Greg Myers Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Probably one of, if not my favorite kits to build. Goes together without a fuss. Maybe not 100% accurate for the subject matter but it sure looks the part once finished. And thats comfort to me. The Revell 1964 Ford Thunderbolt WOW ! Worth lookin at again
THarrison351 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Back in the '90s when I was building all the time, I was crankin' out Monogram's and AMT's NASCAR kits every few weeks, and had a little production line for myself. I guess I've built around 20-30, but it's been so long since I've un-boxed them, that might be wrong.
Lunajammer Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Though I haven't completed one, I keep coming back to the Revell 53-54 Chevies. Started a couple and have added junkers along the way.
catpack68 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 My comfort model would have to be the Revell 67 Chevelle Kit.I have built 8 for myself, friends or family members.I have 3 more in my stash waiting to built.Another favorite is the Revell 65 Z16 Chevelle kit.I have built several of those kits as well.
FordRodnKustom Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 The venerable AMT 49 Ford. I will never not be interested in building another one, and another...Yup, that one too running a close second for me. Can't have too many.
Jantrix Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 (edited) A comfort model kit? No, not really. But a build style? Certainly. I find weathered subjects particularly enjoyable because you never really know how they are gonna turn out. Also not everything has to be perfect. It's kinda freeing really. As much as I enjoy them, I don't do it a lot because I don't want to lose the novelty, and I want to continue to grow as a builder. Edited July 26, 2017 by Jantrix
russosborne Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Monogram 55 Chevy Badman. Monogram T'rantula. Monogram 66 Malibu SS (tilt front end). Monogram Stinger(and the original version, can't remember the name-Trick T?). Almost all of the Tom Daniels kits work as well. Notice a trend here? All come colored already. Quick to build, look great on the shelf. Also the AMT 40 Ford. First model I can remember building completely by myself. Problem is I don't have enough to build for all the times I need comfort. There might be others, some of which are listed by others here. But the ones above are ones that I will always choose to buy over other kits no matter how many I have if funds are limited. Probably 90% of my building is comfort/nostalgia. Russ
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Any form of the revell mongram 64/65/66 mustangs
ZTony8 Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 The Peugeot 206 WRC. Any version, but I'd need to catch up on my sleep to have the energy to do the white 1999 version with the segmented Peugeot lion decal.
dragcarz Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 I'd have to go with AMT 55 Chevys, both sedan and Nomad. The 65 Chevelle Wagon, and the 67-68 Camaros. I can't seem to stop buying these kits. I also have to include Revell 70s Funny car kit.
JollySipper Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 The Monogram '37 Ford coupe...... fun to build and always turns out nice........ also the Lindberg '61 Impala (recently released as an AMT kit)
ChrisBcritter Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 AMT Craftsman/Jr. series kits. Expensive comfort nowadays, but I love 'em.
slusher Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 AMT 49 Ford always been my favorite and AMT 67 Impala 3rd would be the Revell 70 mustang
CometMan Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 I really like the old AMTs and Johans. But the one that really stands out is the Revell Woodstock, the '30 Ford Woody with opening everything.
DeeCee Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 A Mopar and a scalpel.... and see what pops out at the end..
mademan Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Revell Custom Cadillac lorwider, and Revell 69 Nova.... love both those kits, built a handfull of each and have plans for allot more.
Tom Geiger Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 It's all pickups for me.... Monogram 1950 Ford, AMT 1953 Ford and the AMT 55-57 Chevys
Atmobil Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 I can't think of a kit that I have built several times and liked, the only kit I'm aware of that I have built more than once is the AMT Ford C-series truck and that was not a nice journey but a kit I would love to build again is Hasegawas Nissan Sunny pickup kit. I built the first version they came out with and had a blast building it. I got another on the shelf so one day I'm going to build it again.
oldcarfan Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 For me it is Monogram's curbside kits from the late 70-early 80s. Their 911, RX-7, and all the rest. Those or any of the 60s AMT annuals or 70s MPC annuals.
Draggon Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 I should have added an important piece to my post above on the 40 Ford. I'm so familiar with the kit, it goes together without much effort. I get into a zen like state, mainly relying on "muscle memory" and things just fall into place. It happens with the AMT 32 Ford roadster too.
Sixx Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 I don't have any more photos...but mine has to be Revell's 41 Willy's gasser kits...the newer ones...I've built a ton of em as slot car bodies & several as full builds...
