  1. You could probably do hidden supports under the tires, maybe wooden dowels painted black. And yes, any interior or chassis parts might give it some structure.
  2. I've gone down the rabbit hole of YouTube "restorations" lately so I've seen quite a bit of his videos.
  3. They make this aluminum sculpture mesh, it's very fine and soft to conform to surfaces. I might try copying a body with this stuff then trying to deform it. Once it's crumpled to your desired crumpliness you could cover it with something to replicate the sheet metal.
  4. How are the numbers determined? I notice some cars have numbers and a letter as well.
  5. What about "The Cars of YouTube"? The Independence Chevelle, the Million Mile Lexus, Blasphemi, or any other YouTube celebri-car. Did you find it in a barn, kick out the mice, replace the sparkalators and fuel makeithappener and top her off with fresh dinosaur juice in the parking lot of a Motel 6? Did you put a 12 valve, rotary, or 2jz in something it has no business being in? Or did you do the right thing and do a full rotisserie restoration of something actually worth driving? If you can find it on YouTube get it to the starting line, with your own spin of course.
  6. I got the 29 up on its wheels today. This is going to be a more traditional east coast TROG style build. It's a 29 on 32 rails with a 32 shell and 39 brakes and a standard banjo rear-end. The engine is going to be a hopped up flat head with a LaSalle transmission. The one concession I made to my build style is that I widened the rear wheels to fit the wider kit rear tires.
  7. Yep, and even Bigfoot's first crush was on 48s not 66s. Unfortunately there just isn't a lot documented about those early days and most events included more than a few barley pops to cloud memories.
  8. Ready at the starting line is my 1981 Mustang Cobra. I started with the Monogram 1979 Mustang kit and swapped in the chassis plate and dual exhaust from the 90 convertible kit and the v8 from the Pace Car version. The intake is from the MPC Mustang Pace Car kit and the valve covers are from the Revell 32 kits. The exhaust manifolds are from the Revell 76 Torino, the air cleaner is from the Moebius 64 Nova along with a 3d printed Predator carb, and I swapped the manual for a C4 automatic since v8s only came that way in 81. The 4 lug wheels are Fujimi and the tires are from Fireball. I wanted to build this in "Day 2" 1981 style so there's still some 70s left over with the big rear tires but on then modern wheels. I also converted the manual shifter to an auto T handle style and added a cb radio and antenna. The T tops were added to the car along with the rubber trim and roof bracing.
  9. If I could play this I'd never leave my house again, I'd just play it constantly until I starved to death. My dad listened to a lot of then modern jazz when I was a kid and I remember hearing this band frequently. Then he wonders why I like the music I do now.
  10. Thanks, I'm pretty excited about it.
  11. Maybe a "Bring out Your Dead" of previous Cannonball builds? Anything goes as long as it was entered in a previous Cannonball, if you don't have an unfinished entry it has to be a partially started build that hasn't been worked on for a while.
  12. I got the 30 up on its wheels, a set left over from an old Orange Crate kit. The front is heavily dumped, I've to raise the engine up a bit to get the oil pan off the ground.
  13. I'm glad you were able to save this build.
  14. I say younger but I'm 41, I like some newer cars too but there's decent kits of most if those.
  15. I really should put my kit money in the bank for a printer, that would be a better purchase in the long run.
  16. Oh boy, off the top of my head 68 LTD 68/69 AMX 71 Javelin Early 60s Cadillacs 69-71 Lincoln MkIII 50s-70s station wagons Early 80s Ford Ranger pickup 73 Chevelle
  17. Personally, as a younger builder with no nostalgia for older kits I wish tooling dollars would be spent on new kits of those subjects instead of recreating old kits.
  18. Ok, I just wanted to be sure you were going to be able to get a set.
  19. You can buy the 454 from the Baldwin Motion kit on ebay.
  20. Did you ever hear back from Casey if he's going to do more of the Ford wheels? If you want them with the center cap I have a set from the Revell 37/38 truck.
  21. The Musketball, like a Cannonball but smaller and a lot less powerful. The real Musketball race was limited to 100 hp and intended to be cheap fun instead of a big budget race. I'm sure we can tweak the specific rules and still keep the low budget feel.
  22. Texas 3d Customs does a Rockwell T138 transfer case that's very nice and might be doing a front axle as well. https://tx3dcustoms.com/products/rockwell-t138-transfer-case
  23. Honestly that's pretty bad, I would try to find someone parting out the kit and buy another body.
  24. I've been using decanted brake cleaner spray since they stopped making Tenax years ago.
