1972coronet Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Try as I might , I could not find any photos of those 1965 "RO51" and "WO51" cars in their AWB form with their quarter panels buckling-under from their bodies being so thin --- those "neutral-drop" starts (Torqueflite) and "dumped-clutch" ( "crash-box" 4-speed ) didn't help any .Al "The Big K" Kirshenbaum did a great series of articles in Mopar Action about ~20 years ago about the 1965 S/S-come-F/X "Amblewagon" cars . There were a number of folding-up AWB cars in the articles .
Robberbaron Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 (edited) Sure didn't expect to see the Nova & Chevy II, but very happy they're happening. Glad to see the '65 sedan has a stock wheelbase, many more possibilities this way. Even if it's not in Moebius' current plans, that leaves the option open for a future factory stock (or "closer to factory stock") version down the road. Regardless of how one defines "gasser", you just need to do a Google image search to see that there are scads of 1:1 first gen Chevy II's/Novas that are set up very similar to the Moebius '65 mockup. Many of them are street driven. It particularly reminds me of "The Woodsman Shaker" 62 sedan featured at the link below. If you've never read the story on this particular car, you owe it to yourself to take a few minutes and get the lowdown. Anyone who considers themselves a "car guy" can't help but love the story of how this car came to be: http://www.superchevy.com/features/1501-1962-woodsman-shaker-chevy-ii-too-much/ Note that even though this car currently sports a big block and is altered wheelbase, when the owner first got it back on the road in the late seventies, it surely looked an awful lot like the Moebius '65 mockup, and probably would have been considered a street freak at the time. Also note that although this car doesn't fit the original sixties definition of a gasser, it currently races in a regional racing body called "East Coast Gassers". Also note that it is still street driven occasionally. Edited November 14, 2017 by Robberbaron
unclescott58 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Thank you Tim and Dave for showing us more of Moebuis' future. The Ford pickups will be high on my want list. The stock Chevy II Nova hardtop is also high on my list. And the Discovery from 2001. That's cool too. I'm looking forward to spending more money on Moebuis models in the future.
1972coronet Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 That's a cool story about an even cooler car , Robert . Thanks much for the link !

W-409 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Yep it's fun how nowadays every car that has a jacked up front end is called a "Gasser" even though it has nothing to do with real Gassers. It's true that Chevy IIs were not common cars in Gasser classes or in Factory Experimental... But my plan is to modify one of those kits into an FX car, but it will be backdated to a '63... Anyway, when considering how popular those Chevy IIs were as Funny Cars/Match Racers, I'm sure bunch of them will be seen on the forum when the kit is out.I've said it before on the other thread, but I say it again. I can't wait to see these kits available! I'll definitely buy multiples of both Nova/Chevy II kits.

fairlane1320 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Only question is when will it be available. I want to order it tomorrow! I made the mistake of asking when the F100s will be available. I had to walk away from the table.

Chuck Kourouklis Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Welp, it's been pointed out that 9 months is on the rosy side, assuming nothing goes wrong, to get any presentable plastic in a box. That means hammer-to-the-floor, NOTHING going wrong, maybe 4th quarter '18. For ONE of them, because the decision hasn't even been made what comes first.Account for history and Murphy's law, I'd put 'em somewhere early-mid '19, m'self. They can take till 2021, far as I'm concerned, if they use the time getting 'em dialed in.Oh, whatever will I build in the meantime...

Ace-Garageguy Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 ... They can take till 2021, far as I'm concerned, if they use the time getting 'em dialed in...100% agreement there. I probably have enough to keep busy...and I'd just jump up and down for joy if there aren't any glaring errors on whatever they choose to put out. I've got multiples of just about everything Moebius has done in cars, and they actually look pretty much like the real ones.Do I have gripes? Sure, but I've never mentioned them because the majority of what's in the boxes is just so GOOD.

I've got plenty on may banch and not enough$$$$$ for all the kits I want to buy.
Ron Hamilton Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 No matter what, it's gonna be great!!!
Snake45 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I Like the Chevy 2, surprised they would do one! I would rather see it as an early funny car though instead of this "gasser" thing.People today don't know what a gasser is. Gary, my impression of you is that you're a good enough modeler that with a pair of these new kits and a Rat Packer and your spare parts box, you can build at least two of anything you really want to make. Or do I have you confused with someone else?

BubbaBrown Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 A big thank you to Dave and Tim for the info. I'm sure they will all sell good. I had never seen a 2dr Hudson until the kits. Will there ever be any 4dr's ?

Will there ever be any 4dr's ?Trouble is, with only perhaps half a dozen exceptions subject wise, most modelers tend to consider a 4dr as being 2 doors too many.Art
rickcaps55 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 It would be awesome to have a 65 Nova kit out again and one that can be built stock or street or all out drag and if Moebius is doing it you know it will be a very detailed kit but you say it's only been 3D printed and not tooled yet HO BOY so maybe we will see it some time in 2020 or 2021.?????. Hell I'm 65 I may not be able to hold the air brush by then.!!!!
