Modelbuilder Mark Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 The hobby Lobbys in our still have the 29s. I picked up another one this weekend. Still regret taking myself out of getting the 30 the day I had it in my hand. Said "why rush, this new excellent kit will be around a while, probably reissued many times, no rush" ......... one and learn. Lol
1930fordpickup Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Anybody know what happening on these kits. I saw the 29 going for sixtyty amd the 30/31for couple of hundred. Totally crazy prices.I do not understand the crazy price on the 29 as they are still out there at some stores, though it is out of production. The 30 is out of production and sole so well that they were sold out very fast. Then the problem happened and now nothing for now.

I picked up one and thought the same thing. Normally I pick up two as soon as I have the extra money. Not this time and I regret it. The chopped roof is what held me back from 2 the first time I had my hands on it. But now after seeing many built I like it or it passes as an ok chop for me.
ChrisBcritter Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Anybody know what happening on these kits. I saw the 29 going for sixty and the 30/31 for couple of hundred. Totally crazy prices.Sold listings for the '30 on eBay are running from $41.00 to $84.13. They're mostly in the $50-$60 range.
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 The prices I was see7ng was on Amazon.
Snake45 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Still haven't seen a '30, but there was yet another '29 on the shelf at my HL last weekend, after being missing for 2 weeks. (I already bought 3, which should be a lifetime supply of them for me.)
dimaxion Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) Wow , you guys are so UNINFORMED . Once a China Corp makes any Overseas Product they own it totally . All production and propiority Rights , as all pre-approved future production Royalties .Remember the Die Cast Mint Model debacle . Did you know the Dies are made of Steel the Chinese can not duplicate ? I remember being Bad Mouthed for this truth here awhile back .. This TRUTH is out there as I know I'm not believable . Don't believe me , look it up your lazy self . So , I'll say it .... Thanx .. Edited February 14, 2017 by dimaxion Somethings were not stated well //
High octane Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I just found the Revell '30 Ford Model A Coupe at my LHS via the phone this morning and had it "put aside" for me. I probably should have asked if they had anymore???

Not sure why you are jumping in now and calling us uninformed and lazy.It looks as if it has been determined that there are some kits out there, from the initial run, that are making it to the shelves. Revell discontinued the part numbers and stated new numbers would be issued if the kits become available again. We will probably never know what happened. We can speculate all we want.Buy them, if you see them.

my80malibu Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 My Issue is why is there so much secrecy on Revells part. If there was Sabotage of the molds while in possesion of the Chinese Manufacturer. Why not just say so, and move on. Why let the problem fester into all this speculation about what happened, or what is going to happen. None of us here can change what has been already done. I have three original kits in my possesion, at the current today price that they are being sold at. I will not be buying anymore.

They have already said the kits are discontinued due to a manufacturing issue. Business secrets are just that. Not for public knowledge. All we need to know is a product has been discontinued. More products will come in the future..move on, nothing to see here. Edited February 15, 2017 by Rob Hall
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Revell may not be able to discuss what happened. Also kits are discontinued all the time and it doesn't mean that they are gone forever. Just have to wait to see what happens next.
Greg Myers Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Such a slim market segment.Growing older and smaller as the days roll on.Typically with little or no new product on the shelves, we tend to clamor for something new all the time.Losing a product we like and losing the potential of that product to be released as a new and different version typically doesn't sit well. The constant secrecy and behind the scenes goings on, along with the experts with their opinions ( others be damned) gets old in a hurry as Gabriel pointed out.
Johnt671 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 I was at Michaels in Hazleton PA yesterday and found two of the 30 kits on the shelf.

charlie8575 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I wonder if they re-started production? If not, I wonder if I should be trying to get a couple for stock?Charlie Larkin

Bob Ellis Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I wonder if China feels the same way about AMT and MPC kits they didn't design. Possesion is 9/10 of the law..The computer design they can't control. Can go anywhere.
High octane Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I stopped by my LHS today and picked up the Revell '30 Ford Model A Coupe that I had them hold for me 'til I got around to picking it up. Don't think that I'll be seein' anymore of those kits for sale for awhile.
dodgefever Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 China is the Wild West, you may think you can trust them, but they hold all the cards. Even 1:1 car manufacturers have their products ripped off. They're making a "Land Wind" knock off of the Land Rover Evoque right now. Luckily it's not my problem, but I'd be looking to repatriate anything and everything that's gone to China.
