  1. Steve, Good deal,,,,,,Glad it made it ok. Looking forward to watch you work your magic on it . I bought it new ,,many many years ago . The chrome has been wrapped in a paper towel almost from the day I got it . I've got 2 more in almost the exact same condition,,plus a couple more with minor issues But I think I got the better end of the deal, a REALLY nice 1960 Oldsmobile hardtops don't exactly grow on trees ,,,and its going to be pretty close to the front of the line when I get back to the bench this fall . I plan to get a couple car bodies painted in the next few weeks. but any sustained model bench time is about to get very limited for me
  2. My exact thoughts. It would have went sailing away long ago if it were mine . Just push thru and forget about it. I am sure the end result will be worth the little bumps along the way
  3. I've looked off an on for a while. ( I have the same project on the short list myself ) and cant find an interior pic that I think is from the same time frame as the movie.. And my magazine collection is much earlier than the time frame the movie was made So,,,, I am just go to do it in a black vinyl bench seat and call it good
  4. Trading hasn't really worked all that well for me . I figure by the time I factor in what I have in my kit , plus ad postage to get the one I want . I can just buy the one I want and keep the one I have usually for less than what I'll have it it as a trade. Not trying to sound mean, just I prefer to not loose money if I can avoid it. Older long out of production kits is a different story . I actually just did a trade to get a 1960 Oldsmobile builtup. using an unbuilt Johan 63 Fury as trade material. I certainty think it was a fair deal ( at least I hope the other party is happy with the deal ,,,I know I am ) Parts request is a different story, and I've done a couple parts trades with a few members with good results for both sides. But most of the time if I see a wanted ad for parts, and I have it with no immediate use for it and its not something to hard to replace should I happen need it later on. ,,,,,. I'll just send it with no worries on my end to get anything in return . To me its just most likely collecting dust anyway .
  5. Tom, Very well said. But IMO . I think IF someone buys out the rights , tooling and molds it will have to be an established resin caster. Not only are they going to have the costs of materials and supplies,,,they will also have the overhead of buying out said molds . So trying to keep there head above water AND start from scratch to establish a market presence will make for a tough road to travel for someone new in the business . I certainly hope someone picks up the torch and moves forward with it , but I'm not holding my breath that happens either.
  6. Interested in this one. I plan to move to the Tuscon AZ in the next few years and it would be nice to know whats in the area . We will be in Sahurita area this summer for 2 weeks visiting family. And our plan is take a day and spend it with a realtor to do some looking around . The winters here have gotten to me over the years and I am so done with cold weather
  7. Not my cup of tea so to speak, ,,,,,,,but wow, your fab skills are off the chart
  8. Very nice, These cars were so ugly, they're cool . There were a few 62 Dodge builders on eBay last week with the up top included.
  9. Nice, very nice. I used to work at a Firestone tire store back in the early 80s and a lady used to come in all the time for service work driving one of these . She had bought it new and drove the snot out of it . Last time I remember seeing it was maybe 1985 and it was looking kind of rough. But ran REAL GOOD
  10. Looks like enamel clear over lacquer base coat ? or mixing different base coats with another manufacturers clear ?
  11. When ??????? I had a feeling the next version would be this car or maybe the Sox and Martin sedan
  12. I've been working on a list of parts and pieces I will need in the future for the past few weeks . Once they re-open ( think / hope they will ) I will hit submit and wait. These are all older annuals . So I am in NO hurry to get them,,,but I want to get the parts while I can .
  13. After some more digging. I figured out the truck I want to replicate is actually a 1971, So while I was out this afternoon. Hit my local hobby shop and snagged the only one he had on the shelf . Now, I need to find the wheels / hubcaps and a camper shell to fit it
  14. I LIKE IT , I LIKE IT A LOT I've been wanting one of these strictly because I think the lace decals are cool
  15. I got 5 sheets directly from BMF ,in Oct of 2015 I just opened and ck'd all 5 , no marks on any of them
  16. I see the 1970 that's coming is a short bed. What other version do I , or will I need to do a 1970 long bed ? I want to do the truck used in Funnycar summer , I think its a 1970 Long bed F250 camper special with a low profile camper shell on it Is there a source for the 8 lug 16.5 wheels and tires and the small hubcaps How about the camper cap
  17. Guy kneeling in the front reminds me of Austin Coil
  18. I buy it straight from them manufacturer, that way I feel is the best chance I have of getting it fresh and as new as possible.
  19. Hobby Lobby carries it, and the replacement blades. I just picked up a new one at my local HL last weekend.
  20. Outstanding , especially the color . I built one of these as a kid ( many moons ago ) and I keep thinking I want to try one again as an adult.
  21. The blade on mine does NOT swivel . Will see if I can find picture This one http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-ACTO-Retractable-Blade-Knife-carded-/191809843412?hash=item2ca8c1f0d4:g:RNkAAOSwWTRWx5ha
  22. My wife has no qualms with my modeling or the stash . And as long as family wants/needs don't go unattended ....I can spend pretty much what I want,,when I want . She and my girls are the same way , be it shoes , clothes , purses or ???????? But I do have a conscience so I don't get stupid with what or how much I buy . I go thru phases where I work like crazy on models for a while, then I may not touch them for weeks or months .
  23. Thanks, The Bob Banning car was just built about 2 years ago. The Soapy Sales car has been done for the better part of 30 years ,,,maybe more. I need to find a partial decal sheet to redo the roof and trunk . The original MPC kit sheet doesn't have enough of to go all the way front to rear like the 1/1
  24. I've seen the remains of the Paul Stefanshys SuperStang car in person,,,very cool car . I'm going to just have to get my butt in gear and get some of the sheets while I can But gotta ask,,,,,, Any chance you could be talked into doing the decals for the Charlie Allen blue 68 Dart AA/FC I have a resin body to do the car and a chassis but no artwork ,, I already have his red / silver car done and the blue / silver one would make a nice pair on the shelf . There was also a 68 SS car with near identical artwork . maybe a 2 in 1 sheet ,,,pretty please ?? How about the 1968 Gene Snow car ?
