Kind of like striking gold...

That Blazer is a good find. -
A very, very brief video review of Tamiya’s new P-38
Fat Brian replied to LDO's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I've seen reviews of this kit, it looks amazing. I don't really have room for 1/48 aircraft but I've got a 1/72 Academy P-38 I'll get to eventually. -

The Nova's are supposed to be in the pipeline, no definitive date though. -
It's a shame they didn't do the printed windows like in the Monte Carlo kit.

Open road camper van body
Fat Brian replied to fordf-100's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The high top should still fit the police van, you just wont have the windows. If the inserts from the camper kit are still in good shape some judicious cutting on a new body might allow you to drop them in. -
I've always wanted to build the car from David Wilcox's song Rusty Old American Dream. It doesn't give a specific car other than that it's a 58 or 59 model but it's pretty descriptive otherwise.

It's a subject that interests him so he's more likely to see it through than just a random kit so that's a bonus. The Revell Chargers also seem to fit pretty well overall so there shouldn't be and major issues in construction as long as he follows the instructions and does basic parts cleanup and test fitting. When he's ready to start building I would sit down with him and show him some basics about sanding and cleaning up where the parts attach to the trees. You might could also give him a spare body you've got laying around to practice painting on.

1/25 AMT PP023 - Big Rig Semi Tractor & Trailer Tires
Fat Brian replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I would buy the 11x22 tires, I just bought three IH 4300s at Ollie's mainly for the wheels and tires. -
What modern US truckkit exists?
Fat Brian replied to PierreR89's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a snap kit that's going to donate its roof, it's about an 1/8" too narrow for the lower part of the sleeper so I'm going to have to add a little scab to each end and blend it in. It shouldn't change the overall look of the top. -
Thinking of building a Winnebago....
Fat Brian replied to philo426's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
For one that size you're right on the line between a heavy pickup chassis and a commercial truck chassis. For ease of acquisition I might start with an AMT C600 or the Ford Louisville. Those chassis are long and flat and straight so you can just start hanging big flat pieces of sheet stock. -

Thsts fine, figured I'd ask. I want to build a B model and need the Aerodyne sleeper. I didn't notice there were different versions until I'd bought mine. -
Yeah, I still buy CDs. One day when the internet doesn't work anymore I can still listen to my favorite songs on the hard copies.

Count's Roadrunner

The hood scoop is the one in the Monogram Super Bee 440 six pack kit. I dont know if anyone does it in 1/25 scale. -
1/25 AMT 1970.5 Camaro Z28 - Full Bumper
Fat Brian replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yeah, I wasn't considering that the existing grille will probably not be used at all due to the difference in the noses. -
1/25 AMT 1970.5 Camaro Z28 - Full Bumper
Fat Brian replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm almost certain the bumper and grille will be separate, if I remember correctly you have to insert the kit grille from behind the nose piece and it wont fit through the opening from the front. Just adding a bumper to the existing piece will make it not fit either way. -

If you're not committed to the Aerodyne sleeper I'd make it worth your while to trade me for the more modern one. -
