Lunajammer Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 ...And it's getting sectioned. Haunting memory of Jantrix saying months ago, "...you'll have your work cut out for you." That's why I like doing this kind of thing on a (relatively) low parts count kit. Fewer parts to cut and fewer headaches over fiddly stuff. The rounded rear fender will be the achilles heal. I'm also not going to try and preserve any side trim.
disconovaman Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 Hey, now this is a fun little project... excited to see what you do with it!

I'm parts hunting for a modern tri-carb set up to mount onto the existing intake and keep tucked under the hood without any scoops. Hmm. Seems to me there's a Monogram 53' Vette that uses sidedrafts which would help out here, yes?

Lunajammer Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Changing up the C-pillar to take out the forward jag that's always bugged me. I've also rebuilt the rear bumper from an upside down Corvette piece. It not only adds a little more interest but reduces the visual weight of the stock slab bumper.
Belugawrx Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 I'm likin this one Mike Nice work going on here Cheers

Lunajammer Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 Nice work Pat, really coming together into something unique.

Thank you guys Still going to add some rust to the hood. Didn't want a scoop , was trying to blend the air cleaner in . Couldn't get it under the hood.

Pat Minarick Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Need to put some plates on it and take some better pictures.
Lunajammer Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 A little more front end trimming got this parts box piece to fit pretty well. The first set up on wheels. Thankfully, no fit problems at this point, no major headaches. Just need to work the edges to get the hood to sit down.
iamsuperdan Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Wow. Some of you are done, and I only just opened the box to think about my build! So anyway, here we go. Starting with this Revell kit of a 70s Chev square body. Most of the "custom" piece will be going in to the parts bin., as I have my own ideas of custom. The engine is from an old Tamiya BMW M635csi kit I started many, many years ago. A lot of parts have been lost to time, so I figured this truck is as good a place as any for the inline-6 M engine. Additional power will be coming from a turbocharger, sourced through TDRinnovations on Shapeways. I'll be scratchbuilding an intercooler and the plumbing to go with it. Wheels are some Fujimi 18" BBS. There will be numerous adds and details. I hope. Not sure on the colour yet.

I haven't started mine either, so at least your're ahead of me!
Oldmopars Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I have this project over in the Trucks, Big rigs workbench, but thought I would post some updates here so you all know what is going on. I have the basic truck mocked up, the engine is done and the tank is mostly finished.
Oldmopars Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 As you can see, this is a Septic truck AKA: The Stool Bus. The story is that it needs to be an inline engine, so I went with the Cummins NHC-250 and I wanted something the Cops would avoid stopping. How many times have you seen a cop stop a Poop Truck? I added a turbo from an Italari Scania kit I had for more power. In real life this would not hold Poo, but would actually be a fuel tank so the driver would not have to stop, but could just keep driving coast to coast.

Jantrix Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 (edited) I got some work done over the weekend and suddenly I realize that I'm not to far from completion. I'll shoot one last set of pics tonight and that will be it until it's under glass. Edited May 22, 2018 by Jantrix
Jantrix Posted May 24, 2018 Author Posted May 24, 2018 Just about there guys. This one snuck up on me. I'm just working as I have time and suddenly, I realized I only had a few pieces left. I finished up the weathering, added some trim and she's just about ready for final assembly.
Jantrix Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 (edited) Okay it's mid-year and we're not seeing much activity. Not unusual for summer (in the U.S.). I've been pretty busy on the farm but I'm just about 8 hours build time from finishing up. So lets see where everyone is, post up some pics of the current state of the build (even if it's still parts in a box) and maybe it will get people jump started again. Edited June 4, 2018 by Jantrix
landman Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 (edited) Mine is done. Edited November 10, 2020 by landman
