  1. Sweet, Got one of these to do in the near future. so the tips along the way are nice info
  2. 1961 Pontiac will be a plus. But the 1965 Comet is most definitly on my want list and has been for some time. And mention of a time frame for either ? is the 1970 Cuda still slated for this fall/winter or has it been pushed back to early 2014 ?
  3. Wouldn't mind see better pictures than this one https://57ccb717-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/hartspartsresin/resin-parts-list/conversions/68%20hemi%20dat%20int.JPG?attachauth=ANoY7cpqcpKqesRCAAp9wdf8edjIXR_ECF9O8OHHvSCpsTvuk1ghR7UKPj7vHx3Jeaxv9tRdl_X4wZ7Hcq194wixoAiTIVAlAAm90I_Zhf7NrQm6vbw6CqhujDR84sUGZV0D2e0T7mAQ7iU4V9yv8SNMVQ0eaf5DCDyI237_GoVdxecaQQ8zv8klHjIV5AncgJMPe1m3RRRJhIwbbv_VJkhT_RbZqd0LSux_BcBWqs8EfO5QuxLYqty7gXy_RCMRSSm3L4xPwQmd9N4IUHmONia8QDV6baExFw%3D%3D&attredirects=0
  4. Ok, I have been thinking about picking up one of these for a future build question is, which one ? I don't need a super detailed photo etched nightmare ,,,,,,BUT once completed I want to look into the case and see a Ferrari 250 GTO It can be a curbside or maybe just a basic platform style kit. so, which one and why ?
  5. Really nice. Well done I built one of these last year. and I must say I was very pleased with how well it went together and the finished product.
  6. http://www.ebay.com/itm/JO-HAN-1964-Chrysler-300-Convertible-1-25th-Scale-UNBUILT-KIT-/181224444951?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2a31d19417&nma=true&si=J%252Bxi19%252B%252BvWAXjkwvPD4J6JNSblc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  7. You are not alone, Foose hasn't done anything yet that appeals to me . And I definitly will not pay extra for a model kit just because his name is on the box
  8. I agree with Harry on this one. Seller has ovboiusly stumbed onto a profitable idea. As far as parting out vintage kits,,,,,,, if no one is willing to pay the price to buy it whole,,,, why not part it out ? A seller can't afford to sit on dead inventory forever and still be profitable. You would be surprised how many people that have vintage kits needing only small parts to complete the one they have. I know a guy who has been doing it for years ,,,and doing quite well at it As far as finding a used junker ( of any kind or any age) that actually has saleable parts on it for $75 ,,,,,,,,,,,,good luck with that
  9. VERY nice, This is one thats been on my 'want to do' list for quite some time. I have a few pictures of the actual car in it's current unrestored state if anyone wants to see them
  10. Who they sponsor( or don't sponsor ) has ZERO influence as to where or who I buy auto parts from ( or any thing I buy actually) .I buy based on service 1st, price 2nd I try my best to buy locally and usually try my local mom and pop shops first for as much as possibile
  11. There was a time when I wanted to go nuts with details on every build I did. Now that I've gotten older, I find myself rarely wanting to do more than maybe plug wires or heater hoses. But mostly now it's an out of the box builds for me ( I don't do contests )
  12. Ditto. I've been slowly stashing away all kinds of early 30s kits for later on builds
  13. Shame , they have two different sizes in the pkg. Me personally I tend to think they would sell better if they were like all the other tire packs and customer received 8 of all the same tire. same deal on the blue steak slick sets. .
  14. Looks pretty good to my eyes. Sometimes you just gotta knock something simple out to get back in the swing of things. So good for you I have'nt even turned the light on over the model bench since sometime this past spring
  15. My one and only 62 BelAir build ( for now)
  16. Very nice. Ya gotta like the old MPC kits . I have one of these old builtups, but mine doesn't look near as good as this
  17. I've got maybe a half dozen or so of these left from back when they first came out . So I have serious doubts I'll be in for any new releases . UNLESS there is something drastically different ( doubt it ) to warrent a purchase. If I do it would be for the box art only. For some reason it reminds me of the original issue AMT 1968 Torino kit .
  18. This thing is just horrible, please pack it up ( carefully ) and send it my way so I can give it a proper disposal jk , btw. I like it a lot . I assume a recent AMT chassis / parts to finish it ? I'ven looking for a decent mpc 1971 challenger to do this exact car and once I get to the that point I may just use the Comp resin body and call it good
  19. Very true and i agree it is very nice. BUT, at the modelhuas price of almost $100 , IMO, your in the price range of a decent builtup . And for me personally, I would rather have the stryene builtup..........................my opinion only. I've bought 1 each of a hardtop and a convertible rebuilders in the last 2 years or so give or take and I don't think I put more than $100 in either one. Here are just a few recent sales ( not mine nor do I know the sellers ) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-DODGE-CORONET-R-T-CONVERTIBLE-ANNUAL-BUILT-RARE-/221275997243?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item338513c43b http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-MPC-1968-DODGE-CORONET-R-T-HARDTOP-BUILDER-BOX-/290949957470?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item43bdf8075e http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-MPC-1968-Dodge-Coronet-R-T-/161093367929?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2581e9b879&nma=true&si=fXZpXBilaHOBbEn96wGNMElhH9o%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  20. I was told by someone who used to do box art builds for AMT/ERTL and the 1968 Coronet never went any farther than pictures of an original annual / box art photos
  21. I was looking into having reproduction parts made for classic Mopar muscle cars. So I don't know if the numbers here are same/similar to model car licensing structure so take it for what you paid for it. Up front costs approximatly in the $2500 range PER ITEM requesting licensing approval. In adition to this Mopar then takes approx 8% PER ITEM of manufacturers suggested RETAIL price
  22. My main goal is the repair an original issue Johan 1969 Roadrunner kit. it's missing the seats and the interior tub is a tad rough The down fall is the original Johan int is only correct for the 1969 GTX (it replicates the GTX woodgrain door panels ) But for practical build purposes I may try the AMT versions.
  23. For the most part I build box stock. So I would guess maybe in the $10-15 range on top of the price of the kit. And most of my building stock costs in the $10-15 range . so I would figure in the $20-30 range per build. But, I do have a bunch of old builtups, and with many of them it could be I paid anywhere from $40 to $100 just for the kit. So for me it all comes down to how bad I want it in my display case .
  24. Anyone know if anyone is making repops of the 2 bucket seats with head rests and the back seat for the Johan 1969 Roadrunner kit ? Even a correct interior tub would be good All but one of mine has the incorrect 1970 Interior tub and seats.
  25. Trying to convince model car builders a dozer kit will sell well is like trying to sell ice to an eskimo. No matter the subject , let the manufacturer know of YOUR likes/wants. In this day of emails and instant messaging , all it takes is a few minutes of your time to let them know.
