The NASCAR tire molds probably got sent to China. The tires were the same for every Monogram NASCAR kit from the 80s all the way to the last full detail kits in the 2010s.

There are a lot of really high buy it now prices but realistically you're looking at $150-$200. You've got some box wear so this is a builder grade kit but these earlier issues have a bit less flash than the newer ones and the original decals which some people want. I sold the newer issue with the blue truck on the box for $150 last year.

When I built my Alaskan truck I put a sleeper on it. With the unpredictable nature of the environment I'd rather have on than not. The 36" is definitely more workmanlike than the bigger on though.

Monogram 1/25 vs 1/16 kits
Fat Brian replied to 359 Germany's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There is a similar kit to the 359 in 1/25 but I don't know if it's an exact clone. There hasn't been a long hood Aerodyne issued. There is the short hood snap kit or the long hood flat top. You could make a long hood Aerodyne in 1/25 if you can find the first issue of the Revell T600. It's the only issue with the Aerodyne roof. Then swap the sleeper onto the long hood flat top kit. -
Mystery kit from the past.
Fat Brian replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yeah, I might wait and see if another one pops up. That one likely isn't going anywhere any time soon. On the other hand, the only sold one was $96 so that might be the going price. It seems fairly rare, probably due to its snapness. -
'80s Monogram kits are pretty good kits
Fat Brian replied to JollySipper's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not by me, those are incredible kits. With the increasing popularity of Fox bodies I'd love to see this kit again even without decals. -
That's a nice build.

Thanks, I had forgotten how easy most kits can build if you just use the pieces in the box and leave them alone.

Replicating modern LEDs in headlights?
Fat Brian replied to Fat Brian's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yeah, I'm not trying to light up the head lights, just represent the daytime running lights. -

I've almost got the guts of Barricade done. The last thing I need to do is attach the rear suspension and wheels to set the ride height and stance. Then it's on to the body, it's put together but I haven't painted it you so I could handle it while I'm getting the chassis squared away.

Replicating modern LEDs in headlights?

I was hoping to replicate the look of the lights when they're on. -
Concerned about Tire Burn....

That's not a terrible idea. -
A few new Round 2 kit coming out ......
Fat Brian replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
That's the thing, they don't have to include the Bigfoot decals. It could have Coke decals too. They have already issued the 80s Bigfoot with alternate decals as the Destroyer II. The only problem I can think of is that the valve covers say "Bigfoot" on them but that could be fixed, they're wrong anyway. They've done the Bigfoot 10 tube chassis truck with just American flag decals. -
Sounds fine then.

A few new Round 2 kit coming out ......
Fat Brian replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I agree that the two frames are different, there are obvious differences in places that shouldn't need to have been changed to make the monster truck conversion. That plus the fact the regular long bed was reissued after the first issue of the USA-1 truck says that at least the frame wasn't altered then. What has happened to it since then is anyone's guess. I also wonder why they keep reissuing the chevy kit when the have the 80s Bigfoot kit too. -
Great, I've bought more than enough donor kits as it is.
-
It's not too late as long as the kit isn't more than 25% complete already.
-
Would the Lindberg/AMT 66 Chevelle chassis be a suitable donor as well? I have an Olds motor to donate to the cause as well.

Some unusual race cars
Fat Brian replied to 6883michaelw's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
The Thunderbird is probably a 67, the 68 and 69 models had long bumper extensions toward the fender opening for side turn signals.
