Not just sitting inventory, perhaps licensing period has ended.  When that happens, the company producing the licensed item has to stop on day X, but has a specified period after that to sell off the items.

If too high a percentage of total production goes to closeout, that can be a bad thing.  A small amount every so often is tolerable.

Checked my local Ollies (Merrrillville, IN).  No JJ funny cars, in fact nothing new whatsoever.

Same Atlantis ship and airplane kits collecting dust on the shelves, and a bunch of the MPC Wacky Racers.

Still had a couple of the MPC trikes too.  Thought they'd gotten rid of all those, but they must have found some more (or shifted them around from somewhere else).

I was able to get a Jungle Jim 1/16 Vega at the Airport Road store in Allentown, Pa. It is a very nice model, especially for $15! The body on mine is very clean. I may wind up not painting it, just polish and clear it.

Eagleville, PA store had the military stuff (I built a Nike Hercules missile) but also the Atlantic Fireball Dragster.

The fuel truck is 1/48 scale.  I saw a few of those yesterday, hadn't seen them before.  The same store still had quite a few of those Fireball dragster kits from about a month ago.

Someone mentioned awhile back (here, I believe) that the exclusive Atlantis kits would be figures, not cars.

Are figures that popular?

Anyone scoring at Ollies, I thought I might check this week?

Mine had no automotive kits at all, just a small selection of Atlantis miltary ships and aircraft.  Been that way for months.

I'd be willing to bet that you won't see many kits other than Atlantis stuff this year. Seems Atlantis did a run of assorted kits just for Ollie's. It was on their Facebook page.

Maybe in the Spring. My Walmart has a ton of kits and they aren't moving. People waiting for them to be marked down I bet. I bought a couple I didn't have. But even after Christmas I saw them there.

The two walmarts by me never have any kits, but if they did it's a good chance I already have it or don't want it. LOL I'm really surprised Ollie's didn't have any kits for the Christmas season. I never even saw any of the Atlantis stuff in my local Ollie's aside from the few kits that have been growing roots.

Ollie's related news at least to me. Big Lots is closing down and  my wife wanted to see what was left at our store. The lady at the checkout said there's a rumor Ollie's is planning to take over a lot of the closed buildings. That would be good as the closest one to us in central Texas is about 60 miles away.

Ollie's is taking over the Big Lots location in Racine, Wisconsin. It was part of a group of stores sold to Ollie's earlier in the Big Lots bankruptcy process. Heard yesterday that Big Lots found a buyer for the remaining 900+ stores, but I have not heard the name of the buyer.
