1:1 info? Bell housing and trans.
gtx6970 replied to Kit Basher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
On Mopars. Manual trans applications the bellhsg is on the engine when it gets painted,,so will have some paint on the bell,,,the amount of paint varies from just a touch to fully covered with engine paint. All manual trans were bare cast iron All auto trans were bare cast aluminum from the bell hsg ( non removalbe like on some cars ) to the tail shaft . The auto trans pan is/was a natural steel color -
Appreciate all the feedback. Art, no offense ,,,,, But from what I've seen so far shopping / watching sale prices I can get a decent builder in the same price as a fresh resin kit.. And my original intention since I came up with this idea is to someday to have one of every mass produced kit on the shelf of the 1959 stryene kits. So there for resin will not work . I am not against using resin parts to repair said kits though. I have my eye on a couple kits on ebay now. But the toy fund will determine how rapidly this project procedes ,, so it's going to be a slow moving project as funds allow I know it's out of my year range,,,,,, but I thought it just looked cool and I made a last second attempt for it . But,,, I just won a builtup of a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville convertible last night . I thought it would look neat next to my 58 Imperial conv. Now,,if I can just get a decent deal on 58 Buick convertible http://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-Pontiac-Bonneville-convertible-kit-original-AMT-great-condition-/151549405095?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=6tZm7g2o%252FYQHQtAGZksPTbCJIRE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Especilly like the people who absolutly have to talk you down,,no matter if its a $100 kit or a $5 kit. I learned long ago, If I want $5 out of it,,I price it at $10 . Then on the plus side some pay the $10 without question. A few years ago I was selling a bunch of $5 builers/builtups. When this girl maybe 8 or 9 walked up and wanted a kit I had but she only had $3 left. I gave her the kit on the promise that SHE had to build it . That little girl had a smile a mile wide when she walked away. And ,,,you gotta love the ones who feel the middle of the isle is the best place to start a group conversation with a dozen or so friends.

What cars interest you in resin 1/25
gtx6970 replied to 5.0man's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Suprised no one has done a 1958 Chrysler 300 from the 57 kit or 1966 Satellite from the 67GTX kit -
Really nice,,, where did you get the hood scoop,,I want one

You do know,,,,,Taking pics of the 1/1 in front of the garage doors isnt fair Ya gotta love a 62 Dodge,,,a face only a mother could love. One of my favorite cars . And you did it justice

Glitches are what makes it fun ,,right ???? I really like the looks of this so far. Especially the color,,,,,. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya there is no shade differences. I ran into just that on a can of white from Duplicolor and it stalled a project till I figure out a way to make it look right. My problem is the body is already decaled and done so stripping it will be expensive and a last resort

Dodge pick up bed question
gtx6970 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
pretty sure the Little Red Express and the Warlock trucks had stained wood floors with chrome strips Edit, and as far as I know,, the only dodge trucks with wood floors ,,were the stepside trucks -

WOW Love the color and very subtle mods. Usually customs are not my thing but I really like where this is headed. Any idea on a wheel choice yet ?

Why do your kits end up stalled
gtx6970 replied to atomicholiday's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I get bored with it, and start something else, I get bored with it , start something else , and the cycle continues Usually though I dont have time ( I run my own business which is very time consuming) My girls have a golf, volleyball, soccer match, choir concert , etc etc . Bench time for me is tough to come by and when I do , I get an idea for somethign else . so I go looking for that . and the one on the bench sits ,,,and sits,,,, waiting to get done -

In Honor Of The "Chezoom" release...
gtx6970 replied to funhouse1's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I dont have one of the Kings Comet versions so I cant say what the differences are,,if any. I bought mine many years ago as the original issue and it was the only game in town . As it was several years before it was re-released by the model king. Mine has the hard plastic tires ft and rear if that makes a difference ???????? I moved some stuff around on the bench this morning to ake this pic,,,so I may just take a day here soon and finish it ( when Football season is over ) I have been working on restoring a 1/1 1968 Charger RT and a 1970 Dart 340 for shop customers and they both want them done by this summer. And paying customers take precedence to model cars. -

I built a Hemi Under Glass kit several years ago,,,and in a foolish moment sold it on Ebay,,,I will not make that mistake again. But I do have one of the repops in the stash for,,,later. About 15 years ago I did pick up a started original issue Comet from a friend of mine. Dug it out and painted / decaled it sometime last year .. and it has sat in the corner of the model bench since. Sad part is I could have it done and in the case in a day ,,or less -
Just simple white board stood up and a second one as a base . No frills no fuss. Depending on the builds color, I may also use a colored towl drapped over a chair
-
Define, basically. ? I've built one of the Fugimi kits a few years back,, and this car is nothing like it detail wise . This one seems to have much more intricate suspenion stuff as well as opening doors , wire wheels , etc
-
I did this one probably 10 years ago. And I am real happy with how it turned out . I think it's testors gloss black with testors clear very light sanded between the color and clear coats with nothing but a waxing on the final coat It wasnt prepped or treated any different than any other color I use. It doesnt have that mile deep look to it,,,,,,,,,then again neither did the car I was trying to replicate. So it thats what your after try the above methods. It's just like the fullsize cars,,,know what you want in the finished prodect BEFORE you start said project.
