One more question for the day
Fat Brian replied to VW93's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Best I could find is that it's in the 2000 Car Modeler annual magazine. -
In search of 4x4 conversion for Revell 97 F150
Fat Brian replied to Toast's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
This is your best bet for a stock 4x4 conversion OP, these kits should be fairly cheap too. -
I laughed more than I should have at that, congratulations.

The fender flares look stock too instead of the Bushwhacker style with the exposed bolts.

Single Carb Boss 429 Intake Manifold
Fat Brian replied to VRM's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
One exists, it's in the Johan 72 Torino stock car kit. I don't know if anyone casts it. You might find someone who will part with one in the Wanted section. -
Which modeling glue to use ?
Fat Brian replied to Ctmodeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use a combination of glues because each has different properties that make it better or worse for a given situation. I use the red tube glue for basic construction, especially on unpainted plastic. I also use a plastic "welding" liquid glue applied with a paint brush for strong, quick joints on unpainted plastic. For less structural joints I use super glue, this works on unpainted and painted surfaces but can fog so be mindful of that. For clear parts I use Testors clear waterbased paint if the parts fit well enough, just brush a bit around the edge with a small brush. -
Ok, I want to build a replica of my dad's tan on tan 77 Pacer and it had those hub caps.
-
I remember your Pacer, that is a very cool build.

For engine swaps there are a few popular options, a 2JZ from the AMT Supra fits and is a popular swap in just about anything with the length to fit it. Then you've got the LS, someone had a Revell Camaro up for trade recently that would have the perfect version for this car. They might still have it. You can use the Coyote engine from a Revell 2014 Mustang or the Hemi from a Revell Challenger. By the way, if anyone knows where to find a set of those stock hub caps I'd love to have them.

This mounting was also done in Ford LNTs as well. Check out Brian's excellent LNT 9000 build by the way. They aren't a particular kind of engine that's slanted, they are just regular engines with angled mounts.

I just found out my state has exempted cars twenty years and older from the annual emissions inspection. My 98 Lexus is now exempt and the v12 conversion can begin.

1971 Plymouth Road Runner Grille
Fat Brian replied to Greg Wann's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
What would it take to convert the Monogram 71 GTX into a Roadrunner? -
Hobby room lighting

That looks great, I used to use an old school desk lamp but it constantly got in the way. -
What l was saying was the valve covers look pretty 350ish and the port spacing is the same style. They're totally different but having limited options in 1/16 a small block makes a reasonable starting point. Once it's in the bay the differences will be hard to spot to most viewers.

'69 Notchback Mustang
Fat Brian replied to NOBLNG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You could steal the top and trunk lid from the AMT 69 Cougar and transplant it on one of the Revell 69 Mustang kits. You might have to shorten it a bit, Cougars had a longer wheelbase but I'm not sure where the extra inches were added. -
The Buick 231 uses basic Chevy style architecture so it looks pretty much like a 350 with two cylinders lopped off to all but the most knowledgeable folks. The 1/16 82 Firebird has a small block with relatively modern parts would be a start for a Grand National engine build.

Building for Ease of Disassembly....
Fat Brian replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't plan for disassembly during building but I also don't go so overboard with glue that it's impossible. Like Tom, if the chassis fits well enough to not need glue I'll leave it alone or just tack it along the rocker panels with super glue. -
I'm far from an e-type expert but I agree the box art car looks off, it's like a mashup of the 2+2 roofline and rear quarter window with the coupe doors. Until there are better pics of the kit I'm withholding judgment there due to inexperience with the subject matter. There is definitely room for improvement in the areas you mentioned though.

I've been doing that with CDs now that so many people are going all streaming, used music stores and Goodwill have a pretty good music selection.

The Mitsuoka "Rock Star".
Fat Brian replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That isn't the worst thing to happen to a Miata. The round headlights are a bit out of place, I wish they'd have integrated them in to the front under a clear lens like the racing vettes. -
A few new Round 2 kit coming out ......
Fat Brian replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
They also updated the grille for the 96 snap kits and still have the 90 grille in the monster truck kits so there have to be various parts of the tool. I wish I had a stock longbed kit to compare the monster truck frame with.
