Yea, there are snakes here too...... That was one concern that I had, but these little birds are fiesty! I've seen momma birds chase off crows, vultures, snakes, anything in their territory....... I'm sure they looked out for their young just fine.

What better way to learn about the Bimmers than to build one? This is the Fujimi Enthusiast kit....... Looks like a super nice kit, if a bit overwhelming! It being my first EM kit, I hope I can do it justice........

My continually updated CUSTOMS thread

This should be a cool thread.......... -
This is all really good info, guys! One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the RT/10 (roadster) and the GTS (coupe) had different wheels....... The wheels in Jim's post are for the roadster. Though I'm sure that AMT used the same tires in both Viper kits........ I've been able to source a set of racing wheels for this, they should be here in a day or two.... Thanks for the interest in my build, fellas!

A bit more progress! Looks like the frame/chassis is pretty much done.... I got ahead of myself on the instructions and forgot the lower radiator hose. Gonna have to figure out how to install that later....... One thing about this kit, you HAVE to follow the instructions...... Now I guess it's on to body prep and paint! Thanks, and comment freely.........

The album titled "You'd Prefer An Astronaut" from the band Hum is another one that probably helped shape me as a person..... It's a concept album about him and his girl's 'stellar' relationship. This song is one of the better ones (though they are all great songs!). It's called "I hate it too"....... -
Nope...... I just left it alone. I saw it hopping around here most of that morning, I'm sure it's doing fine!

This little guy pleased me this morning....... We have a prickly Holly tree at the end of the building here. The Mocking Birds put a nest there a couple years ago. Pretty brilliant place to put the nest, as nothing wants to climb through holly leaves to get to them. Anyway, they're out fledgling about this morning!

Is that an image from the Perseverance Rover? How cool is THAT?!
-
Thank you, Anton........ I have test fitted the body on what I have done so far, it seems to not be much of a problem..... We'll see once the interior goes together.
-
Here's some more progress on the chassis..... The suspension bits are pretty tricky! I guess that's the way with a reasonably accurate kit. There's a couple hoses to add, and the interior, then I can begin working on the body parts..... I did lose an exhaust collector, gonna have to figure out how to add that back in....... Thanks for looking, and feel free to comment!

That's a really nice job with a kit that kinda lacks in a lot of areas....... I especially like the interior.
-
That looks really good! Good luck at the show........

"Linus and Lucy" by Vince Guaraldi........ in fact all the Charlie Brown music was good!

Iggy Pop IS a legend! He's done a lot of stuff..... He did the voice-over lead in on the track "Black Sunshine" by White Zombie. -
I remember that build! You put a lot of work into it......
-
Thank you, Carl... It has just enough of a sheen not to be completely flat. Plus it can stand up to being handled......
-
You did a lot of the prep work, though, didn't you? That is really what makes a good paint job, is the prep work.....
-
It's been too windy to paint anything that needs to be 'pretty', so I sprayed the primer that will be the interior color on it's parts. It's just Rustoleum 2X primer. There is still some parts and detail painting to do, but you get the idea....... I can't install the interior until pretty much last thing on the chassis, so it's just mocked up here....... That's it for now! Please feel free to comment....

Bill, your illustrations reminded me of this song.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gm2KYEyK42g "Too damm bad that at the end of the line, you got no idea what's on your own mind........." Henry Rollins!
-
Cool! Reference pics.... Thanks, Jim! That looks really good..... In some ways this kit is better than the Revell.
-
The next few steps for the chassis are done..... Next up is the front suspension and then installing the engine. The front radiator support isn't glued in place, it's just sandwiched between the front frame rails. This will allow me to adjust it's location when I add the wheel houses/inner fenders..........

70s cars as they really were!
JollySipper replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was a car crazy youth in the mid 1980s (I was still a kid)... The style then was nose-up, tail-down, with usually Centerline polished deep dish wheels. It was usually something like a Monte Carlo or Regal. Nothing muscle, more "cruisers". That's the style I remember the most fondest, and would drive something sat up like that today..... That fad stuck around until the mid '90s, at least. -
