aurfalien Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 78' Scirocco which I tricked out with many parts from a tuner named Techtonics related to the Empi empire.
The70judgeman Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) $900 got me a 1972 Pontiac LeMans Sport with a 350 2bbl(I changed over to a Edelbrock aluminum intake and a Holley 4bbl when the 2bbl went kaput). It had the RA Hood, Endura front bumper, fender air extractors, and Cordova Top. So, it looked the same as a GTO...or, the other way around since the GTO was an option on the Lemans again. As many problems I had with it, it's the only vehicle that I wish I still had. It was very similar, condition as well, to the picture here, but mine was black and had late 80's 14" Firebird rims. atomicholiday Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 '77 Pontiac Firebird. White with a 3/4 black vinyl top. Absolutely LOVED that car. Right up until the moment when some idiot rear-ended it.
Crazy Ed Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 My first was a $400 '60 1/2 ton Panel Truck that was orgionaly owned by a Laundry Company. It had a Large Roof Rack where the Dirty Laundry bags were placed that was Great for Drive In Movies. Sit in the back row and put a pair of fold up Chaise Lounges up there. Boring Movie, no problem just move "Indoors"..........
om617 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Bought it in High School at 16,then worked outside of school and in weekends to save up money to fix it like i wanted. It was original beige but painted white base and yellow pearl. It was brown inside so not to many options to go with it as for colors. So i bought double exhaust, painted it,got some new wheels and tires on so it was ready for my 18 birthday when i got my driving lisence. 77 Caprice Coupe Landau. Picture is from 1997 on it`s virgin voyage lol. Edited April 23, 2015 by om617
ZTony8 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 My first car was a '65 Olds F-85 2 door sedan @60k miles-330 v-8,2 speed Jetaway automatic,power steering,power brakes.Got it for $650 in 1971.
Foxer Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I bought my aunt's 14 year old '51 Plymouth in my first year of college so I didn't have to take two buses to classes. I masked the fake wood dash and sprayed it gloss black. Some mostly black seat covers from JC Whitney, black dye on the rest of the interior and red front seat belts gave the interior a newer look. Tuck and roll was not in my college budget. The outside got a set of JC Whitney fake mag hubcaps .. not THAT bad looking,
Jantrix Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 A '75 Olds Delta 88 2-door hardtop. White with a blue vinyl top and 55K miles back in 1986/87. It had a two barreled Olds 350, which was quickly upgraded to a 4 barrel intake and a Carter (I think) 4-barrel carb. Added some headers and dual exhaust and that was about it. It scooted along fairly well and sounded good without grabbing the attention of local LEO's. I loved it.
JTalmage Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 My first car... My grandma bought this car brand new. Had 32,000 miles when I got it. It is a 2.3 4cyl with a 3 speed auto. No highway car by any means. I love the car, needs restored now though. Hit a deer in it and its sat outside while I try to get my '88 Mustang street/strip car in shape.
Mike_G Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 My first 4-wheeled vehicle was a '51 Ford F1 pickup I bought for $90 with money I made working on a cattle ranch when I was 15- I learned to double-clutch in that old beast. I had a '68 Harley 125 when I was 14, and a Hodaka Wombat when I was 16
blunc Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 1957 Ford Town Victoria 4dr, factory black enamel. I found it odd that a factory black Victoria came with a 6cyl in it but that's how it was when my father and I rescued it from an Arizona recycling yard in the mid '70s. the floor was rusted out because it had sat through several Arizona floods. I was actually driving that car when it hit 128deg... no air conditioning and the headliner had rotted out years ago, I only touched the steering wheel when I really needed to and inhaling was actually a little painful.
sjordan2 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Super Spider Veloce identical to this, like new in 1966. (Veloce refers to dual Webers instead of the single Solex, and "Super" refers to the fact that it was prepared for weekend racing by the importer, Hoffman Motors -- short wheelbase, special cams). I was too young and inexperienced to maintain it properly and drove it into the ground (Not hard to do with Alfas before they pulled out of the US market). In spite of further Alfas, Porsche 944 and C4 Corvette, it's still the most fun car I ever owned and I'd love to have it back. Restored standard versions go for around $65K today, and I bet this one would now fetch over $100K. Edited April 23, 2015 by sjordan2
bamadon Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 My first car was a 1959 Chevy Impala convertible in Cameo Coral (read pink).
Drake69 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 First car I bought for myself... I pulled the engine out and put in a 350 short block Corvette motor in her. Then out of necessity I sold her. Worst thing I ever did because I miss the heck out of her.
Scale-Master Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Didn't look like this when I got. It was a five year old '73 Kammback when I bought it in high school. This is how it looked a few years later.
Deathgoblin Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Had a 1972 Buick Skylark. 350-2bbl, originally had a TH350 transmission, replaced with a TH400. Got it for $400, ended up junking it for $50 when the frame rusted through. It got used for parts for a dirt tracker. Looked almost exactly like this one:
webestang Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 1971 VW Super Beetle with auto stick.....dark green white/black interior.......
gbdolfans Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 My first car was a '57 Chevy. It had a 265 ci engine,3 speed manual that had been moved from column to floor. It was a Tourquoise blue with white top.It was fun to drive and had a blast until the rear end gave out.I was 16 at the time, back in 1968.

Ford guy Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Mine was a '67 Plymouth Fury III. 383 automatic. Blue inside and out with a black vinyl top. That car would haul all my friends plus a couple more. The trunk could sleep a family of six easily. I wish I would have kept it, it would be a lot cooler now then it was in high school.
THarrison351 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 In 1982 fresh out of Air Force basic training and tech school, I returned home for Christmas to find my dad had acquired a car for me (called from tech school for him to find me a car). For $500 he found a 1975 Ford Granada Ghia 4 door, 302 V-8, auto, PS, PB, am/fm stereo, white with aqua interior, vinyl top and trim. It was just under 100K miles, needed a new top and I loved it for about 3 years before I traded it and got a 1000 bucks toward a new red 1985 Ford Escort that I kept for 10 years.

A lot like my '67 300. Back in 1979 it was just a big old boat of a used car to most people. I'll bet you'd get some looks now! I actually used that enormous trunk a couple of times to smuggle several friends into the drive in theater! Yes......people actually did that. Steve
