  1. Fellow Tool fan here, I think part of the reason there aren't huge bands like Zeppelin anymore is that our media is so segmented. There are huge acts I've never heard of in genres I don't listen to because you can pretty much surround yourself with just stuff you like 24 hours a day. We live in our own little perpetual media bubbles and you almost have to purposefully seek out different stuff to hear. And it's not just music either. I don't know that any band from the last 15 years or so will still be relevant when we're old, it seems like the 90s will be the last decade to produce long lasting music.
  2. The truck in the top and bottom pictures is a Pete 379, fortunately much cheaper than the spendy FLD kit.
  3. Nice work on a challenging kit, when I built mine it felt like pieces wouldn't stop coming out of the box.
  4. Those wheels are in the Monogram/Revell 4x4 truck in 1/24 scale soo they'd be a bit bigger.
  5. The 4bt will be an easier swap for sure, the 5.9 is significantly longer than a v8. One thing in his favor though is the kit is 1/24th scale so theres a bit more room to play with.
  6. Does anyone make decals for the cars from Talladega Nights in 1/24 scale and is there even an appropriate kit to use them on?
  7. Trailer Trash Kustomz does a 5.9 Cummins and its 4bt little brother.
  8. 2" is barely noticeable, especially since they're black like the tires.
  9. The best info I could find said the wheels were 20".
  10. This is really cool and makes me want to work on my 34 rat wrecker. One thing though, your valve covers are on backwards, the angled part goes in the back.
  11. Theres been a new record for the Cannonball set recently, 27 hours and 25 minutes. That's the first average speed over 100mph.
  12. These are for the 1/25 AMT kits, they'll be very small on the Monogram kit. Terry's in instructions are correct though and will net you a long bed.
  13. I had a similar experience earlier this year. My wife talked me into emailing the builder of the Mustang I took inspiration from for my CBR build last year. He thought the build was great and even posted my pics on his Instagram page.
  14. I'm on board for TV and movie vehicles, I'm just going to post my other idea here to see if it gets any traction. The other suggestion was the 2904, the car and all mods must be less than $2,904.
  15. Yep, that's it. The Revell chassis is a touch too long for the older fastback bodies but nothing a little chop chop can't fix.
  16. I'm not married to one way or the other, probably best to let folks vote about it. We should probably start a 2020 theme thread so more people can see the discussion is starting.
  17. I was actually going to say the opposite about limiting entries to one of a certain subject. Sometimes people don't enter or don't finish because they can't build the car that really inspires them. Even if five people say they want to build a General Lee in the beginning the likelyhood that even one will get finished is pretty small so just let people build whatever and the voting will sort it out in the end. But I will yield to the majority, naturally.
  18. Yeah, we could tweak the rules for TV and movie cars to allow performance mods as long as they aren't obvious. This way you could do a Beverly Hillbillies truck with a turbo 2jz if it fits under the stock hood.
  19. I've been sitting on the idea of TV and movie cars as a potential theme for the 2020 CBR for a few months myself, I was just waiting on the suggestion thread to be posted. There are a wealth of kits that could be used and almost all kinds of builds would be represented from cars and trucks to big rigs so hopefully participation would be high. I got the idea from watching a video about guys who did the real rally in an LS swapped Dodge Monaco police car dressed like the Blues Brothers. My other theme suggestion is the "2904". The traditional route of the Cannonball is 2,904 miles long. In this race your car and all of your equipment and modifications must be less than $2904. Again, this is a real variation on the race that has been run a few times. It keeps guys from buying a new Ferrari just to compete and also limits your financial loss if your car gets permanently impounded. The current single driver record holder did the race in a 95 or 96 SC400.
  20. I've noticed that problem with a lot of Revell kits, I don't know why they cant get that area right.
  21. I scratch built this one. The ribbed portion is from a Plastruct sheet with Evergreen strip around it. The other bits are more Evergreen and the chains are from the Hobby Lobby jewelry section. It's meant to look home built and doesn't represent any specific style or brand. This one is pretty much the same, the handles are from the Revell snap Peterbilt kit.
  22. That looks very good, Dave. I bought a stock grille, rear bumper, and hood from a resin company and I'm going to take the back half of the Bobby Isaac cars roof and the top of the rear quarters and trunk area and transplant them onto the Revell kit along with some of the area around the grille.
  23. Ok, how I noticed the difference was I wanted to build a better detailed stock 72 so I tried to swap the Bobby Isaac stock car body onto the Revell chassis. When comparing the two kits it's like putting a 1/24th kit next to a 1/25th kit, I haven't run the numbers to see which one is correct.
