tamiya products, Zero bleed thru and I didn't have to paint the black trim this way.
  21. I'm with you on wet sanding, any color really. I have used this to get rid of orange peal. I have had good luck using Tamiya Compound starting with Fine and then Finish. If you haven't tried them this might be a thought for the future. Your color and foil looks great in the picture.
  22. Great job on creating the vinyl roofs. I remember someone else here asking the same question about bleed thru on color plastic. One of the suggestions was to use silver paint and then primer the body and prosed from there.
  23. That's a great looking casting. There is something about a wagon that has been fixed up that is very interesting. It looks like your putting a cover over the area behind the back seat. That's an excellent way to cover that area if the kit didn't include an interior. This also was a "style" years ago. Usually a hardtop body style with a cover over the area from the rear window up to the back of the front seat much like a convertible top down cover. This will add a great deal to the interior of a street type custom.
  24. I'll enjoy watching this one. I have threatened to buy one of these in the past but something else always comes up. The bottom edge of the casting looks a little thick and some small bubbles. This seems to be common on most castings I have used, but with a little sanding it would be good. You mentioned the chassis fit and this may help with that. This looks like a very well done body. How is the detail on the "wood" ??
  25. Thank you for the link. There just is to little coverage of this sport here. The drivers are among the very best in any form of racing. Their ability to control these cars in the most adverse road conditions with no guard rails, only trees and ditches to catch you if you go off course. And I love the spectators that build hot tubs in the snow and drink and eat brats, it just can't get any better than that.
