  1. Sounds like good advice. As I posted above, you have to thin this stuff. Use their thinners. Use them like they say to use them. Don't look for shortcuts with this stuff. Mix it and spray it like they say to. Once you spray it on, you CAN NOT sand it until you cover it with some sort of clear. Those are not my opinions, they are the directions that the folks at Createx put on their website to explain how to use their products. They work and they're good. Here's their website. https://createxcolors.com/ There's a couple of hours of reading and videos that will tell you everything you need to know about their products. I have absolutely zero financial interest in Createx nor do I know anyone that works there. They just make good paint that work for a multitude of applications. Pretty cool stuff really. I've been on an extended honey do list project and haven't built anything lately (before summer). I finished the paint on a 917K Porsche at that time and it turned out great. The decals were another story. It was my first time using Createx products, not counting a couple of trial and errors that failed. Another bonus of Createx, it strips easy if you mess up. Whenever I get back to the bench, they'll be my go to paint.
  2. From my experience, when using any of the Createx or Wicked paints, they should be reduced with 4012 reducer as well as 4030 balancing clear. That's what the Createx people recommend on their website for spraying onto hard surfaces. I follow their directions and it works for me.
  3. I wrote that I don't use acrylics but I have used Created with sucess. If they're acrylics, they don't spray like it. Hybrid acrylics?
  4. Send me a copy of your stash list.

  5. Love the Ossa SDR.
  6. I tried them and went back to lacquer for the bodies. I use acrylics on the chassis and interiors.
  7. I'm with you on that. I do the same thing. I've seen people post that they airbrush every part. That's a lot of work but some of the finished models I've seen posted here look like they've received that level of effort.
  8. I agree with espo. I like Tamiya products. The one BIG difference between Tamiya and other spray cans is the nozzle. It's design really makes a difference. With that being said, why use spray cans when you have all the equipment to air brush the paint on?
  9. I didn't get much done either. Too many home projects but I hope to get back at it after the holidays.
  10. Don't waste your money. My wife got one and it's a POS. Oh, and by the way, they're $140, not $20. Read the fine print. It's a total rip off.
  11. Great start! Love those old sports cars.
  12. That's a good tip. I buy my brushes from Michaels. They have many different brands and styles.
  13. Mine are open and the 170 cfm bilge blower sucks all the fumes out of the booth and through an exhaust to the outside. The big bulky gloves would have to go.
  14. I built one out of wood that's about the same design. If you go with that one, I'd suggest trying to modify it to a downdraft design. That's the preferred method. I looked at the dimensions and it's pretty small. Mine is 3' wide, 2' deep and 3' high at the back and sometimes, still not big enough. I use a 170 cfm bilge blower to evacuate the inside. It works fairly well. Personally, I'd pay an extra $60 and get the Abrasive Blast Cabinet https://www.harborfreight.com/abrasive-blast-cabinet-62144.html It's a downdraft and much more roomy. I've got well over $230 in mine. Wish I'd looked around and found the blast cabinet first.
  15. Oh man, what a thread! Dick Mann was one of my favorites too. The movie On Any Sunday educated me on flat rack racing and Dick Mann was one of the pro stars. Is this kit available now? I'd love to see a model of the 750 Yamaha road racer too. Jim in Pittsburgh, I love your SDR Ossa. A good buddy had a 125 Penton. I mostly raced Hondas and Yamahas.
  16. Sometimes I can't get a decent paint job standing or sitting. Haven't tried lying down yet. Mike, why not build it so you can remove the legs easily and decide which way you like it.
  17. Same here plus sitting too much hurts my bad back.
  18. Great job! I love the Trans Am cars.
  19. I like Formula 1, Indy, Rally and sports cars (especially race cars).
  20. I clear coat mine to protect the decals.
  21. I have a like new Patriot 105 that I'd trade.
