  1. Looks like some of those so called 'Influencers' need a copy of the Oxford English Dictionary.
  2. Ignorance is Bliss! What complete idiot invented that saying?
  3. Those mesh headlamp protectors look really good. Looks like you fitted real wire mesh and got a most realistic look about them. Saw in one of your previous posts that you are putting off fitting the wire wheel spokes. I have done a few in the past. More tedious than difficult once you get going.
  4. This MG TC is coming along very well Louis. Looking at the other car models you have worked on, like me you have a liking for the older classics. Ulf, if you are looking for an MG TD kit there is a white metal one in 1/24th scale by Auto Kits. Have a look at Squires of Bognor Regis in the UK who might be able to help you.
  5. Harald. Yes, I had a look more closely and could see where the hinges are to allow a front panel and a worktop to swing out of the way for access to the vehicle from the side. The sink and scooter girl look good to compliment what you are doing to the VW.
  6. Those shock absorbers look much more to scale now Francois. It must have taken you a number of prototypes to get them looking just right. You mentioned that you would need a laser to make individual parts for those shock absorbed parts in metal. When I worked as a school technician just before retirement the kids did a lot of work on it, but it was only powerful enough for working plywood and acrylics. I would imagine that a laser powerful enough to cut even thin metal sheet would be very expensive to justify for domestic use. But having the ability to etch patterns on the surface as well as cutting through the metal could replace parts that might otherwise have to be photo etched, but I have yet to see it done on model parts.
  7. What's sad about upgrading inexpensive diecasts Gramps46? I've rescued a few knocked about ones over the years.
  8. Steve's Cobra picture a few posts back.....A copy is definitely going onto my workshop wall!
  9. Thanks for coming back that Pageant Blue was not a standard TR7 colour. I had a Dolomite in that colour. Same sort of era so presumed erroneously that TR7's were available in Pageant Blue. It is quite a striking blue for a plain colour. My old Dolomite looked good in it.
  10. They're looking better Francois. I made some up the hard way for my scratch built Hispano Suiza a few years back. Not too difficult. I prepared a number of blanks with two holes equi spaced on all to screw together. I rough cut each to shape slightly oversized and screwed them all together. I could then put them in a vice to finally shape with a file. Once taken out and the screws removed each plate edge just needed a slight clean up. I then had a number of identical pieces by making them together. The circular pieces that went on between were made in a similar fashion but screwed together with one screw and a nut. The screw was long enough so that the protruding end could be mounted in a chuck and the outside diameter turned to size on a small lathe.
  11. A little boy opens up his Action Man figure box on Christmas Day. Disappointedly the the boy says 'Dad! Dad! My Action Man box is empty!' Dad looked down kindly to the boy and said 'Ah, but that's because its an Action Man Deserter Son!'
  12. I would guess that the only way to get each of the separate arms on the shocks more to scale thickness would be to fabricate them from thin sheet metal brass or plastic card instead of 3D printed. You are probably pushing the 3D print to the limit of what it can reproduce of this item. But having said that the 3D printed item looks far better than the kit offering.
  13. Interesting project. That's a lot of sacrificial plastic to get one unique model though!
  14. Vick's Sinex. UK equivalent to nasal sprays already mentioned.
  15. 590 what irked you to 273 what pleased you today. Guess more of us are getting like my two favourite characters Waldorf and Statler the two old hecklers from the Muppet Show by the day!
  16. BL Tahiti Blue. A nice colour for your TR7, and now that I have looked at the pictures of your car again on a bigger PC screen I can see that it is a bit darker than the BL Pageant Blue of my old Dolomite. Will have to look and see if Pageant Blue was ever used on the TR7 out of interest. I quite like the wedge shape of this car and the convertible versions quite suit the body styling too. You have made a nice job of your model from the Monogram kit. I have a feeling that Revell also did a TR7 in 1/25th scale as Purdey's car from the Avengers TV series.
  17. This is really coming together well Andrew.
  18. Interesting project. A great conversion taking place here. Real VW Beetle Vans must be as rare as hens teeth. I think a company named C1 Models over here in the UK does a VW Beetle Van resin transkit. Without checking, as far as I can remember it might be more custom than based on an original though.
  19. Fascinating progress. The working steering and throttle linkage videos were most impressive to watcn.
  20. Local accents and colloquial words can be very confusing to others when used elsewhere. Also, I did a Bill a short while ago but with a razor saw. Not a deep cut fortunately but due to my own stupidity holding an item in my hand whilst cutting it. Usual story. Too much of a hurry and laziness on my part to get my mini vice out. I would guess that most accidents happen due to trying to take short cuts if you will excuse the pun!
  21. The wood grain on the T3 kitchen units is a bit over done and the detailing could be better Harald. I see that you are getting a replacement sink from Etsy. Some doll house suppliers do things in 1/24th scale. Another source of scale furniture and fittings are suppliers to the architectural model market if you are looking for other things to use on the diorama.
  22. Thanks for coming back on this subject Harald. I have the AK book with Doozy's VW Cafe in it and will have to take another look at it. You are right that projects like this one should be more about having fun and having a go at something different without the rivet counting! Looking forward to seeing more of your build as it progresses. I have the Revell T3 Westfalia camper van and am looking to do something similar with that one to the Doozy diorama. It already has kitchen units in the kit so that side of things will be made easier. The T3 does not quite have the character of the original VW Minibus but has similar diorama potential.
  23. Intrigued by the nice scratch built wooden units to fit out the interior. A bit puzzled about one of the units as it appears to block the main side access to the vehicle as you have fitted shelving to the side door interiors? I guess that maybe it is in a mock up stage whilst deciding what units to fit and where? That Windy Books Cafe VW you referred to as an inspiration is a superb model. The full build is explained in one of the AK Extreme Weathering books and takes you through every step of the buiild.
  24. Saw a pair of these built up at IPMS Scale Modelworld in November. Quite impressive little models. Lewis Hamilton started racing on karts. It will be interesting to see if any of his get kitted. I guess that many F1 drivers started out their racing careers by kart raciing.
