As I understand it, Revell used the same chassis under its '68 & '69 Chargers, but changed to something different (front wheels are no longer poseable) for the '70 kit. I'm thrilled that someone finally got around to tooling up a modern '70 Charger kit, but I prefer poseable front wheels when possible. Has anyone tried using the '68 or '69 chassis or just their front suspension pieces under the '70 to achieve this?

Gotta agree with the others, nice build with killer paint. My thanks also for providing the names of materials you used, especially the MCW texture paint for the vinyl roof. Never even knew that stuff existed.
-
Nice job! Can't go wrong with red and black on any Motion car. Question: did you sub out the kit headlights for something better? For some reason they look like an upgrade over what AMT would normally supply.

This is the best place
Monty replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This place is also full of experienced builders who are more than happy to share their expertise with anyone who might need it, while other members provide a great service by exposing us to model-related businesses and products we might not have discovered on our own. Kudos also to the folks involved in running the board. Seems like most of the grifters and trouble makers have gone elsewhere, which makes it that much better for the rest of us. -
AMT '67 Mustang Fastback-Now in Under Glass Section
Monty replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I sincerely doubt I would have thought of all the procedures involved in that dash surgery you did (doubt I could have done it as well either) but the result was remarkable. This is a great example of what a "black" interior should look like. You really nailed the vinyl look on the seats, and the flat shade of black carpet sets them off perfectly. -
Gotta love it when someone offers up a post that combines high levels of build quality and detailing, exceptional paint work and top notch photography. Congrats also for matching the factory paint. Wish someone (looking at you, Tamiya) would offer that color.
-
IIRC, the Tamiya holder is fairly well designed but I've read a number of reviews stating that they come apart fairly easily, especially when in use. (apparently they're snap-fit) Can anyone comment on that?

I've got AdBlock, and for the most part it works very well. It seems YouTube is trying to monetize everything that's played on there since they constantly offer "subscriptions", but I'm not doing that.
-
Full disclosure: I know nothing about how YouTube works, as will quickly become obvious. Who sets the number of ads that play in a given video? If it's the maker of the video, do they get a cut of the ad money or does YouTube get it all? I'm curious because some of these pop up about every four minutes no matter what point you're at, while others are less frequent and seem to be timed to coincide with obvious stopping points like you might see on TV. And no I will not subscribe to avoid these stupid things.

Lookin' good so far. Really liking the body color. Would you mind telling us what it is? (ex: Testors #1614).

I'm doing a replica stock build of a car that's been well taken care of, but has some miles on it. I'll probably try the Tamiya powders for the chassis, but the exhaust is what I'm trying to nail down. Here's the real car's exhaust: If possible, post a pic of an exhaust system where you used the paints etc you're recommending.

Ugliest Corvette revisited

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did a bunch of things recommended by you guys as well as various "experts" on YouTube but nothing helped. I tried several methods for cleaning out the port, but never saw much dust/dirt/lint come out. In the meantime, none of the charging cables, including the new one, will fit snugly on the tab in the charging port, so I'm moving on. Fun fact - it's an LG phone and I just found out they're getting out of the cell phone business. Kinda sad 'cuz the phone was inexpensive and simple to use. Hope I can find something similar soon.

If I'm not mistaken, that's a Rolls Royce in the driveway. For the sake of all that's holy, somebody rescue that thing from this clown. -

Curious why you'd go there. Does a 'Vette have to have chrome bumpers to make it worth your while? I like all C3s but I happen to prefer the integrated front and rear treatments of the '80-'82 models, such as the one I had for 20 years. Lackluster performance? Thank the EPA et al for killing that off. OTOH, it's a small block Chevy, easiest engine on the planet to modify. I wish most cars could be kept out of the hands of the J.C. Whitney fans. -
I assumed it was the problem since it was taking longer to charge the phone. It didn't occur to me that the problem might be at the receptacle end.

I've got an Android phone that's about a year old. Nothing fancy, but it does everything I need it to do. I used to be able to fully charge it in under two hours, but a couple months ago it started getting less of a charge in that amount of time, and then it dropped off to where it would have to charge overnight. I bought a replacement charging cord, but over the last couple months it has been getting "looser" as far as actually plugging into the phone and staying attached. I live in a small farming town, so there aren't a whole lot of places to take this and have it repaired. Anything I can do myself to get it working again?

MPC dodge pick up
Monty replied to happy grumpy's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Even without that remarkable background, that truck really stands out. Love the color. Thanks for providing the Tamiya #s. Any chance we could talk you into some engine/interior/chassis shots? I don't build a whole lot of pickups but yours intrigues me. -
I agree. Would you mind telling me what exact paint (EX: Testors #1612) you used on the engine?
-
Great job on this! Did you modify the front suspension to make the front wheels poseable?

Which tires will work best for this car?
Monty replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Any tires you'd recommend that would fit? -
I'm starting to plan the build for my AMT '66 Nova, which I intend to do as a mild street machine. I'd like to use tires that are slightly wider (but not taller) than stock up front, and a wider tire in back that will work with the stock chassis and wheel wells since I won't be tubbing it. I intend to use Fireball generic resin tires along with his sidewall decals. Which combo of these tires would work best for this build?

Welcome to our forum! As others have said, the colors you chose for the body and interior make it look like the 1:1 item, and your detail work is dead-on. It appears you also added a vinyl roof, which is a nice touch. Please post up some more of your stuff when you get a chance.

AMT '67 Mustang Fastback-Now in Under Glass Section
Monty replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Great work on the engine and door panels! It's gonna be fun to watch your progress, and I have no doubt the final result will be spectacular. -
I save a number of pictures off the internet for future use (memes, reference material, etc) but I'm always puzzled when I do the "save-as" thing and the pic ends up in a different file than the rest of my saved material. The only clue I have is some are labeled as PNG images, while the others, which make it to the main file, are JPEGs. Why does it do this, and is there an easy way to get the PNGs into the main file? Keep it simple if possible, 'cuz I'm not computer literate at all.
