cobraman Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 OK , as most of you know I like Cobra's . I do have a collection but I am always trying to build one different than the normal red or blue ,etc . I have built a few that are not the norm . I came up with this idea so I went ahead with it . Remember I did not say it was a good idea . In fact to be honest I think I had a moment of stupidity . I decided since we are all friends here I would post it anyway . Look at your own risk ! You have been warned ! Just for fun . 1
Jmaracing Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Ray what have you done? Lol. Great idea. Car looks awesome as allways. Great job!!
TooOld Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Strange But True . . . One of our customers showed up at our shop with a Cobra on his trailer with a VW engine in it , unfortunately whomever built it also butchered the body so bad it barely looked like a Cobra anymore ! Yours looks like a Cobra so I'm okay with it . One thumb-up for the effort !
cobraman Posted October 24, 2017 Author Posted October 24, 2017 Can't say i didn't warn you. Used a built Manx kit I had and just made pan longer.
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Definitely different. The true joy of modeling is to be able to do something that might be done full size. Its a truly fun model.
berr13 Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Heresy! Abomination!!!No, not really. Different, but pretty cool.
Spex84 Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 That's hilarious. Somebody had to try it!! You can tell people it's a model of a VW-based kit car
PARTSMARTY Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I love it-i'm a very firm believer in originality rules and I love thinking out of the box-great color also !!!
cobramike Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Carroll Shelby just turned over in his grave!
Rob Hall Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Neat, something different...makes me wonder if there were any Beetle-based Cobra-style kit cars made..there were so many different Beetle-based kit cars made..
aurfalien Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Neat, something different...makes me wonder if there were any Beetle-based Cobra-style kit cars made..there were so many different Beetle-based kit cars made.. aurfalien Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Thanks a lot guys, you are too kind. Hi,BTW I really really like your trunk treatment and how you did the exhaust.Very very nice design.
DumpyDan Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Oh ya was not expecting that, but on the other hand that's great. Love it!
Smitty Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 That's hilarious! I'm not sure if that's what you were going for, but it made me smile! I thought VW-based kit car as well.
cobraman Posted October 24, 2017 Author Posted October 24, 2017 Thanks guys. Eric, if it made you smile that's great. I am always trying to think of different ways to build a Cobra for my collection, silly or not. How many ways can I build a Cobra ???
Lovefordgalaxie Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 LOL!!!! Looks like a sewing machine and a Cobra had a kid. It's for sure unique. Installing VW air cooled engines on 1:1 replica cars or even original "sports cars" was a trend here in Brasil from the late '60s well into the '80s. Google some of those cars, and you will have fun.MP LaferLorena GTPuma GTBianco SBianco TarpanThunder Phorand many others made in smaller numbers.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Thanks guys. Eric, if it made you smile that's great. I am always trying to think of different ways to build a Cobra for my collection, silly or not. How many ways can I build a Cobra ??? I always thought a Cobra bike would look nice. Cut the fenders from the body following a line right in the middle of the headlight, do the same on the other side of the car, and make a bike to fit under it. The biker would sit on top of what used to be the doors.
Lunajammer Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Like I say about most publicly scathed cars, anything different is good. It all looks believable so the always difficult Lady Esmerelda Nesbitt gives it a...
