Hey, Guys..... I've been wondering something. The old lead sled kustom cars of the '50s and '60s, they were often lowered from the factory ride height. How was this most commonly done? Did they have a sort of 'air ride' suspension back then? What about hydraulics? I know that hydraulics were used by the lowrider community, but that didn't really start until the late '60s (right?) Just curious as to if all the customs that were built back then had static suspensions...... Thanks!

I've just today found a new band to listen to...... They are called Three Mile Pilot. They are listed as "new prog" on Napster. I haven't listened to enough of them to turn you guys on to any particular tune, just thought I would mention them........

I'm very much into this build....... What color were you thinking of painting it once all this awesome scratch building is done?

I think it's cool you're trying to replicate the texture...... first person that I've seen do so.....

Rustoleum makes a textured spray paint that would work really well for this..... I haven't used it myself, but I've seen builds with it used and it looks pretty much like that.

These were 1/48 scale, I believe from a P-51.....

Say, if someone wanted to build this car and it be correct, what kit(s) would you need? I used to have the MPC kit, I remember it being a bear, tho....... If you were to use just the body from the kit, what chassis would you need? Drivetrain? If I had a real 1:1 I would probably use something like a 914-6 engine and transaxle.......

We're about the same age...... it good to show all the older guys that the hobby interests young folks, too....

This is all really good input, guys.... The reason I asked is I'm thinking about starting to do this, build a little less 'permanent' for ease of rebuilding later. My better efforts will most likely all stay together tho.....

I've seen a large diecast on eBay.... the ad said it was about 10.5" long. I was just a kid when this was on TV, this show probably made a car guy out of me!

While looking at glue bombs and such on the forums, and the work put into them, made me wonder about something. How many of you guys build your models with ease of disassembly in mind? Parts that stay together, like engine halves, should be glued well. What about interior to body and chassis? Just something I've been wondering lately......

Yep, I'll be 40 this year.... (don't remind me ) I also like Blondie, Deborah Harry's voice is very much a pleasure to hear.... That's the main reason I like The Cardigans music, Nina Persson's voice.... Plus Blondie was almost Punk music, even played at the CBGB club....

That's a pretty cool list! I guess to make mine ten, I'd add the top 5 albums that Primus put out. Caught a Lot of flack for listening to them, but I thought it fit who I was.....

What are you guys' top five albums of your youth? The ones that influenced you the most? Mine are as follows: Fashion Nugget by Cake... You'd Prefer an Astronaut by Hum... American Thighs by Veruca Salt... II (two) by Meat Puppets Nevermind by Nirvana... These albums shaped my taste in music as well as me as a person!

Could you clear over the Alclad aluminum with their suggested clear? Then you could maybe mask over it without pulling it up...... I would probably mask with foil.

Wow..... I was writing in script and reading analog clocks by the 2nd grade. I'm 39 now to put perspective on it....

LOTS of guys out there putting larger wheels on old cars......... If you do use the Viper drive train, it would be some sort of Pro Touring beast! I think It'll be cool.....
