That looks really good James.  I'm still stuck on the Createx paints as you have been using and I get pretty good results. My friend Bob ("Zippy") just got a great paint job on his current '40 Ford with the Tamiya Acrylic and I'm seriously considering giving it a try.

Thanks Mike. I like the Createx paints, they do a good job, but I'm always wanting to try something different. I saw Bob's 40 Ford, great paint job on it. I also want to try the Tamiya paints but have no local hobby shops to buy it at. I'm going to order some and give it a try.

Thanks for the kind words there Buddy.  The Tamiya Acrylic paint seems to work really well with the Mr. Color Leveling Thinner mixed 2:1.

A 49 merc custom. A revell kit. First custom for me. Seems like a cool kit. Mystic cobra color. Had some left over from a mustang cobra I painted a few years ago.

Nothing fancy but my first painted stripes and anything little more advanced. Almost screwed them up due to a paint that acted up but I managed to save it. Not the smoothest paint but I did not dare to polish it more since I was afraid I did not have enough clear.  Still liking it 🙂

Just revisited this thread. Those are wild paint jobs. Who doesn’t like a classy low rider paint job?

I keep trying to improve my paint jobs but can't seem to get it right. I first was using Rustoleum 2x spray paints, but lately I've been using craft paints and Createx paints. I've tried different clears and ended up just using Revive floor polish. The other day I decided to try something I remember doing 30 years ago before I quit the hobby. I was then using the little Testors bottle enamels spraying them with a cheap Testors plastic airbrush and a can of air. I thought it did a good job back then. So I tried it again using my Paasche H, mixing the enamel 50/50 with generic lacquer thinner. I think it did ok, needs improvement but it's probably better than what my results have been lately.

Createx is a whole different animal airbrushing. I’ve done 2 colors - Wicked Black and Wicked Orange. Took me awhile to figure out which thinner to use. I ended up getting the correct thinner when I was using a reducer. The thinner worked beautifully if the paint : thinner ratio is spot on. Yours look so pretty good to me.

Very nice looking; the stripes compliment the body perfectly. Is this or the other Chevelle in the pic posted here "Under Glass"? Would love to see more of each!

I really like the color on the Foose Cadillac, it's Anita's Galvanized Tin Metallic craft paint with Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear. The Foose Truck is a mixture of Chroma Molten Metals Copper craft paint and Apple Barrel Black craft paint. The top is a mixture of three different craft paints including flesh tone, white, and sand and is cleared with Krylon Short Cuts Gloss Clear.
