  1. The Paasche H is simple, inexpensive and easy to clean. If you want your building to take a leap forward, you've got to learn how to airbrush. Get some old model bodies and practice on them. Make sure your air source is adjustable, dry and clean.
  2. If that's your stumbling block, I recommend Tamiya spray paints. If you want to try an airbrush, get a Paasche H.
  3. Actually, I was hoping for pics of the application process. Just trying to imagine the look of the amber over the orange apricot.
  4. Sounds good. Pictures?
  5. For brushing small parts, I prefer acrylic, particularly craft acrylics. I never liked craft acrylics until I started thinning them with Liquitex Flow Aid. Makes them much easier to work with, whether hand or air brushing. Hand brushing lacquers is not easy. Lacquer dries too fast.
  6. Seems like that's where everything is going. Panera Bread just started local delivery. Pretty soon, people won't leave their homes for anything.
  7. Just signed up for their newsletter.
  8. I totally agree. I wish I'd bought a Paasche H for my first airbrush.
  9. I agree with the other posters, Tamiya is better than Testors. Testors hides imperfections because it goes on thicker. Thicker paint = loss of detail.
  10. Perfection is definitely my aim, but I'm realistic about my abilities at this time. I just keep on trying.
  11. This is my approach. I have a few that can't be fixed and a few that have frustrated me but I think I can fix. As Renegade said, "I have yet to build a kit that turned out perfectly". They're all displayed with the best side forward.
  12. Hobby Lobby That's what I'm going to try.
  13. I bit and bought the 30 minute stuff too. Anxious to try it on an upcoming build. It'll be a recreation of a model I did back in the early 60s.
  14. I'm guilty of doing this. My point is usually to verify that something still works or if someone has a better way. If that irritates some, I'm sorry but I'd like to have all the knowledge I can get, be it old or new. Scrolling on by usually helps with that anxiety level.
  15. That's funny, BTD. What a cool story. Being a black woman traveling alone in that period of time, it may not have been a romantic as it sounds, though. Reminds me of my favorite AC/DC song.
  16. What do you think of Bob Smith Industries BSI epoxies? I just bought some 5 minute and wondered if the 30 minute stuff would work well with balloons.
  17. I agree. I've seen a 510 model here on the forum but I don't know if it was built with home made decals or a set from someone.
  18. They have the Paul Newman 280ZX decals here and other Datsun 510 decals but not sure if they have the Newman 510 decals. I have an extra 510 and would love to build the Newman 510 car. http://members.optushome.com.au/pattosplace/home.html
  19. I've been back in the hobby for the last 7 years and it's taken me about 6 1/2 of them to quit trying to save a nickel, reinvent the wheel, experiment or whatever you want to call it and follow this rule.
  20. Lucky you! Scary ride, but still, I wouldn't have passed up the chance.
  21. Those Chetah's were supposed to be Chevy's answer to the Cobra. They were really evil handling. I knew a guy back in the 90s that vintage raced one. He told me it was a handful.
  22. Just ordered a 005.
