  1. Some art, I find beautiful. Some I don't understand. As a friend that's owned a gallery said, "it doesn't speak to you".
  2. That's a problem with me sometimes. Aggravating. I know in 1:1 cars, always shoot the wheel openings, corners, etc. Do you do that on models, Bill?
  3. You could always make a mold by using play dough and freeze it. Pop the wheel out and fill with epoxy and you have another wheel.
  4. +1 In addition to the sandpaper, get a set of polishing cloths with 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000 and 12000 grits. They're what a lot of people around here use. Then go to the polishing compounds. I use Novus 1, 2 and 3. I never use anything mechanical when polishing paint. I have enough trouble polishing through paint on corners using my fingers. I'd really mess something up using a power tool. One thing I've learned since I've been back in this hobby, there are very few shortcuts. Some things just take time, patience and control. Hard for me to do sometimes.
  5. I use gloves during the degreasing and mold release washes as well as the Comet/brush scrub for the bodies. I get mine from Harbor Freight and prefer the 3 mil thickness for increased feel and dexterity.
  6. I use Dawn since it's a great degreaser. I also use a small brush and Comet to scuff the body until the shine is gone. A lot easier than sanding and it gets in all the nooks and crannies.
  7. Looks like you just stepped into heaven on earth. I'll be watching the delayed broadcast on Sunday.
  8. I love it when folks think outside the box and create unique models like your Mini. Excellent execution and attention to detail.
  9. You've got to be kidding me! http://autoweek.com/article/wait-theres-more/welcome-world-land-speed-toilet-racing
  10. I've got that kit in the stash.
  11. I like the Artists Loft brushes available at Michaels. The larger handle is comfortable for my old hands and the brushes are finely tipped. I have several. Use their 40% off coupon available at the website. They're only $4 retail so that's $2.40 plus the governors cut. http://www.michaels.com/artists-loft-roma-tight-spot-brush/M10213656.html
  12. Is this the movie that Matt Damon is supposed to be cast as Carroll Shelby? If that's the case, it's going to take some good make up and acting to convince me I'm watching anything close to CS. I don't know if Damon can pull it off.
  13. Model Master makes several metalizer colors in spray cans.
  14. McQueen was a big star. Maybe 1/18 would work??
  15. I saw it. It definitely was a first. If she has the bidders number, he isn't supposed to bid. Maybe they didn't talk all the scenarios through? The sexist remark by the auctioneer was unnecessary.
  16. Just ordered the Dremel Keyless Chuck. I've got a corded Dremel. Maybe that'll be the answer. Thanks!
  17. I thought I'd found the drill I needed to do the job at Harbor Freight. I even posted a topic on it. The trigger had great sensitivity and it was easy to start holes and gradually increase the RPMs. Well, since then, it's lost that sensitivity and starts with a fast spin. YGWYPF. Before that, I started off using an adapter bit in an electric screwdriver but it doesn't have enough speed. I've been looking at the Tamiya 74041 Electric Handy Drill. One feedback I read said it had a speed of 400 RPMs. Does it? Does it start slow? Is it easily controlled, etc.? Pin vises are difficult for 74 yr. old hands to use. I'm also using Harbor Freight drill bits. The tips don't look much like a drill bit tip. Are the more expensive sets worth the money? Which ones?
  18. I'd use the Molotow refills and shoot it through an airbrush.
  19. Most of the time. I don't use primer under Createx paint.
