Dave Van Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Sitting inventory cost $ so moving it can be a positive to a point then it becomes a danger sign. Where Atlantis is at???
Mark Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Not just sitting inventory, perhaps licensing period has ended. When that happens, the company producing the licensed item has to stop on day X, but has a specified period after that to sell off the items. If too high a percentage of total production goes to closeout, that can be a bad thing. A small amount every so often is tolerable. 1
Robberbaron Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 (edited) Checked my local Ollies (Merrrillville, IN). No JJ funny cars, in fact nothing new whatsoever. Same Atlantis ship and airplane kits collecting dust on the shelves, and a bunch of the MPC Wacky Racers. Still had a couple of the MPC trikes too. Thought they'd gotten rid of all those, but they must have found some more (or shifted them around from somewhere else). Edited September 21, 2024 by Robberbaron 1
ewetwo Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 I checked out my Ollies this past week. Christmas toys are out but no models. 1
larman Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 I was able to get a Jungle Jim 1/16 Vega at the Airport Road store in Allentown, Pa. It is a very nice model, especially for $15! The body on mine is very clean. I may wind up not painting it, just polish and clear it. 2
GT350 Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Eagleville, PA store had the military stuff (I built a Nike Hercules missile) but also the Atlantic Fireball Dragster.
iBorg Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I'd be all over getting a couple more Fireball dragsters. 1
1930fordpickup Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Toledo store had the white cab over fuel truck. 1/48 scale?
Mark Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 The fuel truck is 1/48 scale. I saw a few of those yesterday, hadn't seen them before. The same store still had quite a few of those Fireball dragster kits from about a month ago. 1
Mr. Metallic Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 The Atlantis Facebook update recently said they would be having some product hit the shelves at Ollies, so this makes sense. 1
iBorg Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I'd love to know what kits are included. I hope they are of the quality to encourage people to build. 2
Mark Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Someone mentioned awhile back (here, I believe) that the exclusive Atlantis kits would be figures, not cars.
1930fordpickup Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Well that clears up why I am seeing the Indian chief and Buck Rodgers ? In Toledo. Might not be Buck Rodger but one of the space guys from the 60s.

slusher Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Anyone scoring at Ollies, I thought I might check this week?

RSchnell Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I'd be willing to bet that you won't see many kits other than Atlantis stuff this year. Seems Atlantis did a run of assorted kits just for Ollie's. It was on their Facebook page. 1
ewetwo Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Maybe in the Spring. My Walmart has a ton of kits and they aren't moving. People waiting for them to be marked down I bet. I bought a couple I didn't have. But even after Christmas I saw them there.
RSchnell Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 The two walmarts by me never have any kits, but if they did it's a good chance I already have it or don't want it. LOL I'm really surprised Ollie's didn't have any kits for the Christmas season. I never even saw any of the Atlantis stuff in my local Ollie's aside from the few kits that have been growing roots. 2
oldcarfan Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Ollie's related news at least to me. Big Lots is closing down and my wife wanted to see what was left at our store. The lady at the checkout said there's a rumor Ollie's is planning to take over a lot of the closed buildings. That would be good as the closest one to us in central Texas is about 60 miles away. 1

It was part of a group of stores sold to Ollie's earlier in the Big Lots bankruptcy process. Heard yesterday that Big Lots found a buyer for the remaining 900+ stores, but I have not heard the name of the buyer.
deuces wild Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Have you guys n gals talked with the store manager about stocking some model kits and paint????..... Sometimes they do listen...😉
