Polar Lights Tommy Grove funny car?
gtx6970 replied to MitchP's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
All the Polar Lights funnycar kits chassis are the same . That said they are pretty straight forward just pay close attention to the instructions. As far as keeping it straight , I use a metal sliding ruler with 2 sliders on it to keep everything straight and true side to side. Sorry, I don't have any in process pictures of any I've built -
I have the add that this picture is in,( no idea where right now ) and IMO, the grille and ft valance are airbrushed on. In print something just doesn't look right . And this is the only picture I have ever seen of the 1971 car with the sixpack style scoop. So in my gut I think it is the 1970 car just airbrushed to show the all new 1971 ft end

So why has the price of model kits gone up?
gtx6970 replied to greymack's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The american buying public did. The average buying John Q public could care less with how long it's going to last. The problem today is the average buying public wants it now and at the cheapest costs possibile. As opposed to our parents generation. Back then we wanted to know how good was it and long it was going to last . NOT how cheap is it and how fast can we get it . There for to compete the average manufacturer has to look at ways to compete with overseas manufacturing costs. To do so on the world stage business's have to monitor overhead to remain competitive. In some cases ( not all by any means ) that requires they look at off shore manufacturing. -
Based on whats writen here, It appears to be more a case of paying for an item and never getting it ,,,, more so than just slow shipping.

I'm told if your stare at this picture long enough 2 corvettes appear in the foreground.

Cool project. I'l have to keep an eye on this build. That said, I have been looking ( casually ) for one of these in 1.25th scale for another future project

Agreed, If none of the companies come out with anything new that I want/ need in the next 10 years ,,I am good. Although I am glad to see someone finally doing a 1965 Plymouth B body and will definitly get a few for the shelf

If it's a Missing Link item, you can be assured it's a nice piece. I've got several items from them and not once have I been dis-appointed -
What I ordered last year, I received in a very timely fashion, ( Other than one sheet ,,,I have not used any of them as of yet ) The one I did use was very nice,,just kind of fragile . But,,,I've read there were several customers that got nothing . so maybe procede with caution.

Me personally, I would not add a partial charge unless I know for a fact it's low on freon

1/25 AMT "Northwind" '62 Chevy Bel Air Super Stock
gtx6970 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am glad to see this kit back on the shelves as I think it's one of AMT's better efforts and should sell well ,,,,,,,but the lack of pre-plated rims and the decal error makes it a bit dis-appointing to me.( good thing I have the Fred cady sheet as well ) box art is cool though and I may buy one just for that. Between all the previous variants I have probably close to a dozen on the shelf as it is. -
The carb in the AMT 1971 Duster is pretty nice. Actually I am using the entire engine,,, air cleaner down in an MPC 1970 Challenger rebuild.
-
Problem with that is the Dart has a spare tire well and the A body only style gas tank, that looks nothing like the same area as a 1968-70 B body

I've got several of the sliding drawer screw bins from Home Depot. A couple with all large drawers and one with all small drawers for smaller parts. Plus I've got maybe a dozen or so of the large plastic bins with the snap on lids(like Draggon shown above ) I use for partial kits and/or builups that I don't have a box for .

gtx6970 replied to nitro norman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I guess I was one of the lucky ones, I ordered several items when they had an Ebay store,,got everything I ordered in less than a week ( that was several years ago though ,,and still haven't used any of it) As far as the JJ nova I would just make my own -

1970 cuda dog dish caps
gtx6970 replied to freakshow12's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The ones on the left are correct for 1969 up thru about 1971 or 72. I think it was about 1973 is when the generick ones with no lettering / face markings became avail for all Mopar applications -
Mieky, I appreciate the concern But WANT and NEED are 2 very different things . I don't need any of the kits I have stashed away,,,,,but I want ALL of them ,,,and then some Thanks for asking though

Those are Dodge caps and are wrong for a 1970 Plymouth -
The rollover was definitly a 1963 I am wondering if there were always only the 2, one was wrecked and it was replaced,,, still keeping with just the 2 team cars Until just the other day I never knew about a wrecked Ramchargers car,,,,, i was just doing some surfing a few days ago and stumbled onto it. Problem is this is the only picture I can find of the car and theres no way to read the class # on the 1/4 panel. ps, in all my pictures and everything I've found so far Class # 's 702, 979, 980 and 981 also have pics of a car with no class # with Stanford Bros along the bottom of the car # 702 has Stanford Bros along the bottom of the car 979,980 and 981 all l have Hodges Dodges along the rocker . so,,,,,,did 979 get totaled and was replaced ? Reason I ask , is I have 2 Johan 1963 Dodge kits that are rapidly coming to the ft of the line when I get back to the model bench

It's uglier than sin ,,,but In a sick morbid kind of way I like it. Paint it a different color ( or just lose the flames ) and I would drive the snot out of it -

And the people who just walked out right into traffic ,,,,, or the lady just standing in the middle of the raod and the truck with trailer that somehow went around her. 1st I've seen this one and ya gotta wonder just how smart the gene pool is around the world today
