  1. Miatatom

    Mazda 787B

Finished it in 49 days. Ties for my fastest build so far. Color is Tamiya white primer covered with Model Master Clear.
  2. Nice work! I've got one of those in my stash that I'll tackle someday.
  3. Thanks Jim! You are correct, I've got them on backwards. DUHHHHHHH says Tom. Wasn't paying attention to detail. They're just pressed on though so it'll be an easy fix.
  4. Started on 7/14/15, this could be my quickest build since a 50 year layoff. Still have to do mirrors, antennae, glue the wing on and of course, decals. Hopefully under glass by the weekend. White hides a multitude of mistakes.
  5. A beautiful job, Art.
  6. Search for bestmodelcarparts on eBay. That's where I got mine.
  7. Thanks, Curtis. Yes, I do have an AB.
  8. I've gotten dash gauges as well as license plates here: http://www.ebay.com/usr/bestmodelcarparts
  9. I'm building the Tamiya Mazda 787B. Can someone help with some tips on how to use the supplied window masks without messing them up?
  10. But are you sure that it's to scale?
  11. The most fun was anytime I raced. Fun cars like my Royale Formula Ford, several Formula Vees, a couple of Miatas and the most fun was the '60 Bugeye Sprite. Fun tracks like VIR, Road Atlanta, Roebling Road, Barber Motorsports Park and Taladega Grand Prix Raceway.
  12. You're doing the same thing I did 3 1/2 years ago in my basement. After trying to build in an open basement, I gave up and framed in a shop. Mine is 12 x 20. You'll be so glad when you're done.
  13. Can you give us an idea of your mixing ratios? I've been mixing 100 ml batches of acrylic thinner and add 2 ml of Liquitex Professional Flow-Aid Fluid Medium and 2 ml of Liquitex Professional Slow Dri Blending Medium. I usually thin the acrylic paint 1:1 with the thinner mixture.
  14. As usual, a great job, Danny!
  15. I love that movie. Graduated in 62 so the movie felt like it was a part of my life. The 32 and 58 were both kits, I think.
  16. Yes. Are you painting outside?
  17. 220 is too coarse. You need to finish sanding with something finer. I usually go with 360 or 400 to start, then 600 to 800 and finish with 1000 or 1500. The smoother it is before you spray, the smoother it'll be after you spray.
  18. I didn't want to put too much more money into these three kits but I think I'm going to need to spring for the decal sets for all three cars from Indycals. Now I've got to get these off of the McLaren. I took some more pictures outside today and the decals look awful. So bad that I won't even post them. I used Tamiya TS-56 Brilliant Orange.
  19. This kit came from the Hall of Fame set that also includes the Lotus Ford Model 27 and the Watson Roadster. I'm working on both of them but I really wanted to get the McLaren together first. I had a tough time making the body and wings fit even close. After completing 3 Tamiya 1/20 models, jumping into 1/24 was a learning experience. The decals were a b***h. Tore one of the signatures. The numbers didn't want to lay down even after using Micro Sol. I guess I'll paint each one with a coat of Future and hope they stay down. There's a ton of mistakes but I long since learned that perfection is not in my skill set. I can live with it. I'll take some more pics tomorrow.
  20. A guy in my neighborhood has 2 of them.
