I had heard paintng them silver then primer and paint works nice. I had also heard to use a primer / sealer then primer and paint works as well Time will tell. I want to do a couple Revell thunderbolts in white using the Gas Ronda car thats molded in orange ( got a bunch of them on hand )

Seeing what these original 1958 Annuals repeatedly sell for . I'll have to dis-agree with this statement . I have the 58 Imperial, 58 Ford Sunliner, 58 Bonneville and 1958 Buick ,,,,All convertibles . And I have considerably more then current kit prices in any one kit. My most recent one the 58 Buck I paid $65 for and feel like I got a screaming deal . I tried to get a 58 Impala and an 58 Edsel in the past week or so ,,,,, and both sold WELL above current kit prices.

correct my mistake i ccompletely forgot about that. My disappointment is the fact these tires will be in the upcoming missle car will be completly wrong... I dont undestwnd tooling up all new tires that arent correct for the advertised kit in any way shape or form. if the roof remains unchanged will only make it worst.

I hate to keep being a negative nelly. And I really want this kit much more so than the hardtop. But as far as I know NO 426 wedge ( max or otherwise ) ever used the large oval air cleaner shown. and on a RB series engine,,,,Chrome valve covers were 426 street wedge only The oval air cleaner is 426 Hemi Only

Chassis for 59 Chrysler Imperial (Model King)
gtx6970 replied to fseva's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Imperial wheelbase is longer than the 300 by 3 inches . so if you use the 300 chassis you will have to stretch it slightly. Other wise you got nothing else even close -
So glad to see it coming, but the tire choice is a HUGE disappointment as I assume these same tires will be in said upcoming Melrose Missle kit .

Charger Mystery ? Solved
gtx6970 replied to Pete L.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yep, its either an original MPC 1969 Charger promo body...or a body for the Mr Norm funnycar kit. ( its the exact same body ) " Hmm. Wonder if you could build a pseudo-promo out of this?" -------- Yes, you can use the interior and chassis from the Dukes kit. The one exception to this,,,,, on a true dealership Promotional , there are 2 molded in stands to attach the chassis in the front to with screws exactly like the rear, The Mr Norm body only has the 2 rear stands . So if there are no signs of a the stands modeled to the bottom of the hood its Mr Norm body -
Dick Landy's Dodges, '68 era, what color blue?
gtx6970 replied to fiatboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
To the best of my knowledge, his 1967 and 1968 cars were factory colors. The blue would be QQ1 , which is a medium metallic blue . I can only assume his later cars were also factory colors. but the blue would change to B5 for the 69 - 70 cars I've seen the 1968 Hemi Dart and his former 1970 Charger in person and I would dare make a bet I am right ( I am a diehard Mopar guy ) His old 70 Charger was still in original paint. the red looked like R4 , with B5 blue accents, the silver ,,not sure but I think testors silver is pretty close . -
You can still do the BMF work with the glass in,,you just have to ba little more carefull. But is WELL worth it to do so. Especially on a 59 Caddy

Nice ummmmm, Fenders . Yea thats it,,,,,, fenders .

The least kitted brand....
gtx6970 replied to khier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Depends on what you consider ' Normal' AMT produced the Lincoln annuals from 1959 up thru at least 1965 ( maybe later years ) . The early annuals can be had for decent money. I have two 1960 convertibles and I dont think I paid more then $65 for either one of them . -
Thanks for the link. I think its pretty cool,,,,but not $350 cool

Great looking build. I never knew a kit of this car existed So i have to ask.....how much is one if i go looking for one

What are your 2016 building plans.
gtx6970 replied to B-Ram's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I actually plan to get to the bench a few times this spring , before 1/1 show car season starts back up. I am restoring a 1/1 1968 Charger RT for a client and the bodyman has it now for final work and paint. I Just talked to him this morning. He plans to get it back to me by early / mid march, then I will be on it full time to get it done by summer. So before then I have maybe a half dozen builds in various stages of complettion. I want to get them all done before starting anything new. Then the plan is restore a few early annauls I have . in the que to finish are - AMT 1971 Duster , to replicate my little brothers actual car Johan 1962 Dodge as the Blairs Speed shop car. Johan 1970 Road Runner to replicate my old car MPC 1970 Challenger to replicate another one of my old cars Polar Lights Mazmanian 1968 Cuda funnycar, one of the clear red molded body cars. Then move to a few builtups I want to work on SMP 1958 Buick convertible annual SMP 1959 Corvette At least this is my plan,,,but we all know how well plans work out
