ZTony8 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Every few years factors come together to create good looking cars.1967 was one of those years.1927,1937,1941,1949,1955,1957,and 1965 were others. You could also make a case for 1972,except maybe for most of the Mopars.
Erik Smith Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 1962 for GM and Ford...it took Chrysler/Dodge until '63. I don't know why, I've just always like to simple, long lines of the era, expecially the Pontiacs.
gtx6970 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I dont think I can pin it down to one single year. But it would be somewhere between 1958 and 1961
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I dont think I can pin it down to one single year. But it would be somewhere between 1958 and 1961 I was thinking the same. probably 1960 for me. Especially for GM. Ford & Mopar were a little on the funky side that year, but the GM cars were beautiful. I've always been very partial to the '61s myself. I even liked the far out styling of the Chrysler cars that year. But then again, I have what most would probably consider strange taste in cars. Steve
slusher Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 70 the first year of the Monte Carlo and a bunch of great Mopars, Challenger, Cudas. Buick GSX, 70 Mustang was great also...
Jantrix Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I think that the years when body styles changed the most dramaticaly, are the best stylistically. Some companies caught on sooner than others, but they all came around.1949. 1959,1964,1970

bbowser Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I got to go with Harry, 1967 was a great year. Mustang, GTO, Chevelle, Impala, Cougar, Riviera, Toronado, Charger, Corvette, Camaro, Firebird, XKE, MG, Triumph, the list goes on and on.
charlie8575 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 1938- The height of Art Deco.1941- Elegance blended with Art Deco and enough chrome and stainless.1957- The height of the Jet Age and far too many well-designed cars to discount it.1965-66- Elegance untamed and unrestrained. Charlie Larkin
W-409 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I have always liked the Full Size cars from the late '50s to early '60s the most. It's very hard to pick one favorite year as I think '59-'63 are the years when best looking cars were made. But if I had to pick one year it would be either 1960 or 1963. I can't say for sure why, except that the best looking cars were simply done on those years, and especially GM cars are my favorites.
58 Impala Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 So many great years it's hard to pick just one. I would go with a minimum of three 67,68,69. Those years seem to have left over styling cues from the early 60's and some of the coming changes of the early 70's.
espo Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Everyone has a favorite era, depending on when you first got into automobiles. From a styling point things really started to change in the mid fifties. The warmed over bodies from pre war were being replaced with fresh ideas. By about '55 things really started to change with small fins popping up and 2 and 3 tone paint jobs. By the late '50s the theme had become lower - wider and longer with even bigger fins. Early 60's the fins went away and more body sculpting became the theme along with stuffing the biggest engine they could make into it ( YA ) . The 70's styling got much smoother almost understated. Then in the mid to late 70's the "smog police" and safety comities started designing cars and it just seemed to go down hill from there. As always there are exceptions, but they are just that. As an aside I think what they are building now in many cases are as exciting as anything from the past, and I've seen to much past personally. Just my thoughts.
iangilly Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 1970, so many great looking cars here and abroad. Live to have been alive during that time.
Miatatom Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Call me the oddball but I really like 1956 with 1960 and 1961 close behind. 1966 was really a good year too.
Richard Bartrop Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Here's a guy who thinks 1966 was the best year for everything. Hard to argue with him.http://1966myfavoriteyear.blogspot.ca/
High octane Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 1969 is one of my most favorite years for cars, however I also like the fins, the chrome, and the two/triple tone paint jobs on the cars of the 50's very much.
unclescott58 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Here's a guy who thinks 1966 was the best year for everything. Hard to argue with him.http://1966myfavoriteyear.blogspot.ca/The guy who runs this web site published a very good book a few years back, on that year too. And your right. It's hard to argue with him. 1966 was a cool year. I just like the looks of '67 cars a little bit better. But then, one way of looking at it, is that most of the '67 model year cars appeared in the fall of 1966. So I guess he is right. It is 1966!Another great year is 1958. Not for the cars. Though I like those too. But, because little Scotty Aho (that's me!) came in the world that year. ?
socal76 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) I myself have to go with '66 for Chevy (Impala SS), '69 or '70 for Ford (the Mustang) '70 for Pontiac, (the GTO), the '70 for Buick (the GTX), and '67 for Mopar (GTX to start off) Edited November 18, 2015 by socal76 Missed the model I have the most deeply felt affinity for!
STYRENE-SURFER Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I Google'd "1966 cars popular" yep those were some nice looking cars. Some surprises, at least for me.The popular music from that year was not bad either.
