Created has a lot of pearls.

One thing I forgot to mention about the Createx paints is that the balancing clear/mixing additive is NOT a real clear, per se, it's just a necessary ingredient that they've decided to put the word clear in. I've bought a bottle of their gloss clear but I hear it really doesn't gloss up if you're looking for a show car finish. I'll try it sometime and see how it does. About 90% of my builds are race cars so I'm not looking for the dipped in syrup look.

You need to spend some time on their website. www.createxcolors.com They have videos about mixing the paint with the additives you're talking about. They're 4030 Balancing Clear/Mix Additive and 4012 High Performance Reducer. There are tables for mixing all of the createx paints as well as lots of tips. One is to mix the reducer and balancing clear/mix additive together before mixing in the paint. Little things like that as well as reduction ratios are all there. Spend some time watching the videos and reading about the products. It boosted my confidence. I've done some trial stuff on old bodies with black covered with Model Master Lacquer Clear. Looked really good. I've tried one other car and stripped it twice. Your body prep has to be near perfect. I'm still experimenting but feel like the results may be worth the effort, I hope.

I've got one of those as well as the Lotus that comes in the 3 pack, both about half done. I finished the McLaren. I don't know if I'll ever finish them.

Testor’s clear window glue

Might need to be mixed or has gone bad. Get some Formula 500 Canopy Glue. I got mine from Hobbylinc. -
The most dangerous race

You are correct Dale. The riders have absolutely NO FEAR. It's the most insane race in the world. I hope no one gets killed. -

My thoughts exactly, but then, Ferrari is used to Ford doing things first. -
Figuring out a scale size...Help!

So true. I was a miserable math student in high school, flunking Algebra II but managed to pass calculus in college. Go figure. Never saw the need for math in my adolescent years but I learned netter later. I've really used it a lot building and racing 1 to 1s and model cars too. I learned as an instructor at a nuclear plant for a student to "get it", you've got to relate it to real life. Doesn't matter what you're teaching. -

I may need a new regulator?

This thing sure has an aggressive rake.

I totally agree. I couldn't believe how it had been butchered since I last saw it on 77 Sunset Strip. I was telling my wife while it was being auctioned that it didn't look at all like the same car. Those goofy zoomie headers on steroids and that ugly double supercharger set up were awful. Hot rodding in the 50s was different. Not as much money back then. -
How Old Are You
Miatatom replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is insane! I broke my back in '89 dirt oval racing a Margay with a 2 stroke Yamaha. I'd rode and raced dirt bikes since the late 60s and the kart seemed "safer". Fun, but it didn't end well. I'm still hanging in here, mostly lurking. Most of my builds lately aren't worth posting. Too much experimentation with finishes. -

I wish I'd kept my 82 Royale RP 31M. I bet that kart is a blast. I think this thread has been officially hijacked. -

How Old Are You
Miatatom replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My 38 year old son just bought his first vinyl record. He's like a one eyed cat peeping in a seafood store when he looks at my album collection. So's his older brother. -

I do. CBS Sports Channel also shows European FIA World Motocross rounds sometimes in addition to several of the above. What I really miss is the old Thursday Night Thunder midget, sprint and silver crown races. Anyone remember "Tommy Tipover"?

And finally, one more thing! Why does someone who wins but then is caught cheating get to keep the trophy, cash and points. Sometimes they get fined and the crew chief gets put on probation but typically not much more. In SCCA racing, you cheat, you're disqualified. You drive like an idiot, you'll get black flagged and the chief steward will discuss it while the rest of the cars continue on.

Yeah and get rid of the gimmicky stages where there are 3 "races" in one, again to "create drama". Shortening the races would eliminate the riding around, saving equipment strategy. They'd go for it from the start. Oh, one more thing, why does a driver get the same number of points for leading just 1 lap and the driver that leads the most laps gets the same amount of points? Seems like leading the most laps should be more points.

I think there's a remedy that might help. Old Trucker and I agree, shorten the races to fit into a 2 hour window like F1 and people might come back. Yes, it used to be an endurance race but now, it's just try to last, save your equipment till the last few laps and go for it. Even Dale Jr. once said the races were too long.
