Tom Geiger Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I have way too much stuff. I'd have to do inventory (a daunting task) to figure out where the holes are in my annual collection. Of those old '60s kits I have mostly old restorable built up versus mint in the box kits. I know if I pulled everything out, I would find I have duplicates of some and none of other years. And as far as annual runs, I'm happy to have a more detailed later kit of a car than the original year issue anyway. As long as I have a car to represent the year, I'm good.I've managed to collect all the kits I destroyed as a kid. The toughest one was the Tijuana Taxi that I pieced together from parts from three different sources. And then they go reissue it! Go figger! My last big Holy Grail was the 1966 Valiant Signet promo, but I managed to snag one of those a few years ago. So I'm a happy guy.
rctruk Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I'd love to find a couple of old IMC kits....Ford GT 40 and the Mark II GT
Mark Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I've found the "milestone" stuff from the past, and also things I saw back then but couldn't talk my parents into buying! First kit I remember building myself (Premier Valiant; called a "1963" on the box, but was still the '60-'62 body style), first AMT kit I remember ('62 Falcon; this would have been in '66, maybe '67). Too, a lot of the late Sixties AMT reissues that I only saw on store shelves once (if that), the Surf Wagon '65 Chevelle that I bought the day before Christmas one year even though everyone was telling me I'd probably get other model car kits for Christmas. And, no, I didn't get another Surf Wagon the next day, and I never saw that one in the stores again either...

I have one, 90% build, still in original box, but I'd love to be able to buy two or three more. The OP only said kits you HAD, not ones you wanted. There are many IMC kits I'd like to have now that I never had then. Oh, I thought of another one: Aurora Super Spy Aston-Martin DB5.
vintagedragcrazy Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 How about the Volare roadrunner and dodge demon kitsvince
Luc Janssens Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Hmm, think I would like back the Esci Toyota Kenia Safari kit. Ebay gave me the chance to buy back all the others, but that one always goes for more then I'm willing to pay for....
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I had wished for many years that I could have had many of the old annual kits from the 50s & 60s.Being born in '62, I missed out on the kits from that era.Say what you will about ebay, they've fulfilled many dreams for me in the past few years.Kits that I thought I would never see again are now a reality for me.I've since purchased, & in many cases built, the majority of my "holy grail" kits. These are great times if you're looking for an obsolete kit that you've always wanted. They're out there, you just have to be willing & able to pay for them. oldcarfan Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I've managed to get some. The 75 Firebird Formula, the Manx Dune Buggy and the 76 Datsun Truck and most of the ones that have been reissued in the last few years. I still want to find most of the 70s era MPC annuals, especially the Pintos and Vegas. If MPC/AMT were to reissue the old annuals, I would be sure to pick up all of them.

Unfortunately they are long gone

FordRodnKustom Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Over the years I've managed to reclaim most of them but these two still escape me because of $$$$
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Only two I'm after at the moment are a virgin AMT '59 Buick hardtop, and a '60 falcon.
The70judgeman Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) Did the old "slap and wrap" when I had it then. Now I guess you could call it my holy grail kit. Just not willing to pay the prices people want for them. Edited January 3, 2016 by The70judgeman
Draggon Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 These pop up on ebay once in awhile for over $100. It's not a lot of a stretch to make one from something out nowadays, but I'd just like to build it from the box.
THarrison351 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Every model I built as a kid, and as a young adult before I had the the skills, the ability to safely store and the good sense to keep every one of them. I can't even remember them all.
disabled modeler Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Good choices and stories gents....keep posting them...someone might just have one of them and be willing to let it go...if not its good just to see or hear and remember them.
