cobraman Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Monogram Cobra with a Revell 63 Stingray roof section grafted on. Not the best job anyone has ever done but I am pretty happy with it. I see things I could have done different or better but it's done . The Cobra body was cut out as was the Corvette roof. Then some trimming was done to get them to fit together as good as possible. Putty, sand, prime , repeat. Three times. Stock Vette interior was used with some mods. No engine or chassis detail. I filled the bumper holes and drilled out the tail lights. I used some clear red plastic as the lenses. Wheels are from the parts box. Paint is Duplicolor Flame red and Duplicolor clear. Polished out a bit with Novus. Comments pro or con are always welcome. Thanks for looking. On to the next one !!!!
Kennyboy Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Looks great Ray!!Very original idea......it is quite different, and I like different!
Guest Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) Well done Ray. I think it would come off a little better if it ended at the flat rear, vs the point that is there. Exceptional work none the less. Edited August 29, 2015 by midnightprowler
wayne swayze Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 That's really nice Ray! Love the wheels and tires. Nicely done!
BIGTRUCK Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 The end result came out nice , the idea was a total home run.
aurfalien Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) Wow, turned out sooo killer! The only con is that... well... not enough photos. Can you post more?PS Its like a Ferrari 250 on massive steroids! Edited August 29, 2015 by aurfalien
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Awesome!! Glad you went with the boat tail! Man you work fast! That is the only top that I have ever thought looked really good on a Cobra. Very cool and original build!!!
Roncla Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Thats a nice job of blending parts. Everything flows nicely. I'd be proud of that.
cobraman Posted August 30, 2015 Author Posted August 30, 2015 Thank you much guys. I was afraid that my mixing of the Ford and Chevy parts would not be very well accepted.
Crazy Ed Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 The Graft worked out and it appears the Patient Survived!! Nice Job there Ray.
TFchronos Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) Thank you much guys. I was afraid that my mixing of the Ford and Chevy parts would not be very well accepted. We might say a lot of ahem "stuff" about each other but at the end of the day we all still respect each other. That's what I believe at least and taking these two cars and putting them together really worked out.Beautiful model, it looks amazing. Edited August 30, 2015 by TFchronos typos
bismarck Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Any chance of a resin repop? Thats just COOL!!! Great Job!!!
uncle potts Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) I like this alot. Very creative. I know you're trying to keep to a Cobra theme, but I think (just my narrow-minded, pin-headed opinion) that the vette tail lights would have been cool. Not that there is anything wrong with yours. A pic of the front would be nice. Thanks for sharing. Edited August 30, 2015 by uncle potts
Speedfreak Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) Ray, that is awesome, you should have someone cast that, it just works. What does it look like from the front? Edited August 30, 2015 by Speedfreak
blunc Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Thank you much guys. I was afraid that my mixing of the Ford and Chevy parts would not be very well accepted. actually, it would be better said that you mixed American and British parts. Nice work... which ever way you mixed it.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 That's something for sure!I liked the styling. The execution is also great.
1930fordpickup Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Looks better than I thought it would Ray. I have always liked the idea of a Cobra with a roof, Just could never come up with a roof that just fits. Way to find it Ray.
TooOld Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 That Stingray top looks great , good work Ray ! And I don't have any problem with Chevy parts going on a Cobra , we built a few with 502 Chevys in them and most people loved them .
Kenny B Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Good work Ray, Body work looks good a very cool looking Cobra.
Greg Myers Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Hope you got that tach hooked up. Cos Ol' Shels probably spinnin' in his grave.
