Hey, Guys.... I got this kit as a gift, and in usual modeler fashion I had to open it and get started. It's a really good kit, it is molded in red, though.... I think there was a version molded in silver, too. So far, I've taken care of the oil pan's seam and started on the seats, filling the seams with one-part Bondo filler smeared on with my finger.... I'm pretty much going box stock. The only qualm I have with the kit is the glass is all one piece. Wish me luck, and please feel free to follow and/or comment!

Yellow (UGH!) plastic cover-up.
JollySipper replied to Hi-Po's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Where could one get that? and would you recommend it if you were going to paint the model with a different red? I have one molded in red that I would like to paint a deeper darker shade.... -
Electronic Heads Up Display
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you could train yourself to see it from the corner of your vision, it may could be useful on a track day car.... I don't think it's a good idea in an everyday car, tho.... -

Here's a link to the car's ad if you want to check it out.... https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/d/thousand-oaks-porsche-928-ls3-pro-tour/7044231298.html -
This is the first one of these that I've seen. I think it's pretty neat... I'm sure it doubles as a mirror when not in use. What do you guys think? This particular one is in a Porsche with a Vette drivetrain that I found while browsing Craigslist.....

Thanks a bunch, fellas.... I started others, but they were failures for one reason or another and ended up as parts kits.... my ship is almost done, should have it finished by the New Year......
-
I only completed two auto builds this year.... The Karmann Ghia was built for a friend who had one 'back-in-the-day', and is the Gunze Sangyo kit. and then there's the Starliner...

They have a better song called "Thrill Seeker"....
-
Bill, you like jazz... I'm gonna turn you on to a band called Throttle Elevator Music....
-
I'm drawn to a wide array of music..... I first was introduced to The Cardigans by the video to "My Favorite Game". Good song, cool video.... Here's them doing "Carnival"

Their music style got more "progressive" as they matured as a band.... if you listen to a song, maybe "Sweat"... then listen to "Right in Two" off of 10,000 Days, they're worlds apart. How about Les Claypool? Any fans? I know my friend JC listens to him, how about everyone else? The guy's got more projects going on than anyone that I know of... He's just released some stuff with Sean Lennon under the band name The Claypool Lennon Delirium....... Pretty trippy, heady stuff!

Dark green metallic paint
JollySipper replied to R.D.F.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
DupliColor makes a black sandable primer that would work with your Fathom Green paint..... it would even darken the color some, giving it a richer look...... -
It's cool that you gave them a listen, man...... I'll admit that they're not for everybody. I've owned all of their studio stuff at one point, but never bought any of their merchandise. Just couldn't see myself going around with "tool" printed across my chest......
-
Thanks, Joe! That particular song sounds like something you'd hear at a coffee house...... a cool one with real Beatniks, artists and such....
-
JC, I've been introduced to a bunch of music thanks to your thread... if I knew how to post a video, there's a lot of music I would post, as I'm always finding new music on Napster (LOVE that site!). For instance, I just recently started listening to a band called Can.... they have one song in particular called Vitamin C that's pretty catchy. Totally agree!

I like the music from the band TOOL... something I've noticed about it, tho, is that it doesn't get stuck in your head like other music. I think that it's because it's not based on easy hooks and standard time signatures like most music is. Their best album by far is Lateralus. It's a more "hopeful" album than their other albums.... I don't think there are any bands out there now that will have any staying power in the future. Groups like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are timeless classics.... but what bands now will be as influential as they were in about 30-40 years?

What other stuff do you paint?
JollySipper replied to LL3 Model Worx's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I did that for a few years.... was pretty good at it and enjoyed the work. Coolest part about painting houses, the job site changes once you're done, and you're never in one place too long........ -

There's been a few scale builders that I've seen work from online that I wished were members here, just to chat about their beautiful work if for no other reason.... -
will they ever make these dodge trucks
JollySipper replied to gray07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This guy was 3D printing one in pieces, then building from that... I'm not sure what happened to the project, tho....
